I've bought stuff here many times over the last 7 or 8 years and they've always had what I needed. They've always been helpful. They're not as cheap as the box stores but they're nearby and they've been knowledgeable about my issues. I've had to return something that was the wrong size and it was no problem. I had a horrible experience with the owner of this store and will never shop here again. If I could give negative stars I would. My husband bought two items totaling 12.28 . He had an issue not having his glasses while using his debit card and was charged 45.52, which she said she would reverse and had him run his card again for the 12.28. On the next business day I contacted her and my bank. On that day she assured me that she had reversed the charge to wait 24-48hrs. Three business days later I contacted her again because my bank said it was a direct charge ,no reversal, this time I get a horrible attitude from her because I had contacted my bank. She told me that she was in no hurry to do anything and that it was my husband's fault! So I am going through my bank to settle this but it will be over a week before the money will be returned to my account. So beware of this business if you are using a card. Because of the rude behavior of the owners I will drive the distance to any other hardware store. read more

I grew up in this small Texas town and I remember the old Hughes Lumber Yard. Mr. Hughes knew all his product and even though his customer interaction skills weren't crisp, you still left there with a feeling that they were to serve you. Unfortunately today you don't get that with the big box stores but if I'm going to pay a little more from a ma and pa place, the customer service makes up for that. I don't get that feeling here! Last year when I visited, I told myself that I would never do business again with them after a rude experience. This year, I was right in the middle of a plumbing job and needed a tool so I checked my Dad's house first because his garage is like a hardware store. I couldn't find what I needed so since I was right in the middle of a job and needed that tool, I went against everything I believe and bought the tool from them. I had a small problem with the $3.49 item and had my wife take it back to get a replacement. She came home and informed me they gave her a hard time about replacing it even though I just bought it about 20 minutes before and had my receipt.
