I just mentioned to the Uber driver that he made an illegal lane change in an intersection & he…read moretold me get out of my car! He kicked me out near the bottle drop in Portland, OR very unsafe area to kick someone out! Mentioned this to Uber & they have blanket statements like, I am very sorry & you will not be matched with this driver. Sorry for the inconvenience... Learned my lesson don't ride Uber X... poor customer service as the driver doesn't take their job serious. Definitely ride with Uber comfort & most of the time it is a nicer car & the individual is more respectful!

I am a disabled senior who had come out of the ER at midnight in Portland after a devastating visit…read morethat I had told him about (I have osteomyelitis in my foot so I can barely walk, and he did not offer any help at all with putting my bags in the car including making me struggle with a strange handle on the back door while he sat behind the wheel). There was a lot that this driver did that would have provided enough reasons for any employer to fire him. However, the unbelievable thing was that after I had managed to finally load myself and my bags into the back seat, he said that he would not have taken the ride if he had known how far away my destination was because he had to get back to Portland by 2 am so he could be a designated driver for his girlfriend and her friends who had been partying (drinking) all night. So, he said he would cancel the ride and put me back out in the parking lot with a noticeable shortage of drivers if he felt he could not make the round trip in the amount of time he had. When I said, "Oh, no, please, you can't, how will I get home?" (Albany is about 75 miles away from Portland). He said, "Yes I can. Don't tell me what to do. I can do anything I want to do." I figured that he could do it if he left right away, so I asked him to compute it. Since it computed to him being able to make the round trip drive within minutes of his allotted time he said he would, but boy did he make me pay for it in many ways during the ride to Albany. There is a lot more to this story, but there are two reasons I decided to write this review: 1) Uber felt I was asking for extra services when I commented on the driver's lack of compassion and said that if I needed "special treatment" I should move somewhere where the drivers get "special" training. Huh? 2) The trip cost me $104.00, and I asked Uber to refund at least part of it because the driver basically threatened me, and I was terrified that I wouldn't be able to get home! Uber's response to my sense of panic when the driver threatened to cancel and put me back out in the parking lot was that they don't give refunds for "rudeness," but they were willing to cover both issues with a $5 credit toward my next Uber ride because they were so grateful for my customer loyalty; give me a break! In closing, I have two questions for Uber. First, "If the driver had not been informed about the drive's distance, why not, and was there a way for him to find out before taking it? If not, then is Uber's policy that it is OK for the driver to cancel on the rider for any reason up to the time of arriving at the rider's location with impunity, but the rider will be penalized if he/she cancels the ride for any reason long before the driver arrives at the pickup spot. Second, "Is it OK with you for a driver to take a job conditioned on whether he still wants it after he's arrived to pick up the rider (especially in a situation such as mine), and shouldn't riders be aware of that policy so they know they are taking a risk by "confirming" a ride that the driver may cancel for any reason, even after arriving at the rider's location? Dear Reader, Thank you for your attention. I hope I have provided information that will help you avert situations where you risk financial loss and being exposed to unexpected danger because Uber's policies dictate that their drivers will not be held accountable for the kind of unacceptable, costly, and potentially dangerous behavior to which I was subjected. Stay safe!
