At this clinic if you're mat ch ing certain criteria then a walk in patient will be pushed later in the queue to take those other patients into priority. I understand there's a need but with only a few people originally a head of me it shouldn't have taken that long especially as a some of those folks were there for other reasons.

Yes, we wait-we wait everywhere- yes, some staff can be rude but rudeness does not equate bad care-(one forgets that many patients are rude, abusive and that is why we have signs that "such behaviour will not be tolerated"). Once seen , I was appropriately assessed, sent for an additional test, seen again and prescribed a treatment that was discussed with me, . At the end of the day, what else can we ask for, except to bring a broken antiquated system into the 21th century! Politics, promises, and more of the same. Working in this industry is difficult and the rate of burnout is high. Many people go to ED's, urgent care clinics when there are no urgency, because it's free. Consider adding a fee for service when the issue is not emergent, and please, do not ask physicians to justify why they did charge a fee by having to fill countless forms (another way of adding more red tape). I just wished somebody would get on with fixing what used to be a good health care system to the current one we have: an embarrassment!

But, there was one PCA on at night who when the call bell was pushed, she would come in and look at us. She would not ask what was needed, just look at us. Then, when we would say that my partner needed assistance for the toilet, the PCA would roll her eyes, not say a word and leave the room. She would not say if she was coming back, or what she was doing. She would then come back with wipes and gloves, etc. and then just grunt instructions, or assume we knew what to do. It was very frustrating and dehumanizing. My partner was treated as though she was a problem for asking for help. I would go looking for help in the evening if I was there late, and the PCA would be playing on her phone sitting in the hall. Almost every other PCA was so good and treated my partner with respect. Why do people feel it is okay to make patients feel they are a bother?

Femur surgery by foot & ankle surgeon. Bad outcome…read more After three days waiting in Ottawa Civic room713 my distal femur fracture internal fixation surgery was done by Drs. Lalonde and Muellenkamp. Both are foot and ankle speciaists. NOT knee surgeons. It did not go well. My result is a large hard lump on the outside of my right knee. I am told this is a misplaced/displaced screw from the surgery. An entirely depressing outcome. His solution? Open the site again and put the hardware back where it should be. Why was this not done initially? No answer. I would never, ever recommend Dr. Lalonde for any procedure. This is the worst of Canadian 'health' care. I am off to Toronto at my expense to have this mess fixed correctly. A similar situation happened twelve years ago also at the Civic when Dr. Philippe Phan, spinal surgeon, operated on my left wrist and did not inform me pins had bern inserted. I could not flex my wrist so I travelled from Ottawa to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto to have the wrist re-opened and the pins removed. Wrist then worked fine. There are problems in orthopedics in Ottawa.

Not sure how someone gets hired to be the face of a place when they aren't nice or polite or well tempered. Latest upset is I left a form last November with them when I brought my mom for an appointment. They never called to say it was filled out. They did say I could just get it when I next came in seeing I don't live close by. Came on today and they can't find it. Worse even is that there was not even a note on my account about the form being handed in in the first place. I was questioned if I even left it with them. Rediculous. If I didn't love my family doctor I'd switch already. Luckily you can use now a kiosk to sign yourself in with so you don't need to speak with them as long as it's straight forward. Regardless, if I could give this place no stars at all I would. Also I'd like to add I wasn't even offered an apology for them losing the form. They told me just to have my doctor print it out during my appointment... Shouldn't this be something they can help with? Would have taken maybe five minutes tops but apparently they rather I waste the doctor's time. *update one of the assistants (who was so nice and understood why I was very frustrated) found my form when I told her what happend. She went to double check and found it. Like I said earlier the staff are great just reception is awful on a regular basis no matter who they hire over time.

The lady at the reception desk said the usual wait is about an hour or two I believe, but it was quiet that evening.Getting the xrays done took a whole 5 mins and that was it! The staff were very kind and polite. The centre was also really clean which I like. Overall, very satisfied and I will keep this place in mind next time I need xrays.

At 12:05 PM got called in to "check my "vitals" which included height and blood pressure but not temperature or weight. Was sent back out to the waiting area at 12:10 PM. And there I sat until 1:10 PM - 70 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. Patients showed up and left and when I checked about the delay, I was told the number of people still "in front" of me. Not helpful. Finally got invited into the inner sanctum. In the examining room a "physician assistant (PA)" took my history (already in their system; no changes) and conducted the entire physical examination even completed the Lab Requisition. Screaming child in the next room throughout. No Dr. Sharma in sight. She appeared ten minutes after the exam, signed the Requisition and asked if I had any health concerns. Certainly not here! I left never to return. I will visit my dog's veterinarian before I go back there. Santé Alliance Health is a commercial business masquerading as a medical clinic. They have a multi-page handout listing extra charges. A missed physical is $80. A prescription renewal is $20 by phone or book an in-person appointment (for which they bill OHIP the consult fee). There is a connected pharmacy to which they can refer you for "convenience". They overbook appointments with no respect for patients' time. Avoid. The ER is better.

