I've always been drawn to this shop just seeing it off of the highway every time I drive through town. I've been here years ago but didn't remember it well, so I stopped by again recently for an update. It's certainly and unusual and unique store. There is a lot of Disney and Star Wars here. Pop toys, action figures, displays, collectibles, and so much more. Add to that a smattering of the more high-life collectibles like porcelain statues and the like. A ton of puzzles to choose from. It feels perpetually like Christmas here. Most of these things don't interest me, and that makes up the majority of the store. What I would absolutely come back for is the huge selection of loose-leaf teas. (There is also a huge selection of coffee beans, that's just not my thing personally.) I purchased some Darjeeling and some White, both of which I haven't had in a while. I prefer loose leaf teas as it's lower waste and (typically) higher quality. There was only one which I wanted that they were out of - Lapsang Souchong. The owner took note of it and said he'd have more in sometime - I'll be looking forward to going back for that. By the way, prices are indeed on the high side here across the board. I had one of the chocolates and it wasn't impressive for the price. But the tea and coffee prices seem reasonable, plus you can "adjust" the price by the amount you purchase. read more

Great gift shop! They have everything! They have amazing looking candy and treats, coffee, tea, and other edibles like hot sauce and jellies. They have all things "Nerd", Star Wars, Harry Potter, Superheros, etc. They have all kinds of toys, puzzles, coffee mugs, tea pots, wine glasses.... You can shop for Christmas year round! If you need a gift, I'm sure they have something for you! The only reason they don't get 5 stars is because of the prices. While I liked looking around, I can find most stuff cheaper elsewhere, but if you are on your way somewhere and need a gift ASAP, go to Otto's! read more

The smells when you walk in are absolutely amazing. I would 100% recommend to anybody who loves coffee or collectibles. It's by far my favorite place ever and I don't even like coffee but I'd go again just to smell the amazing smells. And the owner is very friendly. read more

This place is huge. They have a gigantic selection of teas, coffees, chocolates, candies, and various toys. I got various types of chocolates and marzipans. The chocolates were pretty good. The tiramisu almonds were nice and tasted faintly like coffee. The rose dark chocolates were like regular dark chocolates but with a floral taste, it's hard to describe but it's a good flavor. The bourbon walnuts were good. The bourbon was subtle and didn't overpower the sweetness of the walnut. The strawberry shortcake was the biggest surprise though. It didn't really taste like a strawberry shortcake, it tasted more like strawberry candy, but surprisingly, I really liked it. For a quarter-ish pound bag, it was around $4 and had a lot of chocolates in it. I think that the price is pretty reasonable. After trying the chocolates, I was hoping the marzipan was as good. Sadly, they are not. The marzipan was extremely hard, like it had been sitting out for a while and lost all of its moisture. All of the flavors tasted about the same as well. It was also horrendously expensive. I would come here again, but only buy the candy in the jars, where I got the almonds and such. The chocolates and candies in the display, where the marzipan is, are way more expensive and don't taste as good. read more

We purchased 5 candles in October, 2023. We only received 3 candles, one of which was broken. We never received the replacement candles or, after multiple calls, the promised reimbursement check. Otto's prices look good until they do not deliver. read more

I had a very negative experience ordering online. I placed an online order in November 2023 that I never received and when I called about it I was told, "It shipped." I said I was not given any tracking information and the response was, "We'll send that to you," which they never did. I called several more times and was told that it would be checked into but I never got a response. At the end of December when I called again they asked if I wanted a refund and I said yes. They sent me an email on January 1st saying they refunded me but as of January 17th there is no refund and I had to call my credit card company to address the situation. When I asked to speak to the owner, I was told, "Oh, he just stepped out." read more

