Service is super-friendly (and sometimes the children pop out for a chat too - it's been great to watch them grow up over the years). Whilst Wong's serve a limited Chinese menu we have never tried it, sticking, instead, to a standard order of: 2xHaddock, 1 Large Chips, Curry sauce and mushy peas. This is more than enough for a hungry couple. It's best to telephone your order ahead to make sure you don't have to queue for too long (they get busy towards the weekend). Credit cards are accepted for orders over £9. The fish is succulent (and rarely dry like so many places) and the chips have a great flavour and aren't too greasy. Portions are extremely generous and our simple meal is good value at £13. Portions Weights: Each fish weighs in at c. 325g Large portion of chips is a mighty 615g Peas 250g Curry sauce 110g

A traditional fish fry shack. The girls who run the register and take your orders are young and cute. Friendly and courteous. The experienced gentleman behind the stove expertly deep frying an assortment of goodies to nice golden brown. He means business. I normally don't get chips with my fish, don't care too much for potatoes. I got the haddock 2 pieces of crunchy fresh fried fish, I added a generous sprinkle of vinegar to cut down the oil. It was good, really good. It tasted clean, fresh and even the oil used had a crisp taste. You don't even need catsup for this lot. I ended up trying a couple of my friend's chips, the next thing she had to do was fend me off of her hearty serving. I went back the next day and ordered the fish roe. I ordered 2 pieces, beware for they are hockey puck sized! A very generous size. Yum! So did I go back the day after that...? Yes. This time I had cod fish and chips. The girls handed me my paper wrapped meal and a handful of tissue, knowing I was a full fledged deep fried addict at this point. They have a good selections of deep fried goodies on the board. Order and take away. No seats, but I enjoyed my alley dining experience.

Last time he popped over to the Thorley branch, he was told that they're only accepting web orders, which was fair enough, but he noticed then the way a certain woman was telling people and thought it impolite - after all, how are they supposed to know until they get there? And the website wasn't working. He went elsewhere since he couldn't place an order, but wasn't bothered by that. Tonight he placed our order and turned up a little early. No problem, they'll get it read and give him a call when it was done. They never called. When he went in to ask 20 minutes later, they told him his order was on the side. He asked what happened to them calling him to let him know? As he left, he left to "Oooh, moody!" from the woman he'd previously noted had an attitude. We've never had a problem with Fish N Chicken before, but come on, at least if you want to call someone moody because you didn't call someone as you said you would, at least have the decency to wait until he's left. It's a trying time for all of us, there's no excuse for the rudeness.
