We were grateful for a place to stay because we came into Kenora late and most of the places that we could afford were full. We took the last room in this "poorer relation" from the Travelodge. In general, it was good. Old and outdated, but clean. I liked that they had a full kitchen. We didn't need the oven, but the full fridge was nice to clean out our cooler and not play Tetris with those mini fridges. Decent location as well. The beds were fine, however the room was stuffy. Mind you it was very hot outside. If we were in Kenora again, I would probably not stay here and try somewhere else, but if you are "stuck" it is a fine solution.

I felt horrible letting my baby crawl on the floor but there's not much I could do. Tried to keep her on the bed as much as possible. The corner of the room had a large red stain - hopefully nothing died there. The bed linens were clean but the beds were springy and worn. The bathroom vanity looked new-ish and clean as did the tub/shower. Stairs - no elevator at the back where you park. Not sure if there is an elevator at the front. Cheap pet fee of 15$ and convenient location are the upsides.

In my opinion, this is likely one of the better hotels in the area, and it is a landmark as well at the waterfront, so I figured it may have a better standard than some of the others. Since I have never stayed anywhere else in Kenora, I am not sure if that is true. But I will talk about the good and the bad with my stay. The Bad ------------- There was two beds in the room, and when I sat on the first one, the springs were gone. I sunk like a stone, and the springs made a very loud protest. I crossed my fingers and thankfully when I sat on the second bed, it was perfectly fine. The shower had very little temperature control. When I had the shower's hot water tank cranked on high, it only came out warm. It wasnt cold and my showers were confortable, but I couldnt add more heat. Room service did not show up every day. Matter of fact, then showed up once. By showed up, they asked me in the hall on my way out for DINNER if I required service. I said yes. The other days -- no service at all. The Good -------------- The staff were very courteous. I ran into nothing but nice people. The pool is gorgeous. Its on the top floor of the hotel with a stunning view of the lake. The restaurant was very good (but pricey for Kenora). Regardless I ate there once, sometimes twice a day, because the food was consistently good, and the view of the lake was outstanding. The rate was fair. I paid $104 a night, which i thought was an awesome rate for the location.

I'm a bit torn up on how many stars to give this place. There are 3 hotels in Lac du Bonnet, and…read moreI've been told repeatedly that the Glenn Howard is the best of the 3. Yes it's decent.. in a very mediocre way. I'd give this place 2.5 stars if compared to a similar motel in an urban area, but that wouldn't be a fair comparison. Parking is plentiful. As in I didn't see any other cars at all in the lot. (where is Lac du Bonnet again?) The inside is really dated (1980s). The lobby reminded me of someone's living room. The place is run by a Korean family. Somewhat friendly but there's a little bit of a language barrier. The rooms do feel a bit on the ghetto side. There are drill holes in the wall, there's no bathroom fan (there's a switch in the bathroom that doesn't seem to do anything), and the carpets are a bit grungy. However, the bathroom is clean. There was also a microwave in my room. The best part of the hotel? The pool and hot tub. We had the whole place to ourselves. Great place to chat and drink beer (though glass containers aren't allowed in the area, shhhh..) However.. the hot tub water has an oil sheen. Yes, a visible slick. I had to try REALLY hard not to think about it. Do NOT drink the water by accident. The pool water looked okay though. Lastly, the hotel restaurant (Laura's) serves pretty decent diner/comfort food. I've had the breakfast a couple of times, and the prices are reasonable. This place is no Hilton, it does do the job.. somewhat.

I wish there was less than one star. If I didn't have to be up in 6 hours for work, I would have…read moremoved to a new hotel. The first room had a horrible mould smell, and green fur growing on the shelf in the fridge. I set my things down, and went to hot tub (the reason I picked this hotel in Lac du Bonnet). It was cooler than I would set my own tub, and the jets so weak that it didn't even circulate the water. I stayed only 5 minutes, when I can normally soak forever. Going back to front desk, the door to get out the front closed at 9:30pm. So I went back to room, and called the front desk. The lady came to check it out, and looked at the water leak and mould in room, so she tried to communicate, but after several attempts, she left. In 5 minutes the man that checked me in came with a new key to move me to a noisy room right next to manager suite with their young boys. At least there was no foul odour, so I settled in. They say there is WiFi, but no password is provided. The sink leaks, the tub doesn't plug. The carpets need stretching, bed sheets are clean but very wrinkled. I think this is the first room I've been in with no coffee pots..... The beds are hard. I came by myself, just to sleep before an early morning shift. Very plain linens, mid 90's decor.. I am by myself this time, but work per diem nursing all over middle province. Definitely won't waste my money again. The only good thing was front desk staff were pleasant despite languages, the pool area was great, even if water was too cold. Room was warm which helped with taking off bitter chill.

