I had a piece in mind to cover up an older tattoo. Donna was amazing and recognized right away that it wasn't the right fit for that part of my body. So we talked it over and figured a piece that I liked. We made an appt for two sessions within two weeks of each other (btw she is super popular, I had to wait 5 months to get my first appt). I was very happy with the coverup part. And was even happier when the whole piece came together and was done. Donna is warm and friendly, and doesn't make things awkward! I most likely will be back for another consult when I'm ready for another piece!

Instagram is a beautiful thing. Lol As soon as I saw her style and quality of work, I had to make an appointment. I messaged her through Instagram and she told me to call in to schedule a consultation. I spoke with the friendly receptionist and I had a consult scheduled easily within the next few days. Due to covid I was really hesitant of going anywhere since this virus is literally taking over the world lol. But anyways I went in and met Denise. She was very efficient and personable. We talked about what I wanted and she was excited to come up with ideas. Which I knew no matter what it'd turn out dope. Due to my hectic schedule and hers as well we found a date that worked. She requires a $60 deposit that will go towards your tattoo. Definitely understandable just in case I was a flake. Our tattoo artists time is precious. Especially if we are having them sketch an original piece just for you. When I arrived for my actual appointment, I came in 15min early. Just so I could give courtesy to Denise and of course paperwork. I was so excited when she showed me what she drew up. She listened to everything I f*cking wanted. Ayyyyyeeeeee! Finally a tattoo artist I felt 100% confident in. Denise was very thoughtful of placement and what looked good on me. I've had tattoos done from a few different artists around the world and I'll say Denise was the best one I've Eva had. :P AHUUUAHHHH! I'm not even trying to front for this review. I'm just stating facts. The ambiance of the facility was the cherry on top. It was cleanly, modern, and just well thought out. I felt comfortable taking off my mask and relaxing while Denise did her thang. Her playlist was pretty fiya too. I wish I could add emojis to this but just know I was vibing. I want to preface by saying that my interaction with Will was phenomenal from the beginning until…read morethe end of my tattooing experience. I wanted to get a henna-inspired tattoo for my 31st birthday, and I quickly found that getting an artist in the area to work with me was not an easy feat. I was turned down twice before I came across Tattoo Technique (it was explained to me that a lot of artists are intimidated to do this style). Will, however, was very open and welcoming when I walked into his shop and showed him a variety of photos that I was really drawn toward, and he discussed what his ideas were that he would love to incorporate. I didn't have any set final product in my head, so anything that he could come up with that would mesh elements of what I was explaining to him had a high probability of exciting me. I gave him a $40 dollar cash deposit that day and he got to work on a sketch for me. A day or so later I checked in with him about what he came up with, and I thought his design was stunning. I came in and got the job done with him a day or so later. We conversed tons during the visit, and I appreciated his attitude and care during the visit. He properly sanitized myself and the needles, and I overall enjoyed the vibe of the shop. By the time I left, I felt like I had not only gained a fabulous tattoo that I couldn't be more pleased with, but also a new friend. Couldn't have asked for a better dude. I am certainly coming back for my next tattoo. He specializes in traditional Chinese art! My next choice is a phoenix, and I know he won't disappoint. Highly recommend. I'm posting to warn others that SMITTY does hire underlings that have problems, and I assume he does this on purpose to give these people a chance, people that others would never hire. I went to Smittys to get an extremely simple tattoo, two words bordering my collarbone in Greek. These words were inspired by Victor Hugo's preface in The Hunchback of Notre-Dame. Smitty was busy so I was turned over to a different artist. She took issue with me right away, was condescending and claimed I was incorrect and that The Hunchback is a French book. I agreed that it is indeed a French book but in the preface Victor Hugo explains that the Hunchback carves in Greek in the bell tower. She continues to be skeptical and rude and raises her voice at me. This is a bizarre experience for me. I am in the middle of cancer treatment and getting the words "fate" and "need" tattooed on me as a last resort, a kind of hope for me. This tattoo artist is like a tick in my arm, such a minuscule setback. Eventually Smitty himself has to come over and clarify that the Hunchback had a classical Jesuit education and therefore would have been educated in Greek. She looks down and says "I never read the preface anyway." Well La-de-da, glad to know. The whole experience was degrading. She put the print on my body crooked and I asked her to fix it and she got upset with me. She still tattooed it on me crooked! She quizzed me on book knowledge the entire time. She charged me $150!!!! Pretty sure she added that last $50 out of spite. I tried to end on a good note and offered to lend her a rare Hungarian book my Laszlo Krasznahorkai. She laughed in my face and said she "probably already had it," as I was leaving she was still laughing at me. I was warned by another person at Smittys BEFORE I got the tattoo that she has a reputation for not getting along with people, but I am Buddhist so I figured I can handle it, but tattooing purposefully crooked is wrong, utterly wrong.
