You are about to experience the awe and mystery of, The Outer Limits! You've been seeking an experience. An adventure. Well, now you've found it. The Outer Limits is out there alright. But not so much for the hoard of Pokémon Trainers, who flock to this establishment to engage in the fantasy world of playing and trading. For them this is serious fun. For I, as an observer, it's a one of a kind experience to delve into the mysterious world, and minds, of my new friends. On my visit the store was packed to the Limits. From the Outer portion, to the inner sanctum. That's where games were afoot. The participants paid no attention to this pathogen who looked over shoulders in an attempt to make sense of what the eyes were taking in. Make sense? I couldn't. But it was fun watching the ones who knew what they were doing, enjoying themselves. Each digging into their prerequisite backpacks, ferreting through their game pieces in an attempt to gain advantage. At least that's what I think they were doing. I have no idea as to the process, or for that matter, the outcome. But what I do know, all were having a blast, albeit in a controlled intellectual way. I had a blast too. I admire this sect of game followers, these who dwell on the fringes. They're in their own world. One fraught with challenges of the game, as the real world meanders. In the game, they're in control. We on the outside looking in, can only watch in awe, and wonder. If it's collectable that you're interested in, it's here. Comics, cards, and weird doll things (you know what they are, me, I just shrug the shoulders). Enter the Outer Limits, where Reality ends and fantasy begins. Quick Tip: The card prices seem to be fair. But I have no perspective from which to judge. I being a sports card collector and not fantasy. I can only fantasize that one day I'll come across a rare Mickey Mantle for cheap. I wouldn't know a Pikachu Illustrator from a Alpha Black Lotus. Hmm...could those be the ones I used as drink coasters?

I would say that if you are completely new to collecting you might end up here on accident…read more They seem to be a little sketchy and shady on some stuff, especially with Pokemon. The service is fine, but the value you receive for the selling compared to what they expect in pricing is kind of ridiculous. I would be a little cautious on going here.

The daughter being done with her Master's program at Vanderbilt was looking for a place to…read moreoffload/sell her nursing textbooks. She found McKay's online and it seemed to be the best place to do that. Wow -- we were not prepared for the massiveness of this super, super busy place! Being our first time and not knowing how it all worked, it didn't take us long to figure out where to go and what to do. There wasn't much of a line when we started. We placed her books in a bin, then waited to be called by a greeter. Our greeter quickly explained the process, gave the daughter a claim ticket, then we waited. In the 40 minutes it took for her claim number to come up on the screen, we were able to walk through most of the sections and pick out a couple things to buy. I was quite surprised to find so many things beyond books -- DVDs, VHS, vinyl records, CDs, cassette tapes, clothing, Pokémon cards, instruments, game consoles, accessories, Legos, toys, comic books, etc. It was seriously amazing. My daughter decided to take her sale in trade which gave her about 50% more to spend. For the books they didn't buy she was given the option to take them back or donate them there. She chose to donate. The husband loves old movies, art and music -- he will absolutely enjoy McKay's. I can't wait to bring him here! The parking lot is as massive, so I don't think there's ever an issue with that.

I was so excited to get back to McKay's for the first time in years. I was completely taken aback…read moreby the prices of books here now. Many books I found were overpriced for used books. There's no pricing system based on book condition, which would be nice. You may find a book in fair condition and pay the same amount for the same book in excellent condition. Customer service was great as always.

Pretty nice card shop. It used to interest me more back in the day when it was more strictly…read more"sports card related". But now it is mostly Magic the Gathering and other gaming cards. But it doesn't really disappoint me considering Bob has never advertised his store as strictly "sports cards". It's always been "collectors den" which varies from a great selection of comic books that are greatly priced and still does have seem decent sports cards in the shop as well. I can't really blame him for switching to Magic because the store is located on a college campus and Magic is HUGE there and he probably makes a killing on it considering that there is ALWAYS people in there either buying or playing magic and he always gets the new magic cards in. He also has tournaments every week. Bobs also has a good selection supplies for cards and comics, which are also fairly priced. His staff is also nice and and friendly. Although I do wish it was more of a sports shop like it was I can't blame him for making a smart business move. His store is right in the middle of Magic haven. They also sell Pokemon cards that are newer and they are also cheaper than wal mart which was pleasing to me. If your looking for comics and gaming cards this place it perfect for you. And if your looking for sports cards it's sad to that they are better places in town for sports cards but I would still recommend Bobs to anyone.
