Ribs were great, corn was fantastic and the slaw was ok. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich with Mac and cheese and slaw. Excellent pulled pork, good Mac and cheese and the slaw. Having spent many years traveling through seven different states, including plenty of time in Louisiana and New Orleans, I've had my share of gumbo. To put it kindly, this wasn't one of the better ones. It lacked the dark roux that gives gumbo its signature flavor, had very little liquid, and mostly consisted of chunks of chicken and okra over a pile of rice. The gator bites were probably the best thing I tried -- even though I only tasted one, it was quite good. The red beans and rice were decent, with the highlight being the sausage, though there were only three or four very thin slices. I'd love to find that sausage again! The shrimp and grits I sampled had good, creamy grits, tasty shrimp, and a tomato-based étouffée-style sauce that worked well together. The waitress was prompt, the food arrived hot and on time, and overall it was a decent experience -- but not quite what I'd consider a true Cajun restaurant.

Their top guide is a little arrogant, but knows how to find the trout and will drift fish rather than anchor, which was nice. Would I return? Probably. However, I'd make most of my meals in the cabin and just do a dinner in the restaurant. One thing that's nice is they will cook your catch in the restaurant and prepare to your specifications.
