Songs, jokes with audience involvement. Then Emo Phillips came out. A legend from the '80's and '90's. H great brand of comedy and witty dialogue. They both joined on stage for a short set. The theater is a bit old but the people running it are doing a fine job of trying to keep this venue open with a variety of entertainment. Most if not all people working there are volunteers. We attended the play "Harvey" last night and it was our first time in a theatre in many, many…read moreyears. What a surprise to find out that there was a play house in a small town like Versailles, but it was a lovely surprise. First of all, the tickets are only $10 for an adult and $5 for a child and there were many children there. The seats seemed to be the original seats, but they've been recovered as they were comfy and cushy. They were also wide enough to fit my butt, but not comfy to fall asleep in. :-) I understand that it used to be a movie theater, complete with a balcony, which is no longer there. As you enter, if you go to your left, there is a medium sized room which some very clever people have turned into an art gallery. There is also a small snack bar with sodas, popcorn and water for a $1 each...no gouging here. There are three restrooms, one for men, one for women and one for families. The line for the ladies room was very long during the intermission, so one of the older ladies commandeered the men's room! There doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the small theater, and the actors were kind enough to speak very loudly. The majority of the crowd were older folks who seemed to really enjoy the play. The parking on the street is FREE, although there is nowhere to go afterward for a cocktail or coffee. It seems like all the folks involved in the theater have been doing this for many years, and they are also volunteers. The love for the theater and their craft is evident...please support this little gem.

I couldn't tell you what we watched, but I remember we actually "dressed up" to get on a school bus and ride over an hour for that event. Fast forward at least 20 years, I still got excited (not too dressed up) to see Shrek at SLT. Springfield Little Theatre is located in the historic part of downtown Springfield. They have done so much work cleaning up, restoring and attracting new businesses in the downtown area. I REALLY like Springfield's downtown mix of restaurants, arts, businesses, salons - there is truly something for all ages. Needs a little more parking, but I don't know of any downtown area that doesn't struggle with parking challenges. Back to SLT - my sister, her friend and I all saw "Shrek". I have watched the movies a million times, but still loved the play. I was incredibly impressed by the cast, music, and the amazing costuming! The price for the show was $35 (I think) which isn't cheap, but really isn't bad when you consider a full night of entertainment. Since this is a review of SLT not Shrek - I will focus a little more on that. SLT has a TON of events (not just performances) and educational opportunities available throughout the community. The educational outreach impresses me the most. What a unique chance for kids (and not kids) to take part in the classes, workshops and productions. The prices appear to be quite reasonable and if I did have children- I would really want them to consider the activities and volunteer opportunities. I certainly wasnt expecting the gem they call center stage, what a wonderful academy of performing arts. My daughter has participated in voice classes, theatre and Jazz and has loved every single one of them. She also participated in the aladdin production this summer and both my husband I was shocked at how well the production was performed and put together. We enjoyed it that much that we watched it twice. Everyone at center stage is super friendly and for what you get the prices are pretty reasonable.

Refused to refund the deposit after their last-minute changes to child masking policy…read more I am very disappointed and disgusted with CPAC. I should not have to argue with a company about returning MY money when a service is not rendered. CPAC changed its child masking policy after the deposit deadline and is now masking all children except toddlers. You can believe what you want about masking children, and private businesses are entitled to whatever discriminatory COVID policies they want. However, as a consumer, I have the right not to do business with companies that do not align with the values I feel are best for my family. I am utterly opposed to children being required to wear masks during physical activity, especially young children. CPAC touts that their staff is 100% vaccinated, and for the last year and a half, they did not mask children under ten. They were socially distanced, isolated in their classrooms, and used hand sanitizer before and after class. There were zero incidents of COVID among the children's classes to my knowledge; if there was, it was not disclosed to the parents. When I enrolled my child, this was the policy, and I was ok with it. Once they made these last-minute policy changes, I withdrew my child. When I requested a refund of my deposit, CPAC refused to refund my money. I was offered credit, which I declined because they have no clear date set to reverse these policies, and I will not be using the credit for any classes in the foreseeable future. I also refused their store credit because why would I waste my money paying a premium for an item I can order online for half the price. I was told that their policy only allows refunds for medical issues, and I expressed that this is a medical issue for me; at that point, they said they disagreed with my opinion. After phone conversations and serval emails back and forth, CPAC refused any concession or accommodation whatsoever. I have been a customer of CPAC since last fall and, I do not appreciate the hostility and condescending tone I have experienced during this disagreement. All of this, over $50, shows how much CPAC really cares about its customers.

The seating is quite tight, many people weren't expecting it to be that tight I guess and weren't happy about it but it's an old theater so it is what it is. The line to the bar is a bit confusing. They have alcoholic beverages and nonalcoholic. Loved the popcorn in a box, was easy to carry. The performance was great, lots of great dancers and beautiful costumes.

It features an interesting selection of pickled veggies, mixed nuts, cheese curds, variety of sausage, bread and meatballs. The dipping sauces were great. Next we had the pepperoni flat bread with hot honey and bacon wrapped figs with goat cheese. Both excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a very cozy and has lots of seating options. It's laid back and comfortable to sit back and enjoy a flight of hand crafted beer and tasty food.
