Seat yourself, make your selections from the menu on the wall, take your order to the cashier, and a wait person will bring the food to your table. You can get fresh crab every day, as well as other tasty dishes. I especially enjoyed the Cuban sandwich. Add fries, cole slaw, hush puppies, fried okra and a glass of ice tea...and maybe even some amazing peach pie for desert ....and you're all set for a nice long nap afterwards. Friendly staff, friendly locals and great food in a type of atmosphere that's sadly fading fast. We shared one of the larger tables with a local family and had very nice lunchtime chat. I have no doubt that we'll be back next time we're in the area.

Weary from 12 hours on the road, we actually arrived at closing time! We didn't know as the hours…read morewere not posted on the door and there was quite a crowd in there. However, 2 minutes after we chose a seat I saw the open sign go off. The staff never once mentioned that they were closed or rushed us or any of the other patrons in any way. This review has to put focus on that aspect to some degree because you just don't see that very often. There was some serious southern hospitality at play here and I noticed many of the patrons were treated like family. Our primary server had a great sense of humor and was very engaged. The other young woman who checked on us was very polite and friendly. The gentleman who rang us out at the register was very kind. Our drinks remained full, our food came out quickly and we were given suggestions. In the 35 minutes we were there, everything I saw in atmosphere and service was an A+! They also had the best sweet tea, I could drink that stuff by the gallon, so good! As far as food goes, I would describe this as country cooking and comfort food and say it was average or a little higher. Average doesn't have to mean something bad, just that it meets the expectation of a type of food, but wasn't outstanding. My husband got a cheeseburger and I got the hamburger steak. We both got fries and they were awesomely crispy, but under seasoned. My husband enjoyed his burger and finished all of it. I had chosen the hamburger steak because I didn't think I had the appetite for a big ribeye. Well, this thing was huge! Overall, it was pretty flavorful, but some of it was way too salty. Some of that should have been held back for the fries. It normally comes with gravy and onions which I got on the side. I found the gravy to look really unappetizing so I didn't eat it, but I also didn't think the hamburger steak needed it. I really enjoyed my salad because their homemade ranch is outstandingly creamy and tasty, yum! Get ranch here whenever you can! Also, this was a ton of food for $9.99 so you can't argue with the price or the portions. It was a solid visit, we left nourished and rejuvenated and it was the highlight of our stay in Bonifay. If we ever come through again, I'll stop by.

My parents love Nate's as it is one of their favorite places for seafood…read more However, I am not a seafood eater but I found myself impressed with Nate's non-seafood offerings. Let's start with the most impressive. My cousin ordered a ribeye sandwich. He might as well have ordered a whole ribeye just on a piece of bread because that is what he got! That will be what I order next time at Nate's! I ordered Nate's Hot Dog as it was already mid-afternoon and we were going to eat again in a few hours. This was the most delicious hot dog I've had in a while. The chili was thick and rich! The slaw made it a tangy treat! I chose the salad bar as my side and it is what you would expect from an old school salad bar with a few veggie choices, Captain Wafers, and some salad dressings. My stepson got the burger and the burger looked fantastic and humongous! He doesn't usually brag on things unless it was really good and he could not stop talking about it. My wife wasn't happy with hers though. She said her BLT had no mayo and she did not like the corn nuggets. My sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! The decor is something to behold as it has bits and pieces of Slocomb's history on the walls as well as TVs. Another visit to Nate's will be in my future!

After waiting approximately 45 minutes for my food, I was spoken to publicly and harshly by the woman owner regarding my clothing. I was wearing standard gym attire and was fully covered. I had removed my jacket because I was warm. There was no visible dress code posted, and I was unaware that my outfit would be considered inappropriate. The interaction was embarrassing and distressing, especially as it occurred in front of other customers. The tea I received was also room temperature and we were never checked on once, which added to the overall disappointment. If this business has a dress code, it should be clearly posted so customers can make informed decisions before ordering and waiting for service. No customer should be made to feel humiliated or upset due to unclear policies or the manner in which they are addressed. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I will not be returning.0/10
