Being relatively new, they were out of a couple things on the menu. I opted for the pulled pork sandwich and wasn't disappointed. Perfectly smoked and tender, I was served the sandwich alacarte which I appreciated I didn't have to get a side with it. It was a dry rub and then sauce bottles were available so you could add as much as you wanted. We were in manitou Colorado enjoying the beautiful mountain and decided "we are in Colorado let's try BBQ. We this place popes up. It's again not much to look at. I think the owner and his wife run the place. There is not much in the way of decor but we didn't come for the decor. We ordered the brisket sandwiches. They were great and had great flavor. The bbq sauce they have comes in a reg and spicy. Both were really flavorful. I had the baked beans and the wife had the potato salad. Mine was real good and very hot. She said the potato salad tasted ok but it was like something you would buy at Costco. If you want a great lunch that is not terribly expensive stop in and give it a try. read more

Authentic Alabama style ribs! This place uses an excellent dry rub that doesn't need munch more than a few simple ingredients, but it gets the job done. If your driving down the main drag, you might see someone waving at you. It looks fake, but it is Otis trying to get you to pull over and up the hill to try his BBQ. He has ribs, pork, brisket and only 2 sides and no sandwiches.. The Cole slaw was crunchy and cold and the brisket sample was great. The brisket plate with one side was $12, but unless you ask for lean, you might get what we got - a slab of fat. Luckily, Otis got us a lean slice and the brisket was tender and had quite a good bark. His bbq sauce though, needed some more zing. Nice picnic tables to relax and eat as well. read more

Being from the South, I know my BBQ, and having lived in the Springs for over a decade, I know the best this city has to offer. When it comes to BBQ... it's now Otis's Alabama in Manitou! We were actually on our way to another restaurant when I smelled what I knew was going to be good. We had their brisket and pork sandwiches with coleslaw and BBQ beans. This is the real deal when it comes to the BBQ and you won't find anything like it anywhere else around here, but the sides are lacking in options and just OK when it comes to taste and texture. As well, it was a real disappointment to be served plasticware for knife and fork, as well as plastic bottle water. Those are things that could be improved upon, as we don't believe in continued pollution. We must remember to bring our travel stainless again, but frankly it's been a while since we had to deal with it here in Colorado. Next... will check out the ribs. Welcome, Otis! If you find yourself anywhere near Colorado Springs, do yourself a favor and head over to Manitou Springs and track this place down! Nestled into the northern end of Manitou Ave in the old prospector's building, you will find the aroma of ribs, brisket and pulled pork wafting out the front door. If you find yourself there on a weekend, you will also have Texas Twinkies available to tickle your BBQ fancies! What is a Texas Twinkie? It's a little bit of heaven on earth. A bacon-wrapped jalapeño, stuffed with brisket, cream cheese and shredded cheese and then slowly cooked on a smoker to pull in all of that rich, smoky flavor. While I live in NJ, I have traveled extensively and always track down the local BBQ wherever I go. When visiting my office in Lone Tree, CO, I will make the trip south to Manitou Springs to hit Otis's Alabama BBQ multiple times during each trip. I have been here over a dozen times and every time the food quality is second-to-none! D to the licious!! Best I've had in Colorado. 1. Brisket- tender, juicy, flavorful. Owner asked if I wanted fat or lean, I asked for fatty, and wow was it the right choice!!! 2. We had a very negative experience at this place yesterday. My wife put a review on Google describing the problems... wobbly table, no soap or paper towels in the restroom, canned drinks from a dirty cooler, staff watching a battle scene from the movie 300 while we were fighting our 2 and 5 year old to avoid them watching it. The owner responded with impolite lies. This response embodies what is wrong with this place. Complete lack of ownership and desire to put out a quality product. No interest in their customers a no effort to take some feedback and be better. It would not take much effort to make these improvements but the lack of responsibility is what is wrong in the first place. I just stopped by this bbq place. I had the best brisket sandwich ever. The juicy brisket was so good. My girlfriend had the pulled pork sandwich. She said it was very good. There were different types of sauce and one hot I didn't try. The coleslaw was really well done. The beans were smoked and we enjoyed those. There was pecan pie too!!! None of the meat had any smoke flavor. Homemade sauce was just ok. Atmosphere was paneling and butcher block with country music. I prefer blues at a BBQ joint.
