unfortunately Outer Cape Health Services in Provincetown treats Older Citizens as disposables. It feels like if you are older you don't matter. Finding an appointment to read tests results in a timely manner is very difficult and often they don't call you to discuss the results. We, the patients, have to go to "My Chart" to read our own results. That makes you stressed because have of the things you read you cant fully understand and you will research what it means and make it harder to comprehend and is very stressful. read more

So, my husband went to Outer Cape in Wellfleet last week and said " something has changed, they are so rude and unhelpful it's amazing". I took that with a grain of salt until I didn't feel well and went to them today. Yep, rude and unhelpful is accurate. I asked for an appointment today, but they said no, they don't do same day appointments. Fair enough. How about tomorrow? No, they don't do same day appointments. I noted that by definition tomorrow is a different day than today, but whatever... Closed on sat and sun - ok, fair enough. May I make an appointment on Monday? Oh no, they don't do same day appointments. Let me guess Tuesday is also a no. The person behind the desk was almost laughable in her inability to recognize or at least verbalize that Tuesday is not the "same day" as Thursday ... So we tried a different approach. "How about if you tell me the next appointment that is not considered the "same day". Sure she says - "that would be 4 months from now.... You might want to consider going somewhere else...." Michael in referrals doesn't return calls to doctors offices, or to patients seeking updated referrals. The staff at outer cape are rude, and incompetent. If you complain or correct them they will accuse you of yelling at them. Outer cape is a bad choice for healthcare. read more

I am beyond lucky and grateful to have become a patient at Outer Cape Health Services. I was already into my 30s without ever having had a regular primary care doctor I could trust and feel relaxed with. Things become more crucial as the mild depression i experienced when younger became worse and more debilitating as my 40s approached. I had only a few nurse practitioners repeatedly misdiagnose or refuse to diagnose me at all. I became more and more hopeless when in the nick of time I was told there was now a dedicated staff psychiatrist at Outer Cape Health now. Cape Cod has so few psychiatrists as it is. These few seldom take new patients, and only very limited insurance. So I met this new psychiatrist finally. I knew instantly somehow I would be in good hands with Dr Daniel Wyatt. The biggest breakthrough was when he was finally able to diagnose me Bipolar I and finally put me on the appropriate meds. Don't know what happened. the only reason I gave 2 stars is cause they will actually answer the phone. But after that you get nothing. I've been coming here (their Wellfleet location, but sometimes the one in Provincetown) nearly since day one (of my life). For the most part, they've taken really good care of me. I really like Merideth Goff - probably because she listens, and specializes in lady things. Suzanne, with the office by the waiting room is just the nicest lady you'll meet. She's helped me more than once navigate Romney Care, and I tell anyone who got a denial letter (seems to be standard practice to ensure that you really want state-subsidized health care) to go to her. She knows the right forms to provide, and how to fill them out and where to send them to, and goes above and beyond on every level. I am always well received by the front desk when checking in. My wait times have typically been short. Other names that come to mind as stellar: Dr. Prazak... I guess that's the only one right now. Which reminds me, I could use a physical. If any others come up, I'll do a revision. read more

I love Outer Cape Health Service. My PCP is there, and where else could you have a dr call you to go over blood results with you. On a Saturday at that. Open 7 days a week. Staff is always friendly and very helpful. read more

I am very pleased with the staff and doctors at the Outer Cape Health in Wellfleet. They should be commended for their great job they do. As for taking the walk in cliinic away you must be nuts!! It is hard enough to keep good doctors on the Cape try looking at the real picture. Many clients are either section this or that, or have very little insurance. The summer residents help keep it going otherwise it would be closed. The doctors and staff work hard, many have mortage payments, raising families, and this area is not a cheap place to live. Give them a break I think they do a great job. read more

I have been coming to the Outer Cape for almost 25 years and have been visiting the Wellfleet location for almost as long, first with my nieces and nephews, now with my own children. I've always had very good experiences but just had a really bad experience which I hope is isolated to one individual making a poor decision. Two weeks ago I made an appointment to have my ear checked for an infection (swimmer's ear) and I was seen right on time by Lynn, the Nurse Practitioner. Not surprisingly she diagnosed the ear infection and wrote me a prescription and I was in and out in 10 minutes. Unfortunately, the medication didn't work and Lynn called in another prescription for a stronger antibiotic. Today was the last day of the cycle and my ear still feels infected. I was driving by the Wellfleet location at 6:30 PM tonight (Friday) and knew they were open until 7. I wanted to have someone quickly look in my ear to see if it was still infected and perhaps write me another (3rd) prescription. I was excited to see only one car in the parking lot and no patients in the waiting room when I walked in at 6:34. I introduced myself to Lori Fortier (sp.) at the front desk and explained the situation and was hoping to be seen for 5 minutes by a RN, even though I didn't have an appointment. She said they didn't have any more appointment slots for the day and said I would have to make an appointment and come back another time. I asked if there was a clinician on site and Lori said there was a RN there until 7. I asked if the RN was jammed with patients and she said there were no patients in the building and the RN was doing paperwork and returning calls. I told her I had been there 10 days before for the same issue and would only require 5 to 10 minutes of the RN's time. She refused to have him come out and see me and insisted that I make an appointment. I asked if it was a walk in clinic (I have been there many times without am appointment for shell cuts with the kids) and she said unless it is an emergency, I would need to make an appointment. I left bewildered and frustrated by Lori's decision and her utter lack of willingness to help. On many other visits to this location it was clear that patients and there well being were the highest priority. Lori doesn't seem to share that belief. I wasn't asking for anyone to stay late or make another patient wait while I was seen. I simply wanted 5 minutes of the 25 minutes that the RN had until they closed at 7:00. I'm confident had the RN understood my request that he would have been glad to spend 5 minutes to peak in my ear and write a new prescription. Maybe Lori was having a bad day but it was a very poor decision that at least should have been made by the RN. Maybe Lori needs to be reminded of the first line of the OCHS website: "Nothing is more important than the health and wellbeing of our families, friends and neighbors". Clearly she doesn't feel that way. read more
