I have multiple health issues, and although time is limited during an appointment, I have never felt rushed. Dr Matin has followed up on specific questions through the My Health Portal, and sends prescriptions directly to my pharmacist. I am very pleased with Dr Matin as my GP!

The first GP we had was on the news for "patient ettiquette" basically talking down to people and telling them what to wear. This isn't a fashion show. People are sick and need care, they're not going to show up in a *ucking tuxedo!! Next, we were going overseas, and needed to see a GP to get our daughter checked out. The GP treated it very dismissively, and booked us an appointment on the same day we were going to leave, so we had to email them (because for some reason you can't change appointments over the phone... well the reason is that they want everything in writing to cover their butts, because their receptionists don't understand English, and can't take appointments properly). The next GP didn't even know which patient she was seeing, she called my daughter by a different name, which likely means she didn't review the file before my daughter was seen. I guess everything is in the computer, right?? They have a policy that you must be 15 minutes early for appointments, but when they are late by 45 minutes, they act indignant if you bring it up, not even so much as an apology. In fact, they start making snarky quips and digs at you. It's unbelievable! Now, my daughter has had severe stomach pains for over a week, and they made her wait an entire week, telling us to go to the children's hospital, who then told us to see our GP!! This place is literally run like the hospital in Idiocracy. If I were dying, and needed urgent care, this is the LAST place I would go, because they'd probably put me on MAID without my consent. When reading this, you might think I'm joking, or overstating things. I can assure you this isn't the case. The only reason we're still using them is because all other GPs are not taking patients in our area, and this is literally the only option. I guess maybe Canada should do better to keep doctors in Canada, instead of having a brain drain to the US, where they actually pay them a decent wage!

Walk in services are available for the convenience of students, with a 30 to 2 hour wait. I was here a few times during school and it took about an hour each time. Flu shot clinics are organized, but you can also get the flu shot anytime here. The clinic also accepts patients looking for a family doctor and has an online application for this. Students can automatically have a family doctor here, as insurance is included in their tuition. Keep in mind that you will need to go for an appointment for family history etc before you can start getting regular services. The doctors and nurses are patient and friendly and obviously used to working with students.

Referrals are fairly easy to get from her, and her nurses on staff are lovely. Getting an appointment quickly is sometimes very difficult given that she has so many clients, but it's worth the wait if you can handle it.

I have never been to the Riverside Hospital before, but it looks like I will be frequenting this hospital indefinitely. It is a quaint hospital, that offers several services and clinics on site, with specialized doctors like internal medicine, physiotherapists, ect. They have a blood lab on site as well as x-ray and ultrasound lab on site. Everyone was super helpful and friendly. All services were quick and top notch. It was an easy to navigate hospital as well. I did find it a tad dark in the hospital, but I hate bright fluorescent lighting, so it was perfect for me! There is a drop off area at the main entrance, as well as a full functioning Tim Hortons on site with tons of seating.

I cannot express how grateful we are of everyone's care, knowledge (and sharing of that knowledge), and calm demeanour during my first childbirth, one that came with many complications. Even during four hours of a fever and violent chills, and the high possibility of losing our little guy, they still managed to keep both my husband and I calm and did everything in their power to help us get through a scary, anxious, but also exciting time after our healthy baby was born. From the diabetes clinic and non-stress tests during my pregnancy to postpartum care and the breastfeeding clinic, the staff really went out of their way to make sure my baby and I were well taken care of. They made sure my husband was fully involved and taken care of as well. We weren't sure how everything would go during the pandemic, especially being first-time parents, but they didn't miss a beat. It could've easily all been incredibly overwhelming, but instead we felt safe, assured, and ready for the new adventure ahead. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
