STORE STATUS: NOW CLOSED…read more Finnish Treasures Gift Shop was a true treasure in the scenic Fairport Harbor. It has been part of the community for 20 years! I only found the store a few years ago.The shop recently closed its doors (on December 13, 2015). It was the saddest closure for this little area. Finnish Treasures Gift Shop used to sell souvenirs from Scandinavian countries - Finland, Norway, and Sweden. There were also some limited products from Russia. The souvenirs really captured the culture and sisu traditions - wood woven shoes and bags, dolls, chocolates, books, furs, teas, and fresh Finnish bread. All products were well priced and many felt really artisan. Seeing Moomin merchandise was such a beautiful reminder of my own childhood and learning to embrace winter. The owner Laura was always incredibly kind, welcoming, and open about sharing her culture. I loved supporting this store, and wish that it was a forever part of Fairport Harbor. The owner is now retired. I will really miss this one-of-a-kind store. Finnish Museum: While the store is now closed, you can still support this wonderful family. The husband of the owner (Veikko) of Finnish Treasures Gift Shop has a museum - Finnish Heritage Museum. You might ask why the Finnish museum in Fairport Harbor? I asked the same thing during my museum and store visits. There was a significant immigration of Finnish to Cleveland in 1885. Many have arrived at Fairport Harbor and called it home. The Finnish Museum provides a very immersive cultural experience with artifacts, art, and even an indoor mock sauna. The museum hosts various cultural events that are usually published on Facebook or their website. This museum is a must visit year round. You can still celebrate Finnish cultural legacy in Fairport Harbor.

We are headed to Ohio this weekend so hoping the shop will be open when we go there. We will visit the museum across the street also. Fairport Harbor is a neat little town and we enjoyed lunch at the Sunset Grill right on Lake Erie.

They have done a great job at preserving the beauty of this building and restoring it to it's old pharmacy days. The soda shop counter made me feel like a little kid. The guy behind the counter prepared an excellent chocolate ice cream soda treat. I loved walking through the back and seeing the old pharmacy section which still had old bottles, books, medicine and machines. What dismays me a little bit is that this shop is more of a novelty than a convenience. I suppose I would stop in again if I needed a gift or wanted an ice cream treat, but I don't see how the shop will draw regular customers. I feel like they could do well to include more convenient store items to appeal to the community. Or maybe they do so well with the tourists that it's not necessary! Either way, would hate to see this place close after they've fought so hard so preserve the nostalgia. If you're a fan of the movie 'It's a Wonderful Life', this is the closest you're going to get to visiting Old Man Gower's drugstore.

It's every woodland fairy's dream, there are so many gorgeous nature inspired accessories, home goods, purses, and toys. The store is a perfect destination for high-quality one-of-a-kind gifts where you can buy a unique item, a card, some chocolate, quirky socks, and even fabric flowers. It's one of those spots that feels like a hidden gem. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with that cozy, welcoming vibe that makes you want to stay and look around longer than you planned. I only planned to stop in for a few minutes but wandered forever. The shop is small but packed with personality. There were shelves full of quirky, thoughtful, and often hilarious gifts--everything from locally made candles and clever greeting cards to colorful mugs and Cleveland-themed merch. You can find beauty products, stickers, pins, home goods, puzzles, knit socks, like everything. It felt like every corner had something fun to discover, and I ended up grabbing a cute velvet makeup bag (great value, only $18). One of the coolest parts is that it also doubles as a shipping center in case you'll want to send something to your loved one. I chatted with the owner while checking out, and found her to be very friendly and genuine. It had that community feel--like a place people come to not just shop, but connect. Overall, Olie's is the kind of neighborhood shop I wish every community had: fun, useful, local, and full of heart. I'll definitely be back for greeting cards and gifts. Parking note: You can find street parking in the area or park in two nearby lots off Lee Road.

I finally visited this jewelry and boutique store on a Sunday in April 2023. They have limited hours and I can never visit during the week when I'm working so I'm glad that I finally came to visit. I believe I bought something small as a gift for someone when I originally visited but I can't remember as I'm writing this review over a year later. I didn't realise that Océanne opened a second store location in 2021 in the Pinecrest mall on the east side and they also now have a Westlake location (Crocker Park Mall) which opened in 2024. This first location in the Gordon Square neighbourhood of Cleveland opened in October 2017. ITEMS -- They sell various items from vegan nail polish, cute shirts and dresses, candles, mason jar cups, hats, books, sweaters, baby clothes, and of course, jewellery. Their jewellery is made right there, in-house. Customer service was wonderful when I first visited in April 2023 - the employee working answered my questions and she was very friendly. I visited recently again in December 2024 just to browse the store but I didn't buy anything. The Femme Libre (free woman) t-shirt looks cute. ABOUT THE OWNER -- "Born in southern France, Anne's journey led her to Cleveland in 2002, where she married Doc Harrill. In 2006, with her husband's support, she established Océanne, blending French elegance with the vibrancy of the American Midwest. Each meticulously crafted piece reflects Anne's commitment to craftsmanship, comfort, and functional beauty. From minimalist to whimsical designs, Océanne's jewelry is an expression of individuality, helping clientele look good, feel good, and do good. The brand gained popularity in Cleveland, leading to the opening of the Gordon Square storefront in 2017 and a second at Pinecrest in 2021." I can't wait to visit again and purchase a small piece of jewelry. **** GOAL of 365 reviews in 2025 - 13/365 total reviews in 2025 - 794 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 1 January 2025

Overall, I am glad that a couple dozen of us were able to support this local, independent business, especially since the owner herself stopped by to greet us all one by one and give us a short history lesson of the historic building/former home (formerly owned by wealthy local man, George Ford) and the business itself! The recipies are from the owner's grandmother, whose name is actually Quintilia! As part of our tea party package, we had: -Hibiscus berry tea -Cinnamon orange spice tea -Tomato tortelini soup -Petit fours -Homemade scones -4 half sandwiches and 6 bite size desserts Imo, the best dessert was a small lemon tart!