Staff…read moreare exceptionally responsive to your needs and concerns. - During the summer, from 2 pm till 9 pm, you can enjoy free slushies in the lobby. My rating is 4.5 stars. I'll round up. Hotel prices are ridiculous in Winnipeg. Even as a long-time Marriott Bonvoy member, I couldn't get a break. It has been the case for a good couple of years at least. I did something different. I stayed in Steinbach. I had never been. It was the best decision that I made staying at this Days Inn. I didn't mind a drive into Winnipeg. I stayed here for nine nights. I started off as a new Blue Wyndham rewards member. I left being Gold. It only takes five nights with a Wyndham hotel to make this jump. I can now do a late checkout (it would have cost me $20 as a Blue member) along with other perks. I never had a problem finding a parking spot. There are many. The lot is shared with Chuck's Roadhouse across from it. You can certainly smell the farmland, depending on which way the wind blows. If you have an electric vehicle, there is a single charging station for you. I only saw one electric car use it during my entire stay. Checking in was smooth. It was likely because a lot of the heavy lifting was done beforehand. Pre-checking consists of taking a photo of your driver's licence and entering your credit card information on a secure Wyndham site. You don't need to do the photo check at the hotel. You do need to swipe your credit card, though. I had the nicest man at the front desk. He was patient with my being distracted by a slushie machine at the counter. Free slushies from 2 pm till 11 pm every day?! Yes, please! He let me know that slushies run during the summertime. I already knew that I loved this place. I had a slushie every night. It was weird that my credit card wouldn't work with their machine. I used another one that worked fine. I got my room cards. I ended up on the third floor, which is the top floor. I got a welcome text from the front desk. It was nice. I used the texting service twice during my stay. My first question was whether it had a laundry room. It did! It's on the first floor, roughly three floors from my room. When I walked into my room, I was welcomed by a rubber duck on my nightstand. So cute! One morning, at 8 am, the TV in my room decided to power itself on. So weird. Was it possessed?! I got a network error. The wifi connection was fine. I texted the front desk for assistance. I was heading out anyway and a male staffer chatted with me about the issue downstairs and had also texted me. I also had a concern about the shower gel and conditioner running out in the shower. Housecleaning seemed to have forgotten to refill them for a while. This man took care of that concern, too. He was amazing! Housecleaning cleaned the bathroom and change my bedding every three days. I appreciated it. I'm not a slob and don't need that sort of cleaning every day. I just wished that this group looked at the shower gel. I clearly didn't go through all of it and the conditioner. It hadn't been topped up for a good month, I'd reckon. They were great changing my towels daily. I appreciated that, although I could have gone every few days with a change there, too. I woke up at 8 or 9 am, and stayed in my room watching TV or uploading photos to Yelp till 11 am or noon. Housekeeping still came once I was out of my room. One morning, the elevator wasn't working. I took the stairs down. It was all carpeted, which made me think how crazy cleaning it would be in the winter. It was fluffy when I walked down. My room was comfortable. It had two queen beds. One was left alone. I slept in the other. The air conditioning was extremely effective during the heatwave. No complains. My room had a fridge and a microwave. I liked having cold drinks and heating up ramen when I needed a snack. The bathroom was clean. The shower had good water pressure. It was spacious. No issues with anything other than the lack of shower gel. I did like that it had Dove products. There was free breakfast downstairs from 6 am till 10 am every day. It had hot foods, such as scrambled eggs and ham. I liked that there was fresh fruit. You could make your own waffles. There was also bread, muffins, bagels, cereal, yogurt, and more. It was decent. Recycling is interesting. You can only recycle beverage containers here. This hotel was nicely maintained and pretty quiet, except for kids who will also enjoy running down long hallways. I don't get it. I never did that as a kid. Checkout was equally as smooth. You did all that online. You could also tip specific groups, such as the front desk or housekeeping. I ended up splitting my tip between the two. I am going through slushie withdrawal symptoms and am contemplating getting my own slushie machine. I had a great stay at this hotel and getting to know Steinbach. I had the best vacation thanks to being rested and happy here. (241)

I spent last night at the Days Inn in Steinbach…read more It was nothing fancy but it was comfy ($110/night). I had two queen beds and I slept well. There was a minifridge, microwave oven and a Keurig coffee maker (along with two coffee K-cups and a tea K-up) in the room. WIFI was free ... it wasn't overly quick, though, at times. Parking was free and self-park in the parking lot. A continental breakfast (bagels, boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, etc.) was included. From 5pm to 8pm last night, they served free soup. There was no restaurant in the hotel, though there is a Pizza Hut about a block away. There are other restaurants within driving distance. There is a mall a couple blocks away as is the Automobile City Monument.
