Mmm ice cream...we did take a gander inside the store but only found some stickers we couldn't live without. The ice cream was exactly what a sunny summer day called for...reasonably priced for the size and the flavor didn't disappoint. Definitely worth a stop to get your ice cream fix.

Great place for buying merch and souvenirs. Also a great place when you forget camping essentials (like us) They will have camping essentials and is only a quick bike ride from the campground. They also have an ice cream stand on the other side of the building which is amazing!

The Ottawa Beach General Store is an Ottawa Beach landmark. Built in the late 1930's, it is a charming red, white, and blue wooden store that has been serving generations of families in the community of Holland, Michigan. The outside of the store has an ice cream shop serving 24 flavors of soft serve. Inside you can shop souvenirs, artisan made crafts, home decor, accessories, bottles of wine, coffee, donuts, and candy. They have a bit of everything to appeal to the campers and many visitors to nearby Holland State Park. If you forget your sunscreen, they have you covered. They also had a nice selection of souvenir T-shirts and mugs. I really liked the sea glass necklaces. It was sweet seeing families helping their kids pick out candy. I love the old fashioned feel of this delightful shop. This is a must stop for a gift or a snack if you are near historic Ottawa Beach.

Such a cute place for souvenirs or soft serve!

This little store is so cute and is great to stop into while you're walking around the area. We stopped here a couple times for ice cream (24 soft serve flavors!!) and it was perfect for a hot day. On the inside they have all of the beach essentials if there's something you're missing, and they even have a ton of souvenirs here. Really affordable ones at that! This rustic shop is worth stopping into to hang around for a little bit during your beach day.

24 flavors of soft serve in addition to the hand dipped!

If you're looking for a place for ice cream, this is it! Look no further! (My review is for this part of the general store only). Looking at the ice cream flavor choices, I found it to be quite the variety! 24 flavors of soft serve ice cream plus some delicious hand dipped choices as well for almost any tastebud! It was difficult to decide because everything looked so good. I love chocolate ice cream so I decided on one of their hand dipped chocolate flavors. We sat on their roomy deck that had seating if you preferred sunshine and other seating with umbrellas for shade. The staff was efficient and friendly and our ice cream was delicious with a 'two thumbs up' for the entire visit from first spoonful of ice cream to the last.

As an employee of a competitor, I do have to say that General *kills* the game in hard serve flavors! They have so many flavors from tons of different brands, plus some homemade. Even some Hudsonville flavors that I've never seen in stores. A good variety of dairy free options too, plus unique slushee flavors. I can't wait to try the lemon cheesecake ice cream and the blueberry waffle cone ice cream. Their nitro brew coffee is my favorite! And they make their own donuts every morning. $5 for a tiny donut and coffee is probably too much but I do it once a summer when we camp at the state park. So yummy!

No other flavor ice cream except the Bubblegum? You advertise as a place that sells ice cream? A mom and pops store but they need to be at least stocking that freezer with ice cream..Holland is muggy and warm in Summer.

They have a lot of unique sundae options, which made it surprisingly difficult to choose. I ended up getting the Peanut Butter Shipwreck with vanilla ice cream, and it was delicious. The ice cream-to-topping ratio was perfect, and the combination of hot fudge and cold ice cream brought everything together really well. It was also very reasonably priced for the portion size. My only critique is that I expected it to be made with hard ice cream rather than soft serve. That said, the soft serve was still very good. It does melt pretty quickly, though, so don't wait too long before digging in. There's plenty of outdoor seating, and they even have a mini golf course in the back. The whole place has a fun, laid-back atmosphere and is a great spot to hang out with family and friends. Their soft serve cones also looked incredibly good and picture-worthy, so I'll definitely be trying one of those the next time I visit.

Birthday Cake Ice Cream: Hudsonville originated in 1926 in, you guessed it, Hudsonville, MI. Today…read morethey're based in Holland, MI but the name remains the same. My favorite ice cream brands have been long established, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to try another take on birthday cake ice cream as it's one of my favorites. I don't see limited edition anywhere on the packaging, but I believe this is a new flavor to celebrate the company's 100th anniversary. Their celebratory frozen dessert utilizes a white cake batter flavored ice cream base with pound cake pieces, rainbow sprinkles, and an abundant blue frosting swirl. The cake flavor of the ice cream was spot on, but what takes things up a notch is the blue frosting. It's super sweet, bountiful, pretty thick in some areas, and it's easy on the eyes. While the vibrant frosting swirl provides most of the color, the rainbow sprinkles supply a pleasant crunch that contrasts nicely with the smooth ice cream. Besides the cake flavor, frosting swirls, and rainbow sprinkles, every top tier birthday cake ice cream needs one more ingredient, actual cake pieces. Initially I was concerned the pieces were not numerous enough, but the more of the container I ate, the more the pieces balanced out. Additionally, the pieces are fair sized hunks and not tiny bits. The chunks have a nice texture and pleasant cake flavor. Admittedly, this is only the third flavor I've tried from Hudsonville, but it takes the cake. Here's hoping it sticks around for many more birthdays to come. Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews

We have been to House of Flavors In Ludington many times and this is an extension of them. Cute decor and they have a few picnic tables to sit on outside. It's located right by a pond that has a deck you can go on. SERVICE: The two female workers that were there was fine, they were not rude but also not super friendly. FOOD: This is what we ordered.... Large MI Pothole Malt -- Taste: very good. Size: larger than others. Price: $7.99 (and they don't charge extra for the malt powder like other places!) Single scoop MI Pothole in a cup -- Taste: good, I have had other MI pothole flavor at other places that I do like better but this version is tasty. Size: average. Price: $5.50 OVERALL THOUGHTS: Paid little over $31 for our family of four. Service was fine nothing to write home about. It's not a big place so it may be a wait if they are busy. Atmosphere is cute and the outside area is very nice (beware of the geese poop and flying bugs!). WOULD I RETURN? Yes if we are in the area.
