Rees Corner Store - An old time candy counter!

Rees is really a special little place set on a corner in quaint Geneva, Ohio. When you walk in,…read moreyou'll immediately feel like you've stepped back in time 60+ years. They have done a great job at preserving the beauty of this building and restoring it to it's old pharmacy days. The soda shop counter made me feel like a little kid. The guy behind the counter prepared an excellent chocolate ice cream soda treat. I loved walking through the back and seeing the old pharmacy section which still had old bottles, books, medicine and machines. What dismays me a little bit is that this shop is more of a novelty than a convenience. I suppose I would stop in again if I needed a gift or wanted an ice cream treat, but I don't see how the shop will draw regular customers. I feel like they could do well to include more convenient store items to appeal to the community. Or maybe they do so well with the tourists that it's not necessary! Either way, would hate to see this place close after they've fought so hard so preserve the nostalgia. If you're a fan of the movie 'It's a Wonderful Life', this is the closest you're going to get to visiting Old Man Gower's drugstore.

Cute little store with a great assortment of candy. Great mix of older and newer styles. Candy…read morealong with a traditional soda fountain...it's amazing. Add in a mix of a variety store and it's a must stop on your way to GOTL. The pharmacy museum is an interesting look at what the building used to be. It's a fantastic way to pay tribute to that business.

Marketplace Mall is antique hunter's dream located in the Amish Country. The shop combines locally…read moremade goods and antique finds. There are 70 different vendors in this space. I was so impressed with the selection and spent way more time here than historically at other vintage shops. AMBIANCE/INVENTORY: Each vendor essentially has their own themed booth in this space. To be very honest, the amount of inventory is overwhelming. As you navigate through the space, you'll find everything from local jams, furniture, Viking attire, toys, decor, clothing, and seasonal merchandise (Christmas). I would especially visit this space if you're looking to entertain and need plates, tea cups, and so on. Also, if you're looking for a fancy brooch or necklace for your next social event, look no further. I visited for just browsing. I walked out with gorgeous Matryoshka (Russian Doll), a hand-painted Russian egg with a church on it, and crystal-ish egg holder. I paid very reasonable price for these items considering that souvenirs from Russia are scarce right now. This space really offers very unique finds. VALUE: The prices vary. Each seller sets their own prices so they are all over the board. I would say that you can find items within any budget. Most items are well priced for antiques. SERVICE: The vendors work at the shop to help out. Several people approached me to offer help, share stories about the space, and socialize. I found this to be a very friendly environment. I look forward to returning here. If you visit, I recommend allotting extra time for browsing the store and every corner. There are so many hidden gems. The shopkeepers told me that the inventory continuously rotates and expands, so you'll always find something new.

Love this place! Great deals. If you don't like a price they take offers too! Everytime I visit…read morethere's new items to see!
