Music greeted us, and it was beautifully and thoughtfully decorated throughout. We enjoyed our perch on the small deck outside where we saw birds and a beautiful forest. We enjoyed our own lunch on the patio/deck area in the front area. Our room had a chalkboard that greeted us with our names when we arrived. The room was spotless with not a sign of the bugs and spiders that I have an extreme aversion to. One example of the thoughtfulness exhibited was the ice in the freezer as well as the microwave, coffee maker, fridge, and cute furniture with friendly mooses all around. We went to the Holy Land tour before the Passion Play. My suggestion is go early as we spent 7 hours doing this, and it was exhausting. But well worth it. If I did it again, I'd take a break between the Holy Land tour and the play as it was quite hot.

I contacted Dave at Eureka Sunset Cabins and he contacted the vendor and arranged for my refund; which he did not have to do. I am incredibly impressed with Dave and his exemplary customer service. Eventually, I will be able to thank him in person and enjoy a visit to Eureka Springs and Eureka Sunset Cabins.

Sometimes we stay in the old hotels downtown and other times we decide to stay on the lake. I like both options, but I will say the peacefulness out on the lake is so nice. If you're on the fence about it, please know you should have zero hesitation about staying at Beaver Lake Cottages. These are very nice little "homes" ... I had cottage #1 and it was quaint and comfortable. White wood inside, clean carpeting, a kitchen with all the trimmings, and a Jacuzzi tub below a large window facing the woods. Even the couch was nice - and you know the couch is like the first thing to go in a community room. This cottage was honestly some place I would actually live in - like a studio apartment since bed and living room are together. But it was homey, cozy, well-appointed and very, very clean. The cottages are relatively easy to find. There is a well-lit sign at the entrance to the driveway that you'd have to try very hard to miss, even at night. The cottages are built along a pretty steep hill along the path to the lake, but it wasn't trouble by any means. At night, when we arrived, it was a bit nerve-wracking since I didn't know what the area actually looked like - all you see is a narrow lane and black space. But it's honestly not bad at all. Some things to note: cell phone service is just okay down there. I have AT&T and there were times my phone would show No Service but then I'd move an inch to my left and I'd have 1 or 2 bars. There is a phone in each cottage, but it's on a party line so you have to share. Also, you cannot use their phones to receive calls; outgoing only. Lastly, there is Wi-Fi but it's slow and spotty. It actually worked better when I went outside to sit on the deck - which would be fine in warmer weather, but it's not always warm. Overall, we would stay here again in a heartbeat. Downtown Eureka is a 15-20 minute drive away so it's close enough yet far away for some real rest and relaxation.

They'll ask us where to find clean, reasonably priced accommodations that are conveniently located and run by nice folks. Well, we seldom if ever recommend pricey bed & breakfasts in Eureka, as they're above mosts folks' price ranges. Instead, we just tell most folks to call Land-O-Nod for good, clean, reasonably priced accommodations in Carroll County. (We ourselves have stayed there when we're in town and our own place is booked.) Basic but nice complimentary breakfast, btw.
