Late in the season I had to call around to local nurseries in Brunswick County to try and find native milkweed for some hungry monarch caterpillars as they had eaten mine down to the stalk. Shelton Herb Farm had some available but not enough to feed the eating machines that are the monarch cats. Their solution....bring the caterpillars I had to their farm and let them free feed in their milkweed field. This was the kindest offer and literally a life saver. Such thoughtful customer service and so appreciated. Shelton Herb Farm is a charming nursery with a variety of herbs, native plants and garden tchotchkes. Cindy walked us around the property & explained all the deets on each breed of tree/shrub. Answered so many questions - NEVER pushing a sale on us. We settled on 2 qty "3-4 footers" which were actually more like 5-6 (they measure the trunk for 3-4') and these 'baby' trees had great fronds on top. It's AMAZING to know that a 6-8 foot palm (sabal & many others) is around 50-years old???!!! We paid $180 ea, which IMHO was a fair price for this size tree. You can get install for $200/tree (may vary depending on tree size & delivery) and they had a $150 warranty per tree but that's avail. only if you purchase the install - it can add up fast, but we did have to ask 4 cross-fit friends to come help us move them - heavy root ball!

The tree died shortly after 3 months (coincidently the allotted warranty period). Brad told us that he would not warranty the tree and it would be another $500 for a new one and $200 for removal of the old one. 4 of the bushes also look not well and it's questionable if they will make it or not. In addition, he tried to blame our irrigation system on the tree-death; which he also installed and it doesn't go anywhere near the tree. Call me crazy, but if someone just dropped $40K worth of work on my business, I'm going to warranty a $500 tree, no questions asked. Poor business on your part Brad. There's plenty of other options here in the area to choose from, you won't get our support going forward.

I thought i was going to have to get 6-8 cubic yards of high quality dirt for a project. The person I spoke with showed me a cheaper way, getting general fill dirt, then putting mortar sand on top. I was concerned at first about the fill dirt because past experiences other places, the dirt had sticks, rocks, and other things. The fill dirt I received had at most 10 sticks and no rocks. The sticks were small and easy to pick out. Another bonus, I got the dirt at the time it was scheduled to be delivered. There were no delays and they were able to place the dirt exactly where I wanted it. I definitely would recommend them as they are amazing, prompt, and easy to deal with.
