I took my 19 year old granddaughter to this restaurant because I have been going to Outback in Des Moines for about 30 years but this one was closer to where she was. She had asked me what to order as she wasn't real hungry. I suggested the Coconut Shrimp and a salad. She ordered that and the waitress pointed out on the menu a better alternative where she would get the shrimp + 2 sides for the price of the coconut shrimp + that night she would get dessert, cheesecake. I ordered the sirloin, 6 oz. + Coconut shrimp dinner. When I cut into the sirloin it was way under cooked. When she came by to check on us I told her about it and she apologized, took the plate off the table and said I will get you a whole new dinner. I had already eaten all of the shrimp and about half of the sweet potato. She brought the new plate and asked me to try the steak while she waited. It was perfect. Amanda did an amazing job. Started with the appetizer- Aussie Fries - there is just something about fries smothered in cheese and bacon with spicey ranch for dipping that you can't really beat too easily. I ordered the Kingsland Pasta Steak and Shrimp. 5 small pieces of steak overcooked. Two pieces could not be cut with a decent knife. Shrimp seasoned ok but overcooked. Pasta was awful. This is a sad experience. I get it, you're busy, but I would hope the chef would wait 2 minutes to let the steak rest before serving it. For perspective I ordered a medium steak, my sister ordered a RARE steak and her steak did not nearly have as much blood lining her plate. Located on the East side of the interstate. Tucked back and hidden away behind the Waterfront is this Outback Location. We stepped in and missed the dinner crowd. Was seated right away in a booth. You can tell right away that this is a kid friendly restaurant. Every booth and table surrounding us happen to have small children. They have lots of options in the kids menu and of course they all were pretty hyped up on ice-cream shakes they were having. We didn't have any children with us so we ordered big kid drinks and big meals. Around the table was the pork steak, a big ol burger, a steak and fish. Everyone enjoyed their meals and our waitress was very kind to boot. The location is hidden and you almost don't realize its out there. The establishment is well kept and it was very busy. They are a well known chain and I think they have kept up with demand very well. I might visit again down the road some time but do like other local places for my steak choices. read more

The 11 oz Outback sirloin steak was tough and under cooked and only warm not hot. The baked potato was the smallest I have ever seen at this restaurant. We have eaten at Outback so many times that we know the menu pretty well. We started off with the shrimp on the bar I. It comes with 8 shrimp, sour dough toast with a basil and tomato salad on top. Love it! Husband ordered the small ribeye with a back potato and house salad. Steak was cooked perfectly. Side of sautéed mushrooms that weren't the best we have had but were ok. I ordered a 6oz filet with a mushroom Marsala sauce. My favorite sauce to add on steak and the filet was so tender. Service was great and located in same parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express so we could have a couple of drinks and walk back to the hotel. read more
