There is a varied menu to choose from plus a "specials" board plus a choice of vegetarian options. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and nothing seems to be too much trouble. Just opposite the entrance you will also find a butcher's shop stocked with a wide range if fresh meat. I recommend the cafe to any one and have been going there every week for several months. I looked everywhere for some reasonable priced but full hanging baskets last year and found them here. They were so much more better value than anywhere else I had tried. As well as the usual plants, shrubs and flowers, there is a gift area. The gifts are very pretty and range from baby items, wooden crafted items, cards, ceramics and jewellery. They are quite expensive, but if you are looking for something a bit different to the usual high street stores then you might find something here. There is also a fantastic cafe and the food is gorgeous, with things like home made soup or jacket potatoes on the menu. Chapmans is the best garden centre in the local area; there is a good variety of plants, shrubs and trees, which are reasonably priced and very healthy. The tree section in particular has a wide variety of plants, more impressive than most bigger garden centres. The members of staff are cheerful and helpful, and genuinely understand about the plants they are selling, which is a novelty for a garden centre! It also sells mainly plants and plant related products, rather than the myriad of 'tat' that most garden centres sell. The Topiary Tea Rooms is set in a small wooden building, but has a beautiful outlook onto a sun-soaked patio where wild birds feed very relaxing. They only serve drinks and cakes, but I would definitely recommend the cheese scones. As the weather steadily improves, I would heartily recommend Chapmans as a place to go to rejuvenate your garden.

Our previous flooring plans had been scuppered (due to the choice of travertine tiles on an overly flexilbe floor) and our builders needed an alternative quickly! I had just 2 working days to get hold of some products before having to let our builders go! I placed a small order (just less than £100) over the phone with these guys yesterday afternoon (Thursday). They assured me I should get the flooring tiles by Monday at the latest. I needn't have worried they arrived this afternoon only 24h after the order had been placed! I appreciate this service is partially down to the delivery company and the fact that I only live about 100 miles from their warehouse probably helped. Nonetheless, I was impressed and I would recommend them to anyone!

The garden centre itself has all kinds of gifts, garden furniture, BBQs, gardening tools, ornaments and seasonal decorations on offer, including the largest Christmas trees I have EVER seen, in the winter months. The staff are helpful and very friendly, and the prices are reasonable. The Garden Centre is all on one floor and caters for those with disabilities/ in wheelchairs. This would be perfect for anyone looking for a lovely day out or needing to source gardening aggregates, paving, tools and gifts. They also offer advice, top tips, as well as the occassional seasonal demonstration. Highly recommended.

It's a bit like a shop that sells all the stuff that you find in those betterware type catalogues that always seem to appear through the letterbox. There are some ingenious things sandwiched in between loads of rubbish. They also have some food/ingredient items and general household goods - glasses, cutlery, pots etc. The biggest problem I see is that most of the interesting things that they sell can be found elsewhere, cheaper. I do love to shop and love hunting out a bargain and don't mind wandering about picking up individual items here and there so I tend not to bother with lakeland anymore unless I can't find what I want elsewhere. If you're the type of person who can't or doesn't like to go in search of things and don't mind paying a premium for it all to be in one place then lakeland is fine. The staff seem a bit indifferent too.
