Where to start? All of that hype about customer service and longevity. I purchased a $3500 electric wheelchair for my husband. They had to order the one we wanted. That was 2 weeks ago. I picked it up less than 24 hrs of being notified it was there. Unfortunately, my husband's health took a critical turn in the past week and he will likely now be bed bound. I contacted the store and informed them of this unexpected turn. I was aware of athe 25% re-stocking fee and was prepared to bite the bullet. Unfortunately, I was told that the 10 day window started when I paid for it despite that window being eaten up waiting for delivery. So too bad so sad- they have my money and I have a wheelchair that no one will ever use. Bet they are looking forward to their next 150 years of taking care of customers. Just don't have an extenuating circumstance. read more

This post office was recommended to me by a local public library as being a place where I could still take a tax return to have it postmarked on April 15 when I arrived about 10 minutes before they closed. They told me that anything that came in after 3 PM today was going to be postmark tomorrow. I was so disappointed. The woman at the service counter seemed almost happy to postmark my envelope 4/16 and tell me that I now was going to be subject to a penalty. Maybe their service is good otherwise but beware if you have to have something postmarked the same day. read more

The two staff members who helped me were so friendly and on the ball. At first they realized the tip I needed was out of stock so were going to order one, which would have been fine. Okay, I really like using the Post Office service they offer ~ it beats the actual post office. Just an FYI ~ the table where they used to supply supplies has now been split and one is just across (behind) where the original used to be and the other is along side the actual postal area. Supplies only ~ no flat surface to work. There are marks on the floor for you to stand and that is the only reason I found the second location, but since I was next in line, I did not have enough time nor a flat surface to stuff my return into a "priority mail " envelope. Thank goodness I had a label prepared because there is no place to actually write out the label or prepare your items for mailing. Now, I am very happy that they carry the brand of Christmas Scent that I have used for years. Buy it early or it will be gone. They also had seasonal paper hand towels ~ another difficult item to find locally. And, I discovered their candles. They had short and tall ones in a variety of colors with 2 different size bases. Just so you know, they no longer rent walkers and even though they are not expensive to purchase, it was not worth the purchase price for 3 days of use following hip replacement surgery. read more

Unfortunately had a terrible experience. I rented an ice machine to take to my Mom who had a hip replacement. When I got it, it had water in it and they gave me the pad to go with it in a bag. I paid $50 for the ice maker rental and $68 for the attachment pad. When we got to the hospital, they noted that the ice maker did not work as it had a significant leak. Unfortunately, we had to purchase an entire new ice machine in the hospital for $150. When I went to return the machine and pad to Oswalds, they would not take the pad back, even though it was returned exactly as it was given to me and never used. So I was out $68 for something that was unusuable because they gave me a defective machine plus $150 for a new machine. Terrible service with two managers who were clearly not interested in the fact that the machine never worked and what a pain it was to have to get a new one in the hospital. Though I always like to support small businesses, I will not return here. read more

Needed a rapid test for traveling, after a out of business site, run around by Walgreens my wife recommended Oswald's. One call they explained everything and scheduled me in. Then the kid testing- wow!! We all complain about Millennials but they found some Rock Stars!!!! Recently I was helped by Samantha in the medical equipment department. I would like to highly compliment her for her time, expertise, and kindness. She taught me a "sock puppet trick" for putting on a compression sock on a seriously injured leg from a car accident. Not only did she teach me, she talked me through practicing myself several times. This procedure had taken two assistants, and a Donner- a medical equipment aid, at the hospital wound clinic. That experience resulted in more swelling and bruises. Hands down the best medical supply store I've been to. I was blown away with their customer service and how they helped my mother who has extremely limited mobility find the exact lift chair she needed. They are so patient and kind and they spent a few hours to answer our questions and try different ones out. They also helped her find shoes, and suggested ski lifts to help her walker better. After recent surgery for spinal stenosis, I needed a bariatric chair to sleep in and that would also assist me in standing. One of my parishioners recommended Oswald Pharmacy to me. I could not possibly be happier with the "Golden" chair that I was able to purchase from them. After using the chair for about six months, I made the decision to purchase a second chair to replace my regular recliner in my living room. Many thanks to the sales team at the pharmacy for their caring help and concern. Summary: Snuggled by Trader Joe's and Casey's, this old time pharmacy sells many of the odds and ends neither of those may carry. This shop makes that strip mall a viable walking alternative for those that don't want to drive for a small something. There are a ton of reviews about how this place is an old-school pharmacy. And they're all true. There is something darn-near magical about a place that sits in such a small space but they have such a variety of goods. My son is all about their toy section. There's a cool little thomas the train engine setup for the little ones to play with while a grown up looks around. I've walked by and spoken with the staff in the 'post office' without even realizing what that station was about. I'm going to keep that in the back of my mind next time I need a post office. I live a mile from this strip and I always to prefer to walk when able. This shop is definitely worth a visit if you're kid was super well behaved a TJ's and earned a small toy. :) read more

