It's a local hangout for happy hours and it seems like the locals have been coming here forever. You won't run into Peter here, but you'll meet other delightful people -- locals and vacationers. Most of the time, it's closed, but on the rare occasion that you find this building open (usually a weekend evening during warmer weather), it's a bit of a delight. Owned and operated by the people who run Twin Shores next door, this little building has a tiny, crowded bar with one table, and several outdoor tables. The drinks here are the same as the drinks at Twin Shores. It's a perfect spot for an after dinner drink when you want to sit outside and breathe in the fresh lake air on a warm summer night.

The outside of Brittain House may not impress; next door the home has a football goal post in the back yard. The parking lot is gravel. Then you walk inside, and it's like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz opening her door to a technicolor dream in Munchkinland. The bar is decorative; the mixologist is an expert. Our group of five was seated about a half-hour after we arrived. We were okay with this; we enjoyed the relaxing environment of the bar. I ordered what might have been the BEST prime rib I've ever had, and I've had a lot of prime rib over the years. I don't toss compliments around easily, and Waupun doesn't have many dining choices. And even if they did, I think Brittain House is truly a hidden gem.

One suggestion I'd make is to make the ordering area a regular bar with stools (with an "order here" sign on either end for people not sitting at the bar) letting people socialize with the bartenders a little more easily like in most taprooms.
