Looking for childcare is never easy, especially with a COVID baby. My little one had never been anywhere besides home with me and her Dad, and her grandparents. When I first visited OKP, the first thing I noticed was the smell. It didn't smell like your typical daycare. After visiting many sites, I found that there was always a lingering "pee-pee" or moldy smell. OKP smelled fresh and clean throughout the entire tour! I'm a typical Caribbean woman, so I loveeee cleaning with bleach and water. I smell this in the evening when picking up, but its not overdone so I know they are being clean but also safe. On her first day, my daughter cried. Mrs. Veronica consoled her and walked us back to the classroom to make sure she was settled. I was a little sad that I didn't get to stay for a period of time with her but they explained that this process would make it easier in the long run. My daughter cried on and off for another week or so, but now she's a pro. She goes into the classroom and hangs up her stuff on her own, and sometimes she doesn't want to leave in the afternoon. She has to hug everyone before she goes which is something I love. My friends tell me that some schools don't do hugs, but its nice that the staff treat the kids so warmly. The admin is really great and on top of things. I get a few messages a day on an app they use which keeps me and my husband in the loop. I can always call and speak with Ms. Lorraine or Ms. desiree if I have a question. As for the academics, my daughter is doing great! I would love more worksheets but the admin mentioned that they have to stick with age-appropriate work while in school. They gave me some great tips on how I can supplement at home, so that's what I've been doing. Overall, OKP has been a god-send. I am very happy we found them and would use them again in a heartbeat! read more

My daughter started Our Kids Place Hewlett in September when she was about to turn 2 and that was the best decision ever. The reason why I picked the school is mainly because my cousin's kids who attended Our Kids Place were so advanced for their ages. They knew how to write and spell their names at the age of three, along with so many things that they were capable of doing compare to other kids their ages ( fine motor skills, talking, reading, being involved in nature activities, be able to figure things out, teach them responsibility and mostly be independent). I wanted a school that would emphasize on all these things especially at an early age. In the beginning my daughter was reluctant but after a couple of weeks she couldn't wait to get out of the car and ran without saying bye. In the afternoon when I pick her up she's crying because she doesn't to leave. it tells me how much she loves her environment and as a parent you know . My daughter is in the Toddler class and the progress that she has made in a few months is surreal. Miss Ayra and Miss Erica are absolutely wonderful teachers. The staff, the teachers, the administrators ( Miss Lorraine, Miss Desirée, Miss Veronica) are very involved, caring and passionate about the kids early education. They also encourage parents to be as equally involve. An Early education that comes with a strong foundation is not only important for a child development but also prepares the child for the years to come. I started my daughter when she was 2 years old at OKP hewlett during the Covid pandemic since both my husband and I worked. The staff is amazing and followed all CDC protocols and stressed on hand hygiene. My 2 year old daughter taught us the hand washing song! And helped her keep her mask on during the day. She is now 4 years old, and enjoys OKP special programs like soccer, ballet, and piano. They always have special events like thanksgiving dinner, Santa visit, breast cancer awareness, Christmas operation, Easter bunny, themed Encanto camp, and so much more All the administration staff and teachers know each individual child by their name. You can tell they truly love what they do, and love each child like their own. This makes a huge difference in daycare/school settings since you know the staff will go above and beyond to make sure your child is happy. The teachers utilize class dojo app where you can communicate with the teachers personally and see pictures of what your child is doing in school. The school don't only teach the regular preschool curriculum but important values such as importance of family, good manners, kindness, respect, self regulation, and much more. Our Kids Place Hewlett shows TLC and a comprehensive level of child care from the entrance to the caliber of staff especially the highly qualified loving teachers. OKP pays attention to all details from the secure entrance and procedures to announce visitors/parents to the classroom staff. The teachers are professional, warm and friendly. In provided daily updates on my daughters day, success and challenges, and provided supportive feedback. The students are provided stimulating age appropriate activities that keep them engaged and excited about learning. My 2.9 year old looks forward to her daily "Homework" color assignment. She looks forward to school everyday and is wearing big girl underwear daily all thanks to OKP. The administration does a fabulous job of organizing activities for parents and teachers profesional development. OKP Hewlett is well diverse and has to be the best preschool and summer camp in Hewlett. The kids are learning and having so much fun everyday. Lots of theme days, including costume day, jersey day, twin day, prom night, and so much more. All the staff are all so friendly and welcoming. Once you are a OKP parent, you will forever be apart of the OKP family. The best feeling in the world is knowing that your child is safe and loved once you dropped them off to school. The small class sizes allows for the teachers to really work closely with your child and support them in their areas of weakness. Dance, soccer, cello and piano are a few activities that children are able to enjoyed during school hours. The preschool and pre-k curriculum is well paced and your child will be fully prepared for kindergarten and beyond. OKP is as good as it gets! My daughter transferred from a family daycare to the preschool class at 2.5 years old. She's loved school everyday since joining OKP. The teachers and staff are some of the nicest people you'll ever interact with. The curriculum is excellent. There are several options for extra curricular activities during school: soccer, ballet, piano, karate making it so much easier for the parents and enjoyable for the children. The facility is also very spacious and always very clean and organized. There are several huge parking lots on the premises so pickups and drop offs are a breeze! OKP is a well-oiled machine! I would recommend OKP to anyone looking to lay a solid educational foundation for their child. I know my daughter will be set up for success when she transitions to "big girl school". My son started attending OKP in January 2018 and I have nothing but great things to say about their program. The staff is professional,friendly and very supportive to the family of the children they serve. OKP takes safety very serious, their main entrance is always locked and all the other doors too. While they have been very flexible with helping me coordinate my son's therapy (he receives early intervention and his therapist often see him at the program) they made sure that they were cleared first. I recommend OKP to everyone looking for a safe, loving , fun environment for their little one and peace of mind as a parent! Being first time parents is hard... We were certainly nervous going into the whole daycare situation, our 2 year old daughter suffered extreme separation anxiety and leaving her everyday to work full time wasn't easy. The teachers are incredibly patient, dedicated and attentive, they are now like family to her. We get pictures of all the activities that they do every week. I love this school for my son. My son is currently in PreK and has attended the Rosedale location since he turned 3. The staff members are extremely friendly, warm and loving towards the children and their family. Every morning my son wakes up happy and asks if he is going to go to school. This makes me think that my son enjoys every minute he is with his teacher and classmates. He loves his school!! Our daughter loves this school. The teachers and staff have become an extended family to her. There's a real sense of community and the quality of education is top notch. They tailor the program to meet each specific child. My daughter is a strong reader so I notice she gets extra vocabulary words and will get a few extra books to read each week. There are a ton of extra curricular activities available like soccer, ballet, piano and more. Our next kid will also be going to OKP. read more

Our son started at OKP Hewlett back in 2021 and so far we've had nothing less than a wonderful experience with them. The staff/teachers are warm, caring, and wonderful. If an issue does arise, they do their best to clarify/solve immediately.
