The duck was fabulous, as was the tuna! We enjoyed the quiet side street outdoor seating with our reservation. Tiramisu was great as well!

We tried to walk in one evening and couldn't get a table, so we made a reservation for two days later. That turned out to be the best decision of our three weeks in Italy. Quite simply, the meal here was as good as any meal we have had anywhere in the world. The menu is varied and, I dare say, offers something for everyone. My foie gras was fantastic. Somewhat of a cross between a pate and a mousse, the flavor was intense, the texture sublime, and the portion size excellent for the price. I followed the foie gras with shredded king crab with rice noodles, an absolutely perfectly poached egg (firm white with hot runny yolk), and asparagus. I thought after the foie gras that the rest of the meal would have to be "down hill." I thought wrong. This was sublime. Surely, after those two dishes, there must be something coming that wouldn't be as good. Wrong, again! I ordered the linguini in tomato cream with roe, pistachio and citrus peel. I'll just say, sheer perfection. This entire experience would have been absolutely perfect except for two, incredibly minor things: when we asked the waiter for a wine suggestion (saying we wanted an orange or a white wine) he "chose" the most expensive in each category. Not that they were really expensive, just that we have always had waiters "choose" mid-price wines or at least ask about price points. The other minor faux pas was our first course arriving before we had finished out cocktails. Otherwise, the evening was absolutely perfect in terms of food, pacing of service, and ambience. This is a tiny place with 24 seats inside, so make a reservation and be prepared to enjoy what will perhaps be the best meal ever.

We were walking around just hoping to find good food and this restaurant was amazing. The wine, the food, the atmosphere and the service was amazing. We had three Cichletti as appetizers: yellow tomato soup with grilled octopus, smoked swordfish wrapped around sweet cream and grapes, and tuna over tiny fennel. All of them exceeded out expectations. I had the pork and my wife had the calamari with potatoes and eggplant. Again we were wowed with the flavors and presentation. I had the pannecotta and my wife had the special cannoli. These were a perfect end to our meal. If we lived near here we would be regulars.

We stumbled on this osteria at the end of the alley and had a wonderful meal. Service was attentive yet relaxed. The food was fresh and well prepared. By the end of our meal we all agreed that our lucky find was a first rate restaurant.

    Excellent!

Would give 4.5 if I could. All dishes were consistently good. A bit pricy and formal with excellent service.

The Cacio e Pepe Ravioli with raw shrimps was also quite nice, although the filling was a tad on the salty side.

Upon arrival, the owner was sitting at a table drinking wine. There weren't any people dining, so we were the only ones. The servers and cooks were very attentive. We were immediately greeted and seated while our drink requests were taken. We always choose still water. Today, we decided to try a wine tasting, which included a blend of whites of reds from the region. The waiter explained in detail the type of wine, where it is made, what type of grapes it is made with, and the year it was made. All of the wines were very delicious. Italy takes great pride in their wines and rightfully so. We requested bruschetta and presciutto. We were given fresh, warm bread, which we mixed with salt, pepper, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. The bread was amazing. It had a soft, warm inside and a crunchy outside. Isn't that they way bread should be served? The bruschetta was delicious as was the presciutto. The food, wine, and service were superb. We vowed that we would return for dinner, but alas, we didn't make time to do so. This is a great restaurant!

Location is very nice, right at a pretty trendy canal, filled with lots of restaurants and bars. Right next to is an excellent gelato place. It's quite small inside with few tables, many just hang around outside - and why not, the location at the canale is a pretty spot. We did manage though to get some seats inside. Our Bulldog was very welcome here as well. The various cicchetti are presented at the counter. There are some classics of course, but also some very innovative creations. We went for the latter. There was gorgonzola with strawberry, radicchio with brie cheese, pesto topped with an anchovie and mushrooms, mashed fava beans with pulp and mashed fava with goats cheese and a cherry. All really wonderful combinations. Our favorite were the radicchio and the fava/goat cheese. Surely something to recreate back home. Staff was very friendly, we felt very welcome here. And instead of focussing on Aperol, Select and Prosecco, it's mostly about white and red wine here. And they have an excellent selection of wine. Not all cheap, but definitely worth the money. We especially loved the Pinot Nero "Terre di Giotto". A brillant cicchetti bar. Definitely a place we come back to next time in Venice.

Maybe he was having an off night. He asked what we wanted to try. He'd pour a tasting and then roll his eyes and wander off, bring his friends their charged phones from the back, and then just look at us. Such a shame, we had hoped for a better experience. We found many other places in this area that we loved and enjoyed their wine. Such a cool hip local area.
