Our ocean view room was incredible - literally 10 steps from the beach and could hear the ocean all night. Definitely a walkable location and parking on site. On the negative side, our room had an overwhelming smell of Pine-Sol that just wouldn't go away. At times it was hard to breathe. The room was no doubt clean, but the odor from the cleaner was tough - especially with my 2 year old. Beds were hard as a rock, decor was ok, very simple. Bathroom was very tight. Parking was very tight. It was definitely a nice experience, great for a last minute stay.

This is definitely an old school, rooming house style hotel. It has basic amenities, nothing overly fancy, but our king poolside room was clean, updated and PERFECT for our stay. And if you decide to stay here, I highly recommend booking a poolside room! One of my favorite things about this hotel is the location. There is parking, and you are SO close to the beach and all of the restaurants, shops and things happening in the area that you really don't need to move your car once you park. And if you know anything about Old Orchard Beach during the busy season, keeping your parking spot is EVERYTHING! Customer service at the hotel was AMAZING. They also have accommodations for both couples and families, so it works whether you're doing a romantic getaway or bringing the crew. Another great perk is that guests have access to the pools and amenities at the Lafayette Hotels, which gives you even more options during your stay. I honestly love it here! Now I'm curious to come back in the fall or winter and experience Old Orchard Beach completely differently. I would love to see what this area feels like outside of the summer rush. This definitely won't be my last visit. I'm already looking forward to number FIVE next year! The manager responded to their negative reviews including their full names, home address and ages from their Drivers Licenses. I spoke with Amelia, who the front desk says is the hotel manager (she claims that she is a member of the management team), and she said that the review made it past google, so clearly this isn't a problem. She offered no apology and confirmed that whoever was responsible was still employed there.

Although I could not enter or exit the building independently, Dan made sure the inside was fully usable for me. They went so far as to remove the bedroom and bathroom doors entirely so my wheelchair could fit through the frames! They also sent pictures, measured doorways ahead of time, and installed a handheld shower head. Their willingness to help was truly outstanding! The cottage is rustic. I wish they would make at least one or two accessible room and add a ramp to the cottage.

Pros: pretty courtyard, beautifully decorated, amazing amenities, huge lovely shower, comfy bed, sliding barn door separating the bathroom, keyless entry, responsive owner/host via text. Cons: street parking only, which can be an issue, and the noise level from guests in adjoining rooms. Sadly I think we were next to the family room, and the party next door had unruly kids that were loud and we heard lots of running, banging and noise, which was frustrating, especially since it is in an otherwise quiet/secluded area and has a very upscale boutique feel which wouldn't seem to attract larger groups. I couldn't tell if they were next to/above us/or both. It was annoying. The neighborhood was cute and some new businesses/food/coffee restos, But I felt it was a tad overpriced at $345/nite once you included the $75 cleaning fee and tax, especially since it's pretty far from downtown. However we realized Portland is actually very VERY expensive!