They offer great customer service, the kind you'd expect from a locally owned and operated business. Their medical supply expertise is well known, and people look to Oswald's to offer solutions to their healthcare needs. They have a U.S. Post Office, as well. I always enjoy talking to Becky and Katie! They will entertain you, as they process your mailing needs. I worked with Paul and Matias who were very knowledgeable about the chairs in the store. Yes, I rented a power recliner chair from them. I needed a hospital bed and purchased one from Oswalds sight unseen. The rep, Samantha told me this bed was the best and sold me on an air mattress to go with it even though my husband is not bedridden. The air mattress failed in the first month because the welds on the bed formed sharp points that pierced right thru the mattress. If I hadn't noticed this when they came to replace the mattress it would have happened again! The tech had to file 6-7 welds and tape them to make the bed useable! We also rented a wheelchair for $300/month not knowing that after the first month they charge $100 weekly. Nowhere on the contract does it say that. This is an overused used chair that runs $1600 retail new. After two months I could have paid for half of a new one! I called them on this and they told me they refund back if you keep it for four more weeks. Nowhere does it say this. Be careful dealing with these folks. read more

This review is long overdue; I actually patronized Oswald's in October 2019, and it's now December 2019. However, the service provided by employee Matias Latippa was so outstanding that I dug through my drawers to find the business card that I had taken home so that I could finally write the review. I purchased an i-walk 2.0 walking device; you can look it up online. It is essentially a peg-leg that you attach your 90 degree bent-at the knee leg to in order to walk without bearing weight on the injured lower extremity, which sits parallel to the ground. By using this device, you can walk without using crutches. This allows you to use your hands for everyday tasks. The device itself isn't perfect, but it was an improvement over crutches for most instances. However, this review isn't about the i-walk, it's about Oswald's. I called Oswald's first to ensure that they had it in stock, and they did. I arrived and Matias Latippa assembled the device for me and helped me put it on. I walked around the store with it for a few minutes and was satisfied enough to make the $150 purchase. I also picked up a new mattress for my bedridden grandmother's home hospital bed. Matias was also very knowledgeable about the mattress selection. In all the transaction was fast and smooth. I was also impressed by the very large selection of medical devices on hand in the showroom; if caring for an elderly or infirm person, this is the store to patronize. It eliminates the guesswork of online shopping and saying "this looks like it should work", and then getting something in the mail and finding out it does not meet your expectations or needs. They had everything from beds to wheelchairs to canes and a myriad assortment of other items. Lastly, with me having a pre-surgery ruptured Achilles tendon, Matias was happy to carry the oversized boxed mattress to the car and get it inside. Their business card says "A 6th Generation Family Owned Business", and for this niche market and the exemplary service their employee provided, I forsee Oswald's lasting as many generations as they desire. read more

I love this place because of its strong resemblance to the nearly extinct local pharmacy / five-and-dime stores of my youth. No, really. With Big Man pharmacy rapidly achieving world domination, I hope this place carries on - they've been in business over 125 years. They offer the same type of merchandise you'd find at a Walgreen's, but better. In this new location, they carry a lot more filler stuff than at the old spot on Jefferson Street - I say "filler" because I assume a pharmacy business has to deal more than drugs to stay alive. So you can shop for a ton of toys, books, candy, and so forth. read more

What IS this place?! Think old time pharmacy and general store. Think kitschy gift shop in small, quaint tourist town. It's all of that and more. There are some really interesting gifts including wall décor, ornaments, serving ware, and it's all very affordable and the kinds of things I'd buy for friends or family. I had my eye on a wall hanging for $20 but later decided against it, while my mom was dangling a pair of earrings shaped like little Beagles in front of my face. Cute, but not my style. There is a post office in here as well. Lots of "retro" candy like Necco wafers. Multiple toy aisles. Fancy beauty products from Crabtree & Evelyn, Caswell Massey, and other brands like Badger Balm and Burt's Bees. I sampled some organic pomegranate lotion (tip: DON'T do that) and left smelling like a funeral home. And of course there is a huge pharmacy section. There are Naperville "souvenirs" including hand painted wine classes, tote bags, and t-shirts. Who buys this crap? Worth a look. read more

And where else do you go to find 99% isopropyl alcohol? Oswalds!! They had everything in this store! Lots of hard to find healthcare needs that you wouldn't even find at a Osco Drug or Walgreens! Oswald's Pharmacy is just as precious as Casey's foods. I feel like I've entered pleasantville when I shop here. I was just in the other day and I bought a Marine Corps garden flag. The quality of it was great compared to the usual flimsy, paper thin garden flags I've bought before at Lowe's or Michael's. And I just realized how old and boring I must sound talking about the quality of garden flags....I'm real fun at parties....Anyway, the staff were really friendly as they greeted me as soon as I walked through the door. It was kind of cluttered in there but they have a lot of good stuff for decent prices considering the area it is located in. Everything in that shopping center is pricey. If you are ever walking by, stop in and take a look. They have some really cute stuff! read more
