There were actually enough people to serve food and the rest of us talked with the families. We lucked out this time because we were actually a part of a birthday party. Rainbow village helps families who are escaping domestic violence situations, have fallen on hard times, and similar situations. It's a great organization that really needs its volunteers. We served dinner and also ate with the families. For this night, I helped in the nursery with some really cute babies. While we were watching the kids, the parents were taking classes to improve their situation. Another great place to spend some time. We volunteered on a Thursday night, which is a good alternative to the Saturday morning routine.

Rainbow Village is an incredible facility. It is brand-new and does a lot to help those who are in desperate need of housing clothing and food. This is a wonderful facility and may go on for as long as it's needed I am not employed by rainbow Village but I do believe that it is a wonderful facility. And one of the ways it helps those it serves is by accepting donations, like office furniture (but check out their site for a complete list of stuff you can donate). I scheduled an appointment in February for a pick-up at the end of May. Unfortunately, we forgot about Memorial Day being a holiday; but AADD remembered as the pick-up date approached, and before the Memorial Day weekend, they promptly rescheduled the original pick-up date . I got a friendly phone reminder from AADD on the day of the pick-up before the truck arrived. The guys who stopped by were all work, no play, but friendly and accommodating. My in-kind donation receipt even came in a clear, water-proof bag to hang on my front door if necessary (a smart idea for a rainy-ish day like my pick-up date). Thanks, AADD!

One of my friends made a post a few months back about this group needing volunteers to help assist…read morewith building doggie enclosures, so I jumped at the chance to help. This Non-Profit helps dogs that are chained up, by giving them a spacious enclosure and getting them "off the chain". They are non-judgmental with the owners, only looking to better the welfare of the dogs. They have a FB volunteer page where you can sign up to assist with the builds. All their build supplies come from donations or from buying their shirts/hats. The build staff is wonderful, and you don't need to know anything about putting up fences to help jump in. Most builds take about 1-2 hours and are closer to the Athens area of town. Each build consists of making a spacious fenced-in enclosure, with one area designated for sleeping (it also has a canopy for when it rains and area for shade). A water bucket is provided, igloo home, dog cot, food and toys for the doggie. I had the opportunity to do 2 builds thus far and volunteer helping run a table at a one of their events. You get the hang of it after one build, and you meet some wonderful people in the process. Also, the dogs seem so much happier once they get into their area and can run around freely. If you're looking for a way to give back and love dogs, this is the perfect opportunity! Most builds happen 1-2 times per month, and typically 9am-12pm Saturday or Sunday AM. They know every child by name and greet each and every one individually when they arrive in the morning and when they are picked up in the evening. They are consummate professionals and consistently communicate any changes or updates with the parents. They effortlessly maintain full control of their managerial tasks while making time to check in with (and support) the teachers and teacher's assistants. Both Ms. Tammie and Ms. Lindsey go out of their way to ensure the children have fun while learning during their time at the center. They also bring in extra activities the children can engage in to nurture their creativity. I am constantly in awe of their patience as I have never seen them get flustered even with dealing with the rush of morning drop off, afternoon pick up and many children engaged in different activities. I have also witnessed them step in, when a staff member is out, to pick up the slack and make breakfast or snack for the children. They always ensure the children do not have any disruptions to their daily routines. Both Ms. Lindsey and Ms. Tammie have organized seasonal events for the children and parents that they attend outside of work hours and it is another opportunity for us (parents) to engage with them. My review is a testament to the wonderful experience I have had at Rosebud and I know it is because of their dedication to the children. When trying to find a center for my child, it was Ms. Tammie and Ms. Lindsey who solidified my decision to enroll at Rosebud! But I must say that since there has been a change of Management things are improving quickly. I am happy to have my children there and will be staying. There is a management person there now each morning and evening, the routines have been streamlined and in general the center is much more organized. I can now honestly recommend them to anyone in the Grayson area looking for a preschool for their children.

The staff is loving and kind - they genuinely care about every single child that attends. They know everyone by name and they are always there to help with anything parents may need help with in the complicated process of raising little ones. My son and my daughter have loved this place like a family - and as my son is approaching the end of pre-K at the end of this school year, we genuinely feel like it will be a loss for us as a family not having that same daily connection here. I know that they will for sure return every summer though! It's hard to find a place that is so wonderful - they focus on learning and character building - preparing for the next stage in their lives - but the kids genuinely love going as well. I can't say enough good things about this entire place - I never worry if my kids are happy and are exactly where they should be. This is a special place.

We finally reached someone and was told that they "forgot our appointment" and they then rescheduled for tonight at 5pm. Shockingly, low and behold, nobody showed up tonight . After attempting repeatedly to reach someone for over an hour, when someone finally responded, we were told they weren't able to show up due to the weather. Yeah right. Any reputable business would've reached out this morning or this afternoon/ evening and not AFTER the time of our "meeting". Good luck if you schedule this company. What a joke.

Miss T, the director, is so personable and learns everyone's name. Teachers we have experienced, Anne Marie, Cindy, Avonne and Tina, are fantastic with the kids. The school makes people feel welcome and Miss T is also very proactive in dealing with any challenges that come up. They also really take pride in creating a community at the school: fall party, parent involvement, Halloween parades, book fairs, etc. We feel very lucky to be a part of this school family.
