This is definitely an old school, rooming house style hotel. It has basic amenities, nothing overly fancy, but our king poolside room was clean, updated and PERFECT for our stay. And if you decide to stay here, I highly recommend booking a poolside room! One of my favorite things about this hotel is the location. There is parking, and you are SO close to the beach and all of the restaurants, shops and things happening in the area that you really don't need to move your car once you park. And if you know anything about Old Orchard Beach during the busy season, keeping your parking spot is EVERYTHING! Customer service at the hotel was AMAZING. They also have accommodations for both couples and families, so it works whether you're doing a romantic getaway or bringing the crew. Another great perk is that guests have access to the pools and amenities at the Lafayette Hotels, which gives you even more options during your stay. I honestly love it here! Now I'm curious to come back in the fall or winter and experience Old Orchard Beach completely differently. I would love to see what this area feels like outside of the summer rush. This definitely won't be my last visit. I'm already looking forward to number FIVE next year! If you don't need super luxury and you want to be close to EVERYTHING, Ocean House Hotel is a great option.

Orchard Beach is also lovely, a quick walk or drive takes you to Bayley's lobster pound, pick up a lobster they will steam it and crack it, and eat it on the porch. Walking in here you can feel the tension wash off. We will go back -- BUT…read more.. ... I worry about the place needing a little TLC. Lots of stars for being an an awesome throwback with great bones, and the common areas (the lawn) feels like a backyard BBQ with all sorts of lawn statues and a gazebo. I'm sure if we were there in the summer, we'd be grilling with our neighbors and feeling right at home. Felt like going back in time. And the price is right. And the place is clean. 95% is awesome, and the other 5%... needs to be maintained. Like, you can't have the heat not working in a bedroom when it's 2 degrees above freezing. We went to the office, the owner (?) told us she'd send the manager. The manager tried to help us out, brought a part from the heater in his cottage, but it didn't help. We left the door open to the other rooms, and were happy for the extra blankets -- we were fine. The manager also mentioned there was an issue with the heater in his cottage. Little things like a kitchen where the pot lids didn't fit the pots, no cutting board or can opener. Little things like the sofa bed futon that folds out doesn't have supports under one side, so if you're on one side, and someone is on the other, and one of you gets off, the other ones tips over onto the floor. I mean, listen, we'd go back (when it's warmer!) But it's a pity when you have something going back close to 100 years, and basic maintenance starts to lag. I hope the new owners do Pride justice.

We were literally on the beach. The house was built in the 1890s and it is beautiful! It does have updates to it since then but you don't lose a bit of the charm. We stayed in the old inn keepers room on the main floor, and it had its own bathroom. Our room had a window AC unit and it's own mini fridge as well as a ceiling fan. I do think it needs more outlets but we just used one in the bathroom. They provide you with bath towels, fresh beach towels everyday, washcloths, face towels and bath mats. Resa is the manager their and was absolutely wonderful. She cooked delicious breakfasts and is available if you need anything. One day we had avocado toast, scrambled eggs, fresh baked blueberry buckle, blueberry corn muffins, and chocolate oatmeal protein cookies. Various breads, bagels, and English muffins are available as well as butter, peanut butter, and jelly. There is always coffee, tea, and water and ice on hand. In addition to breakfast the house has a whole closet FULL of board games and activities to play if you find yourself inside for an afternoon storm. There is plenty of common areas to hang out and do a puzzle or play a game. The house also has plenty of beach items for you to use including beach chairs, umbrellas, footballs, volleyballs, sand toys, bikes, helmets, and various other things. You do need to park on the street, but there was ample parking and you don't really have to move your car that often because there is so much within walking distance. The whole house was beautifully clean, warm and welcoming.
