They were unaware that such a thing even existed until i texted them, "I'm in room ____, when you arrive, please press the doorbell. It will flash inside my room, and I'll know to come to the door." Also, this is the first hotel I've encountered in years that had closed captions turned on, and usually I have to ask for them because hotels hide the remote control. The staff was friendly, but i had limited interaction with them. I tend to use the Hilton app, which bypasses the entire "You're talking, but I'm Deaf" conversation. The app lets you share the key with whoever is staying with you, and you can hide the room number. Plus, checking out is as simple as tapping the option. On a side note, if you need to use the restroom and you're not too fond of rest areas or truck stops, hotels like Home2, Hampton, and Holiday Inn are good, safe options for first-floor public restrooms. They should all be cleaner than the initial options mentioned above, and I know this Home2 was very clean.

We called Quality Inn, explained our concern and the woman on duty went to the room we had stayed in, found our charger cord and called us back to let us know she had found it. The next day we called again about getting the charger and the manager said he'd mail it to us if we gave a credit card number for him to bill us for the cost. He sent it out on a Tuesday and it was on our doorstep on the following Thursday! The cost for mailing was $10.85 - much cheaper than buying a new plug and cord ! Needless to say we are very appreciative and have only good things to say about the Quality Inn in Owatonna, MN.

All of the other reservations for that evening cancelled so when I showed up the man behind the counter had assumed that I had cancelled and told me that my reservation (and cheaper room) had been cancelled due to the weather and I would have to pay the normal room rates. Through a very frustrating phone call with Priceline, and forcing them to refax my reservation I finally got checked in, and settled would not really be the way I would put it. The room was very dated. I know that I got a great deal on it, but you could still smell the lingering scent of smoke that some of these older hotels have. The carpet, drapes, furniture, and heaters all had dust covering them. The bathroom was very dated, and while I could tell it had been cleaned it was still tinged different colors than the original tile, and the fixtures were scratched up and blackened with deposit. The old mantra goes, "You get what you pay for." I got an old smelly room that needed a good cleaning, but I paid very very little to stay there for two nights. All in all we will call it a wash. I can't have expected more for what I paid, and they can't have provided better for more.

This location was trending a bit higher than the other budget options but generally I'm happy with Super 8 when I'm looking to go cheap. There are several good things about my stay. The staff was amazing, friendly and responsive. Its clear management cares about the property and it's clean and well cared for. The downsides mostly stem from it's age. This was clearly build in late 70's and the elements that are hard to change like trim and doors and carpet still show it. They have made many updates such as paint and new furniture and artwork, but fine touches like updating outlet covers and removing popcorn texture or replacing carpeting would help alot to make it feel more modern. The rooms are SMALL, or at least mine was. Think of how small a microtel room is and go a smidge smaller. That's not a bad thing but for the price it's too small. The bed and pillows were about what I'd expect out of super 8 - not uncomfortable but nothing amazing. Updating the pillows, mattress, and bedding would go a long way to justifying the nightly rate they are charging. The other miss was no breakfast. Maybe they closed it early? I walked in at 9a or just after on a weekday and the room was dark and nothing was set out aside from coffee. All in all, it's a pleasant property and if not for the price I'd rate it higher. I paid $90 for a queen for the night and in my view that's about 20 dollars high. That said, your other options in town appear to include bed bugs and none were encountered here so that's a plus.

Scarlett's customer service went above and beyond expectations, she definitely turned our stay around.
