This restaurant is a horrible, unprofessional establishment, and I hope no one else experiences what my friends and I went through with a bouncer at Pablo. On July 4th, I went to Pablo in St. Tropez after a lovely dinner at the restaurant right next door. We had also already been in a few different bars. We kindly requested to enter for drinks; the bouncer, who is bald with greenish eyes, blatantly looked us up and down in a judgmental way and said "without a reservation, you can't get in." Although this was unfortunate, rules are rules, so we said thanks and turned to walk away.
Within 30 seconds, a large group of 6 girls approached the bouncer with the SAME request, drinks. He asked if they had a reservation, they said no, and he said no problem and let them in. We were baffled. We went back up to him, and still politely at this point, asked him what that was about: if the rule was that you cannot get in without a reservation, why did he just allow a large group of girls in? I understand that club/bar people can be picky about who they let in sometimes, but this is not why we were so taken aback. His behavior was what shocked us. He lied to us, and basically said he didn't know what we were talking about, as if mocking us, the dumb americans. He had a sort of smirk on his face. We were clearly unhappy, bothered customers, and he, along with the 3 bouncers behind him, did not seem to care at all. When we did not leave right away, he raised his voice and got in our faces. He said rude things that we could not understand and began to physically try to move us away. He is a big man, and we are three smaller women, so we decided to cut our losses.
As if the experience could not get worse, two days later, we returned and politely requested to speak to a manager. A few moments later, a man came out, smoking, appearing as if he already did not care what we had to say. We explained our story, searching for some sort of kindness or affirmation that the bouncer had been out of line -- we didn't want anyone else to go through this! Instead, he told is he did not believe us and that that's just the nature of restaurants. He then went on to essentially accuse us of lying. We reiterated, again, that it was not about being denied, but about the bouncer's utter lack of respect. The manager shrugged and basically just walked away.
