We gave Brad and his crew a $40,000+ project that included trees, irrigation, sod, bushes and 1 palm tree. The palm tree was questionable from the start but we went with it per his guidance. The tree died shortly after 3 months (coincidently the allotted warranty period). Brad told us that he would not warranty the tree and it would be another $500 for a new one and $200 for removal of the old one. 4 of the bushes also look not well and it's questionable if they will make it or not. In addition, he tried to blame our irrigation system on the tree-death; which he also installed and it doesn't go anywhere near the tree. Call me crazy, but if someone just dropped $40K worth of work on my business, I'm going to warranty a $500 tree, no questions asked. Poor business on your part Brad. There's plenty of other options here in the area to choose from, you won't get our support going forward. read more

Incredible folks & amazing experience - Cindy is the best! We looked around at different places for Palm-Trees (just wanted small ones & didn't have thousands to spend!). Cindy is a WEALTH of Palm Tree knowledge, this gal LOVES palm trees and treats each one like it has a SOUL. Even helped advise us on a couple other palms we got that we didn't buy there. Cindy walked us around the property & explained all the deets on each breed of tree/shrub. Answered so many questions - NEVER pushing a sale on us. We settled on 2 qty "3-4 footers" which were actually more like 5-6 (they measure the trunk for 3-4') and these 'baby' trees had great fronds on top. It's AMAZING to know that a 6-8 foot palm (sabal & many others) is around 50-years old???!!! We paid $180 ea, which IMHO was a fair price for this size tree. You can get install for $200/tree (may vary depending on tree size & delivery) and they had a $150 warranty per tree but that's avail. only if you purchase the install - it can add up fast, but we did have to ask 4 cross-fit friends to come help us move them - heavy root ball! read more

The following is my experience with P&L Palms. Great location with serious curb appeal. I purchased two trees from P&L Palms about a year ago and have had nothing but problems with them. I followed the instructions to a T. I had to have Brad and his crew come out to replant the one in the picture because it started to lean following Hurricane Dorian. They came out but it seemed to me they initially had reservations. Fast forward a few months and the tree started to lean again. Additionally, the tree started to look like it had seen better days (as you can see in the picture). I did fertilizer and kept it watered as instructed, careful not to overdo it. My wife stopped by the lot about a month ago and talked to a lady who did not seem too fascinated with our issue. We recently sold our house and rented it back from the new owners while our new house is being built. They stated they may not be able to do anything since this "may" void the warranty. "May" void the warranty. They didn't even know if it voided the warranty and couldn't give us the courtesy to let us know if it did or not. Why does this possibly void the warranty? I purchased them and still live in the same house. Why should this void the warranty? If it did, in fact, void the warranty, I offered to pay to come fix my tree. We stopped by the lot a week or two afterwards and I talked to the same lady my wife spoke to who stated she would have Brad call me. The following Monday.NOTHING. Radio silence. The second tree looks like hell, too. I've paid attention to trees in our new community, Summerhouse on Everett Bay, and they look awesome! I've ascertained where they came from and most people I talked to stated they got them from a different vendor. Bottom line...P&L Palms is HORRIBLE with customer service. They don't care about you or me. I expect good customer service, not to be treated like a 3rd class citizen. I hired a landscaper for our new house with a rather extensive project in June. Hell would have to freeze over before I bought anything or hired P&L Palms to do the job. I wouldn't want anything stamped with P&L Palms in my new yard. This was my experience. I'm certain experiences may differ. There's a reason they struggle with their reviews. I offered the lady payment to just come fix my trees, but nothing. BEWARE of P&L Palms. STAY AWAY. They are unresponsive. Take your business elsewhere, like Pender Pines (which is just down the street) where they treat you how you should be treated. read more

This is my second purchase with P&L. Bought two trees 5 years ago and they are going strong. You have to feed properly depending on your soil. I just had another planted today. The team...Lee, Colby and Chevy are rockstars! The hole was hand dug that the palm was planted in. They were super polite and they worked hard! Special shout out to Chevy....shes damn near a gopher as quick as she digs! These kids were a joy to have on the property and they did a fantastic job planting my moms tree that we bought her for Mothers Day. Lets hope it thrives. As for the experience so far, its been excellent! read more

We went to P&L Palms to look at their Palm Trees. We purchased one and they installed it. It just never took off. Within 3 months the tree was dead - the bottom of it is rotting and black and has sap coming out of it. All the fronds are dead. We called and they offered to waive the removal fee if we purchased another tree - that was $900.00!! They don't care that the tree is dead and that it never grew anything. Not their problem! We are very disappointed. Many of our neighbors have Palms that are healthy and growing. Find another place to purchase your palm from. You will be glad you did. read more

I initially purchased two 14 footers and a needle palm. Approx one year later they seemed to have made it thru hurricaine fine on Topsail Island. This prompted me to buy another one as I have received great proactive service and scheduling from Ken in sales. The guy who delivered the most recent one gave some good pointers to my wife about care of tree. My neighbor thinks they look great and said he plans to purchase some too. I tried to get a referral discount from Ken on my next order but he wouldn't go for it read more

I stopped by to inquire about purchasing pine straw for my home. The gentleman would not give us a rate, but asked if he could swing by to take a look to figure out the amount of pine straw I needed at the house. We already had the square footage needed yet agreed to them coming out to review what we needed at the house. I gave them my name, phone number, Address, and email address. They assured me they would call within the next few days to set a time to come out. That was two weeks ago now. And all I am hearing are crickets... It appears to me that they are not interested in individual business rather they want construction/new home business instead. read more

We purchased a triple palm for the front of our house and had it installed by them and were told that there was a 1-year guarantee on the tree. Up to that point the service was excellent but once the cold snap hit this winter, the tree died. We've called, emailed, and DM'd them several times and got the run-around each time. The funniest part is I was willing to drop another $400 for a new tree if they would have just called us back. Terrible customer service...I recommend anyone that needs landscaping plants/trees go to Pender Pines. read more

At the end of June last year, we had P & L Palm install three palm trees in our front yard. We were told if we paid to have them installed, the palms would be guarantee for a year. There were no specifications or limitations on the guarantee given at that time. We had an usually harsh winter and the three palms looked very bad in early spring. Two months ago, the owner of the company, Brad Wallace, looked at the palms. He told me to give them palm fertilizer and rake the mulch away from the base of the palms, forming a ring around each palm. I had already given them fertilizer and he told me to put the rest of the container on them. I have kept the company owner posted on the condition of the palms. Now, one of the palms does have more than a foot of green growth. However, the trunk of one palm is turning black, has sap coming out it and there are bugs on it. The other palm has no sign of grow with the top having dried palm leaves. On Monday, I took pictures of the palms to the owner. He told me the condition of the palms was my fault because I had put mulch around the palms. When I mentioned the freeze, he said the palms are not covered for "Acts of God" and the freeze was an "Act of God". He then told the guarantee only covers disease and insects. We were never told of these conditions of the Guarantee. I told him there are insects on them and I asked him would look at the palms. He said he would look at the palms but there were a whole lot of people ahead of me. I doubt if I will see him. My experience is he doesn't return telephone calls or keeps appointments. read more
