The Oxford has not been remodeled since 1933. The 1920's soda fountain still serves real milkshakes. They are known for Havre's own Rocky Mountain hot dogs and pork chop John's sandwiches. I stepped into yet another restaurant with no windows. What's up with that anyway? And pulled up a stool at the bar. It wasn't long before I was getting to know my neighbors.They said Oxfords has some of the best food in town. A place they've frequented since they were teens. Carol is 69 and George is 68. The bartender was equally friendly and quick on his feet. Took care of me quickly and helped me picked out menu items. I munched away on a Rocky Mountain hot dog and a vanilla shake. Nothing fancy but definitely delicious! There's nothing like homemade ice cream. And they cut the hot dog in half and loaded it up with goodies. I don't know why none of the buildings have windows in Havre. Well, not many of them do. So it was kind of nervewracking to go in, but I'm very glad I did. I had a wonderful experience! The bartender even plucked a picture off the wall to show me what downtown Havre used to look like. Many of the buildings are gone and it doesn't shimmer quite like that of an evening. read more

This place has average bar food. They have a couple pool tables and a dartboard, plus tons of room to just hang out. They don't accept debit cards though, but they recently got an ATM. Edit: As of August 2013 they raised their prices by 40%, the music is generally a mix of Kid Rock or country music, and the bar just really isn't worth going to anymore. Try the Palace. read more

I would like to start off with that the first time I went to the bar I had fantastic service and drinks. Ever since then the beer being served has been flat and the bartender has a no idea how to even pour a beer. The bartenders choose how they price their drinks since in the last month I have had 3 different prices for the same drink. When I told the bartender that the beer was flat I got told there was nothing she could do about it. The pool tables are not even close to being level. I have been to the bar three times thinking and hoping I would get the same service as the first time and I have gotten service that is well below par the last two times. Even my friend that has been a bartender for 3 years commented on the poor services and the employee's ability to serve the customers. I have no intentions of returning and if you do decide to go I hope that you have better service then I did. read more
