At 12:40 a group of 12 people arrived and were seated. As we were waiting for our order to get taken we watched the waitress take the order of the 12 person party. Finally at 1:00pm our order was taken and the waitress apologized for the wait. At 1:20 the table with the party of 12 received all of their food. The waitress stopped by again and apologized again saying that she asked the cook to make our sandwiches first. This is the point where I asked for the bill. The waitress brought the bill and it was $51 for the food that we did not receive yet. I thought maybe they would take some of the price of due to the situation, but they did not since I didn't complain and was trying to keep my cool. Long story short, we got our food at 1:40 in take out boxes and I did still leave a 20% tip. We were late getting back to work and still didn't have time to eat our food. We were having a great time until, completely out of the blue, the owner approached us and told us that if the kids broke any of the games, we would be responsible for paying for them because they are 30 years old. I completely understand wanting to protect valuable, vintage equipment. That is reasonable. What was not reasonable was the way it was communicated. There is a right way and a wrong way to address customers, especially families who are there spending money and trying to enjoy themselves. I was so uncomfortable with the interaction that I went to our server, who was incredibly kind and sweet, and told her we were going to leave and simply pay for our drinks. She even offered to have the drinks put into to-go cups. At that point, the other female owner, who was sitting at the bar, commented that the games were 30 years old and that we should "parent our kids." Excuse me? We absolutely understand the responsibility of supervising our children. What we did not expect was to be spoken to in that manner by the owners of an establishment we were patronizing. As someone who was also raised in the hospitality industry, I understand that protecting your business and your property is important. But hospitality is also about how you communicate with your customers. A simple, friendly, "Hey guys, just a heads up--these games are vintage and we ask that the kids please be careful with them" would have accomplished the exact same thing without making your customers feel unwelcome or insulted. We came in excited to introduce our out-of-town friends and their kids to your establishment. Instead, we left embarrassed and disappointed. The food may be great, but unfortunately, great food doesn't make up for making your customers feel unwelcome. I sincerely hope this is something the owners take to heart, because there was a much better way to handle this situation.

We set up our chairs on the street next to Molasses, near the stage. And... we became hungry and benefitted from Molasses. We were able to order and enjoy the wonderfully tasty burnt ends before they were sold out; we also enjoyed some tasty street corn and some adult and non-alcoholic beverages. They all seem to have the country Honky Tonk bar appearance, and I suppose that's what people expect. The staff was reasonably attentive, although they weren't terribly busy the night I've visited so I suppose they didn't have a lot to do, lol. I ordered the ribs with a side of coleslaw. Overall the ribs were fine, but they weren't quite as tender as I'm used to. As I recall the coleslaw was adequate but nothing special. Pricing was a little on the high side, but I get it that it cost money to run a place like this. Overall I don't think I would be inclined to come back.
