25. Szechuan Scallops and Shrimp Chef's Special
Krystal M.

It has been years and years since I've been here and had find memories of the food here so when I found myself near here I decided to get some takeout. There were some young employees working which I'm all for, except one young man was seated with his feet up when I walked in and he did not move to help me, just said welcome and have a seat anywhere. Very laid back atmosphere! I ordered the Szechuan shrimp and scallops and the fried chicken with mushrooms with an egg drop and hot sour soup, and the bao bao platter. I don't know if it's changed ownership or chef since the last time I was here but it just didn't have that umami I was looking for. Overall it was ok, and I probably won't go out of my way to eat here again.

Good food and lots of it. Definitely good for takeout and leftovers. Egg drop soup was delicious.

Wow -- this place blew us away! The service was super fast, and every single dish we ordered was fantastic. My husband even said it might be the best Chinese restaurant we've ever eaten at (and he doesn't say that lightly!). Portion sizes were generous, and we had plenty of leftovers -- which reheated just as deliciously the next day. We're from out of state, but this spot will definitely be a must-stop for us anytime we're in Colorado Springs. Nothing back home even comes close to the quality or flavor here. Can't say enough good things -- highly recommend!

This super tiny place was suggest by. Local librarian! Very cozy inside, but neat and clean. We were asked to choose any place to sit. Nearly immediately we were given menus and asked if we'd like drinks. Service was fast and courteous! Food was hot and flavorful! Fountain drinks were plentiful with refills. Food portions are generous- plenty for two meals!! Can't wait to come back. We each had the lunch special which came w crab Rangoon and egg roll, fried or steamed rice and one soup!!!

The service was amazing and the portions were definitely appetizing! They anticipated my needs before I needed them. One of the best restaurants I've ever been too, and the place was very charming and welcoming. Very satisfied and will return!!

Great service, good portions, good food! Affordable and quick. I had the sesame chicken:read more

**Ambiance** The…read morerestaurant itself is a decent size with plenty of seating and large booths, so it would be comfortable for families or larger groups. **Service** Service was great. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and welcoming. The staff spoke English as well as either Cantonese or Mandarin, which initially gave me high hopes for the food. **Food** I won't lie--I came in with pretty moderate expectations. After chatting with the staff in both Mandarin and Cantonese, I thought we were in for a really authentic meal. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. We ordered five dishes, and it quickly became apparent that the food is heavily catered toward American tastes. Several dishes contained ingredients that traditionally wouldn't be included, while other key ingredients were missing altogether. The biggest issue for me was the sweetness. Three of the five dishes were noticeably sweet, which isn't what I expected from the dishes we ordered. The standout dish of the meal was the Mongolian Beef. It was flavorful and wasn't overly sweet. That said, it lacked the spice I typically associate with the dish. The Mapo Tofu was probably the biggest surprise. It was missing the ground pork that usually gives the dish so much flavor and texture. Instead, it included bell peppers, onions, and water chestnuts--ingredients I've personally never seen in Mapo Tofu. Rather than being spicy and numbing, the dominant flavor was sweetness. The Chicken Pan-Fried Noodles were difficult to enjoy. The sauce was very sweet, and the noodles were cooked to the point where they were tough and chewy. Instead of the thinner noodles commonly used for this dish, they used thick noodles that reminded me more of lo mein. We also ordered a Beef and Scallion dish. It felt more like a beef chop suey variation with scallions added. The scallions themselves were cooked perfectly, but once again the sauce leaned much sweeter than expected. The Hot and Sour Soup was actually the first item to arrive. I jokingly told my family that if the soup wasn't good, I might be worried about the rest of the meal because hot and sour soup is one of those dishes that really showcases balance and technique. Unfortunately, it ended up confirming my concerns. It lacked the bold sour and spicy flavors that make the dish so enjoyable. By the end of the meal, we had a lot of leftovers. The only items we brought home were the Mongolian Beef and a few pieces of beef picked out from the Beef and Scallion dish. **Overall** This restaurant may appeal to diners who enjoy sweeter, Americanized Chinese food, but it wasn't for me. Based on this visit, I wouldn't return, and I wouldn't personally recommend it to anyone looking for the flavors and dishes I grew up eating.

The booth cushions need to be redone-BADLY. And those heavy wooden captains chairs are not fit for a restaurant and need to be replaced. Spend some money and get furniture that better suits the decor. From now on, I'm only ordering take-out. Service is very good. However, I will NEVER sit in those booths again.

I got the sesame chicken, and we also ordered the Happy Family lunch special. Each meal came with an egg roll, one cream cheese wonton, and your choice of soup: egg drop, wonton, or hot and sour soup. Both plates were flavorful and seasoned well. The crab wontons were especially good. The egg roll was tasty too, but it had a little too much pepper for my liking. I still ate the whole thing though lol. We also tried the fantail shrimp, and those were definitely a must-have. For dessert, we got the sesame balls. They were good and pretty much what you'd expect from sesame balls. I also ordered a Thai tea, but it wasn't my favorite, it didn't have any flavor and probably not something I'd get again. The service was excellent, and the restaurant was very clean. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be back.