Went in to buy a tea pot...asked the guy working if they had any new ones in the back..was told he would go look and we were ignored...very rude! We ended up walking out without the pot after waiting a few minutes for the guy to go get it! Service was horrible! I love Otto's. They have the best coffee and tea in flavors you wont find anywhere else. For teas they carry blacks, reds, and whites. Apricot black is great and the whites you can't go wrong with. Some very interesting flavors like Sechung Oolong (which tastes like fire..i.e. it's very smokey and unique) For coffee they carry too many flavors to list. You could try a new flavor every week, or even everyday, and it would take you months to go through the flavors. They even carry the famous/infamous Jamaican Blue Mountain. My personal favorite in Kona The also have a great selection of chocolates and goodies. Lots of Godiva and they sell individual truffles. They'll make up customized boxes just like Godiva boutiques but they carry nearly all the pieces. Love love love this. They also carry a few other brands of sugary goodies. Definitely worth checking out. They may not be cheap but they are really the only place you can get this stuff in Lubbock. The owners are super-friendly and helpful... and love Texas Tech. read more

Our first time here was a very interesting experience. After the worker briefly welcomed us, she vanished and was never to be seen again. The amount of time all of the candy had been sitting out was questionable. It was not a very well organized place. The floors looked like they had not been vacuumed for sometime. The entire store was really scary and reminded me of a haunted house. I felt like a clown was going to jump out and get me. The moment we walked in the hair on the back of my neck began to rise. They had a nice selection of sweets. From their candy case to the jelly beans and packaged chocolates, I'm sure this place is busy during the holidays and especially Valentines day. They also had board games for sale and a large selection of loose leaf tea and coffee. The only thing I didn't like about this store was the staff. They were friendly, yes, but the way they were following my kids and I around the store, and then standing in the corner in the room we were looking around in, made me feel uncomfortable. If theft is an issue here, maybe invest in some security cameras and watch me on them instead of staring at me while I try to shop! Or at least don't make it so obvious! read more

Now this place can not compete with tea houses I found in Germany, but it is the best place I fund between here an Dallas. They have good leaf tea and they will brew you some if you ask them. They have nice coffee as well, but I come here for the tea. If you want good pralines they have these too. I visited for the first time today with my sister and neither one of us had a great experience. The place is nice and all but the staff made us feel uncomfortable and watched. I could not just peruse and look around, as I wanted to, to see what all they have to offer. Instead I felt rushed to make choices since the staff kept following us, almost like they wanted to get rid of us as fast as possible. This lead to mistakes on my part and having to change what I had chosen since it was way to expensive, and instead of being understanding the staff seemed very annoyed at the mistake. Really!! I thought "the customer is always right" was the model of a business that relies on customer service...when providing services at my job I certainly follow this rule. This is the best place to find loose leaf tea in the area. The tea is some of the best quality that I've found. It's much better than Teavana (and cheaper). Visited Otto's while in town a few weeks back. This is a great, unique place. They have a huge selection of coffee beans, tea, candy, sweets, and collectible items. I ended up completing a Christmas gift for my mom with the owner's assistance. She LOVES all of coffee samples I gave her. I saw another reviewer commenting on high prices, but I honestly don't agree. This is not like going to Starbucks or some chain place. Fancy little shop of secret yummies: coffees, teas, CHOCOLATES! Neat lil' chachkies, but...be warned: DO NOT GET THE COFFEE FROM THEIR INSTANT MACHINES. I've gone to Otto's since they were on 50th street. The new location is more convenient for me now. They have a huge selection of tea, coffee, and sweets. I have purchased over 30 kinds of their coffees, and I have yet to find one I didn't like. If you aren't sure on which one to buy, there are small bags that will make a single pot of coffee that you can get. The have a wall of sweet coffee and a wall of regular coffees. There are around 50 different selections of tea as well. They have 5 counters that are all for sweets, and EVERYTHING is good. The staff has always been nice to me. The wide selection of high quality chocolates, truffles and sweets as well as the charming, rustic atmosphere reminds me of a chocolate shop I went to in Vienna. The staff always seems to be very knowledgeable but you usually need to approach then with a question or to get suggestions.
