We both had burgers (he completely finished his). I ordered their cheeseburger medium rare and it was mostly just rare on the inside but grilled a thin layer on the outside. I've also not been too impressed with their tagliere (meat and cheese) appetizer. Because their beer selection is pretty good and they have a huge menu though, we decided to give them a 2nd chance. I ordered a pizza this time around and enjoyed it! We've been back several times since and now that I stick with the pizzas (any of their pies with buffala are great!), I never go wrong. Because they have such a big menu, it's a good spot to take visitors as there's literally something for everyone -- vegetarians, meat eaters, Italian food lovers, German food lovers... They even have a couple dishes with basmati rice and curry sauce. What puts Kofler over the top for me is the fact they have Franziskaner Hefeweizen, my favorite beer, on draft all the time!

Pub Santa Lucia was the only place we could find to watch the women's olympic volleyball final…read morematch in Venice that was within a 10 min walk from our hotel. (You would've thought USA vs Italy would've attracted more local attention.) SL was a tiny place, but thankfully mostly empty; we plopped ourselves down and ordered some cold beers (pilsner for me, it being a hot afternoon). They had a decent beer list here - several standard styles from the British isles. I noted they also had some locally made brews (I didn't try them) plus Guinness (a necessity for such a place). The vibe wasn't very Irish beyond the decor and dark interior. The bartender was playing some euro pop on the sound system. Snacks were offered - mostly bread rolls, small sandwiches, and cuts off some oblong pizzas. We sampled a few of the latter to go with our beers. (They were OK.) As for the volleyball, the USA got spanked. Thankfully no celebration from the other side; most of the other patrons were either Americans or Brits. And the Italian bartender didn't seem to care. It's not clear why so many previous patrons have awarded a full 5 stars for SL. (Vacation glee?) For us it met a basic need but was priced high for tourists. I'll give them three stars, plus one extra for offering the game.

Played nothing but American music while we were here. Mostly 90s grunge and classic rock. Right up my alley! They have a full bar and can make pretty much anything you want. The taps are flowing with authentic Italian beers! Overall, I had fun and would recommend it.

We took a stroll today through the centro and decided to stop here for lunch. We each tried something different and were pleasantly surprised by every choice. One thing I noticed is that the staff can get by in English. They put up with my attempt to use my weeks worth of Italian. I made a blunder here and there, but they were patient to figure out what I was trying to get at. This is already my second visit and I know I will be back. This is the perfect spot to bring family and friends to eat lunch and enjoy Vicenza.
