My mom had gone here for rehab. I was never so disappointed in a facility in my life. Not only was…read moreshe worse when she checked herself out, then when she went in. While she was there she was not eating and sleeping for two days. If I was not there to push them to do anything, the testing would not have been done to find out that she had Ilias. Thank goodness it was discovered in time. She was put on an antibiotic, otherwise it could've been pretty serious. Then a few days later, she got Covid and pneumonia and had to go back into the hospital. When she returned there from the hospital she was pretty much put in a room, and really did not get much care. She would ask to get her depends changed and end up sitting in her dirty depends for two hours before anyone would even come and do anything. She had no energy, and could not walk or stand on her own. At this point, she had been going through everything she was going through for eight weeks. She needed help to go to the bathroom. The staff member just pushed the wheelchair to the door and told her to go ahead. My mom asked for a boost and the girl said I'm not hurting my back to help you and left her there. So she could not go to the bathroom. Thank God, I surprised my mom and showed up for a visit that day, because I live out of state. I ended up having to help her to the bathroom and when we got back near her bed, she fell. That same staff member came in and said why didn't you ask for help. That's when I went off on her. She told me she was given the wrong information about my mom's abilities and said that she was giving her tough love. I'm sorry that is not tough love that is abuse. It is Unacceptable to treat, elderly people the way that some of the staff members there treated her. I noticed when I was there with her that she got treated a little bit better. Funny how that works. I used to do that kind of work and I know you don't get paid that much. But if you hate your job that much then go do something else. Because people should not get treated the way that my mom was treated in this facility. Don't get me wrong. There were a few really awesome people that work there. But the majority of them should not be working in that type of facility. I would not send my worst enemy there for care.

Rhonda, who oversees the apartment residents is amazing. Also Tina in housekeeping always is willing to go the extra mile. They understand how to work with the elderly. My uncle also had a stint in the rehab unit, which is excellent as well. Now, unfortunately, he is in hospice on the nursing home wing...but the entire staff is outstanding. The atmosphere is warm and homelike. Unlike the skilled nursing facility that my mother-in-law is in Illinois which is sterile and sad, Glendale has something going on for their residents all the time...there are multiple areas for activities and chatting. The connections between the staff and the residents is authentic and loving. They have a tough job...but 99% of them seem as though this is not a job---but a calling. Whether I'm talking to the Director or to the nurses or housekeeping staff...they all do everything they can to make the residents feel loved. I appreciate how insightful they are and how they are empowered to make suggestions and share ideas on how to make life better for each person. They even let me bring my dog in to visit---allowing him to sleep with my Uncle and visit the other residents. Can't say enough good things. And...even better, is that they are one of the less expensive options. If you are struggling with where to take your loved one---Glendale Gardens is the place to go!

Review of The Gardens Memory Care…read more Parent with a diagnosis of Dementia of Alzheimer's type was there just under 6 months when they requested we find another facility. This was due to increased falls and cognitive decline resulting in mobility issues. We were informed the facility was not staffed to provide walking assistance or wheelchair transfers. We were advised to apply to skilled nursing facilities, but several rejected our request since there are no health issues other than dementia that require skilled care. Administration promised to help find a new facility. However, it became apparent that their "help" was only sending out more referrals to other skilled nursing facilities with no regard to ratings or location. During this process, parent was suddenly moved to a different room with no prior notice. We expressed concerns that this was not in the best interest since we would be relocating to another facility soon. Our concerns were dismissed and the move occurred in less than an hour! This was a direct violation of patient rights of having a written notice before changing rooms or roommates. On the positive side, the CMTs and aides were extremely kind and attentive. These providers were expected to care for residents' needs, dispense medicines, unlock door for visitors, take phone calls, plate food that was sent from the Assisted Living side, serve meals, and clean up. Often there were only 2 people on the floor to do all of these tasks. Needless to say, there were times meals were late due to lack of help! Bottom line: This is Level 1 Memory Care, so as disease advances, they are not equipped to handle the decline. Administration talks a good talk, but it pretty much ends there. While we recognize this is a business, we believe better communication and understanding toward patient families are necessary. The staff members who care for residents are compassionate and positive. They bond with residents, and it is apparent they truly care about them. Staff deserves a 5-star rating, but the overall facility rating is lower due to administrative decisions.

I was very impressed and will definitely put this independent living home complex at the top of our family's list to consider and learn more about. Thank you to the associate that was so kind and gracious to show me around. This is such a big decision for a family to make and you sincerely made me feel that each resident is important there.

Nick and Julie are angels. All of the staff that worked with mom were absolutely the best. it's wonderful how the staff would come in and play games with mom, dance with her, do her nails, sing karaoke and lots of other activities! The rest are just so quick to pound down the morphine. My dad is laying here NOT in pain and he doesn't have anxiety. Yet they are pushing morophine. It makes zero sense. I ordered them, (yes ordered because I feel THAT strongly about it) to NOT give him morophine. Looks like my opinion doesn't even matter. These people do what they want and it is NOT in the patients best interest. 0/10 would never recommend this company. Boasting about 140+ patients. Shame on you!

Turners Rock is a truly outstanding senior living community! The building is modern--only about…read morefive years old--and offers independent living, assisted living, and memory care. Unlike many other senior communities, Turners Rock is bright, contemporary, and impeccably clean. The floor plans are especially impressive, with spacious layouts and large bedrooms--something you rarely find in other senior living options around Springfield. But what truly sets Turners Rock apart is the warm, welcoming community and the exceptional staff. Brad, the director, is friendly, responsive, and genuinely devoted to the residents. The activity director, Will, is absolutely PHENOMENAL--charming, personable, and hilarious! He constantly goes above and beyond to keep residents engaged and entertained. One creative example: he prints "funny money" with residents' photos that they earn at activities and spend at a monthly auction. The Turners Rock driver, Lezlie, is incredible--she takes my mom to doctor's appointments and has even taken her shopping at the mall. She always goes the extra mile (pun intended!). My mom loves the variety of activities , events, and outings that Will plans. There are about six activities each day--like exercise classes, trivia, book club, Bible study, bingo, Wheel of Fortune, bocce ball, movies, and more. Residents can also take the shuttle bus for picnics, plays, movies, and restaurant outings. The on-site restaurant is contemporary and open for dining between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. (I believe). The servers know the residents by name and even remember many of their preferences. The menu offers plenty of options along with daily specials. Sometimes the chef even names dishes after residents, which is such a thoughtful touch. The desserts are always amazing, and family members often visit during meal times--just $7 for breakfast and $10 for lunch or dinner. My parents moved into the independent living section in October 2023. My dad later transitioned to the Memory Care Unit for a few months before he passed away. It was a huge relief for my mom to know he was safe and well cared for during that time. And he was just steps away, so my mom could easily visit him each day. I live in California and have stayed at Turners Rock seven times since my parents moved in. Knowing my mom is surrounded by friends and supported by such a compassionate, capable team brings me tremendous peace of mind. I'm so grateful to everyone at Turners Rock. 10/10 recommend!