Yesterday, though, i had an especially positive experience. I was there for a fairly significant procedure, but before starting, the dentist, Dr. Abdullah Abdul, re-examined the tooth in question and reviewed with me its condition, concluding with asking me if I wanted to carry on with the procedure. In our discussion he was very open to say that, although it is at risk, the tooth currently is in good shape and could never require the procedure. This gave me the opportunity to weigh whether I wanted to move forward and I decided not to. He was quite fine with my decision. I found it very positive that he checked with me again before proceeding with the procedure, even though it meant a loss of income for him and the practice and, likely, a gap in his billing time.

In those 6 years I saw many different practitioners but none were able to explain to me exactly what was going on in my brain and come up with an effective treatment plan. I was frustrated and felt entirely defeated as no one had answers for me and I'd been at a plateau in my recovery for about 3 years. Dr Redfern was able to explain to me exactly what was happening in my brain, within our first appointment, and explained clearly how treatment would unfold and what results I could expect. I saw Dr Redfern for treatment twice a day for 5 days. For the first time in 6 years I now feel that I am finally on the path to making a full recovery. Through treatment at Ottawa Performance Care, the building blocks are now in place for my brain to start healing. I finally have hope that I will be able to step back into fully living my life. It will take a bit more time for my system to catch up to the adjustments my brain has gone through, but I have already seen noticeable improvement. I'd also like to highlight Dr. Redferns encouraging and genuine nature, this is an incredibly important skill set for a practitioner dealing with what oftentimes are symptoms that have limited ones life and caused varying degrees of trauma. He was able to be lighthearted and make jokes that had me laughing during treatment, and also listened patiently and sincerely when overwhelm or emotions came up. This really impressed me. His communication before and after treatment were also great. Post treatment, the same day, I received an email detailing some resources to look into, to continue my healing. He even included several suggestions of places to visit in Ottawa the following day as we had one spare day in the city. I am thoroughly impressed with Dr. Redferns capabilities, skills and knowledge. He truly understands how to help patients recover from brain injury, and this is an incredibly rare ability. If you or someone you know has had a concussion, the answer may not be 'keep resting' as I was told for several years, there IS actual treatment available. At some point you have to be able to stop resting and actually live your life again. It was absolutely worth traveling halfway across the country to seek treatment at Ottawa Performance Care and I would highly recommend the concussion rehabilitation program with Dr. Redfern to anyone who is suffering with symptoms following a concussion. Dr Redferns passion for helping his patients heal and live without limitations from injury is obvious. I am so grateful to have been connected to this program.

I was briefly sidetracked by a woman at COBS bread on the same block handing out samples of its apricot delight loaf. When I got to this SDM, I read the sign saying that I couldn't bring in food. Ugh! I texted my friend to let her know that I was devouring a bread sample and was outside. She let me know that she'd be out soon. It was a bit of a bummer that I couldn't meet her inside. It was hot, but bearable to be outside to sample a carb with fruit. We walked around for hours. It was a fun, memorable day. We parted ways and I decided to visit this store at long last. It was nicely air-conditioned. If you need to beat the heat, come here and shop. It's a perfect rating for me on the cool-yourself-off-on-a-summer-day scale. I liked the beauty section. I normally invade the nail polish and nail care aisle first. I liked the variety of polish brands and colours. It was cheerful and inviting. It had a nice selection of dairy-free beverages. I was pleased seeing Silk cartons of soy, oat, and almond beverages. My local SDM doesn't have that variety at all. I could tell from this section of the store that this SDM was different and so special. I had a tough time tearing myself out of the snacks and candy sections. I didn't need any, but it was tempting seeing Smart Sweets and lots of chips. It felt like heaven and terribly deadly on vacation. I ended up in the cold beverages section. There was a sale on pop. I could get two bottles for $4. My thirst was still there from sodium fest 2023. We had visited a Thai eatery for lunch and it took the rest of my day getting rid of my thirst. I got a sugar-free Fresca and a zero-sugar cherry Coke. I paid at the checkout. I got the nicest, friendliest woman who helped me out. I paid with a debit card and had my PC Optimum barcode scanned from my phone. Done! I thanked her, grabbed my items, and headed to my car, which was around the corner from this SDM. I cracked open the Fresca and drank it as I walked over to my car. It was refreshing and had the right tartness that I needed at this moment. This drink would be my third of six post-sodium lunch to try and extinguish my thirst. It was cold and perfect as I headed over to Tealive to pick up some takeout before heading back to the hotel. I had the zero-sugar cherry Coke in my hotel room. So good! I don't have cherry pop that often. This one hit the spot. I loved visiting this SDM. It's a decent one. I wish that I had one in my neighbourhood loaded with everything that I love, and may or may not need. (302)
