Dr. Owens has always been prompt on getting me in when have dental problems. He explains what needs to be done and what options available. He also gives the price before doing work. It's all about the dentist! I first saw Dr Owens over 20 yrs ago. I always made sure my family got regular dental care, but I didn't go, thinking my teeth were too crooked. The previous two dentists I saw for extractions wanted me to wear braces, which seemed pointless and embarrassing to me, after 40. I finally found Dr Owens; he never pressured me to straighten my teeth. He gently explained my teeth weren't too crooked for care; I could avoid disease and keep those remaining with regular dental care. He cured my pain by filling two very large cavities, not promising how long they would last because of their size. I finally had one capped 15 yrs later, the other remains over 20 yrs later. I can't believe he was as harsh as described in one review - maybe there's more to that story that she's not telling or telling inaccurately. She admitted she already hated him, and had not felt comfortable around him since 10. At 15, if she felt that way, why would she not want her parent with her, saying she was old enough to go alone? Sure sounds a little odd to me, but I don't know, since I wasn't there. Perhaps some patients are more problematic than others. As for his claimed mistreatment of children, my son never had a problem with him and always liked him. All I can say is that for over 20 years he's always been very proficient, professional, prompt, kind, soft spoken and compassionate with me and my family. I wouldn't go anywhere else! read more

If I could leave a negative star I would. This office is out of control. Carla (one of the dental hygienists) released my HIPAA and PHI to another patient without my consent. Due to Dr. Owens lack of interest in correcting his staff's bad behavior, I chose to leave and find a new dentist. My father has been seeing Dr Owens for several years. My father has to see him more often than every 6 months due to teeth issues. Dr Owens has put several crowns on my Dad's teeth. Due to lack of professionalism from Jeannie (bookkeeper) my parents changed dentists. The new dentist discovered my Dad had cavities in every tooth. Dr. Owens put crowns over teeth w/cavities. Untreated cavities can cause infections, heart issues and a whole host of other issues. He has to have all of his teeth pulled and have full dentures. Dr Owens refuses to speak to patients if issues or concerns arise. He needs to retire. He doesn't care about his patients. He is only concerned about money. He doesn't care that his staff violates HIPAA, gossips about his patients or can't provide basic customer service. It's time for Dr. Owens to retire. read more

First of all, you know it's bad when a 16 yr old takes the time to write a review for a literal DENTIST. I have gone to Owens since I was around 10. I never felt comfortable with him, and he just made me feel off. He was always very rude and downright harsh, especially to kids because probably felt he could get away with it. The last time (thank God!) I visited him, I was 15. Went in for a cavity filling, it wasn't my first time. I get the shot they put in your mouth that makes it numb. Owens asks me if "I can't feel anything". I mishear him and say no, think I was agreeing to the fact I couldn't feel anything. He comes back with another shot (I can't feel my face, it was already that strong) and realize my mistake. I try to explain to him the situation as he keeps moving towards me and I keep pulling back. I'm telling him no, I have enough, I don't need more. Finally he grabs my face, jerks it towards him, jams the shot in my gums while yelling at me to stay still. And I mean YELLING at me. I was shocked, I'd always hated him, but this crossed the line. As embarrassing as it was I started crying and Owens just walked away. The sweet assistant tried to comfort me, but that was it. During the filling, Owens didn't speak to me, never an apology, nothing. I should've gotten up as soon as he yelled, but I didn't. I told my mom later that afternoon. Both she and my dad had an angry conversation with the office, and none of us go to his office anymore. This is going to sound so dumb, but the past months prior to this visit, I was struggling with depression. When this occurred, it was the last straw for me, and I started to spiral. I just think it says a lot with how a doctor treats his patients. It's horrible, and I'm probably not the only one he's treated this way. Please please please don't go to Owens! He doesn't deserve your business, and you don't deserve to be abused by him! If you absolutely have to, be careful, go back with your children/teens. Even if they say "I'm old enough" like I told my mom, do it anyways. He's much less likely to do anything questionable.
