Ok, probably about 3.5 stars. Came here for dinner this weekend; I had to laugh, I had made the reservation at 1800 about a week ahead of time, and later called to change it to 1830 ... weeeelll, lets see was the response. And, begrudgingly they changed it to 1830. At 1830 when we showed up we were the only, and by O-N-L-Y I mean the only ones (aside from the waiters) ones there. Stayed like that all the way up through 2030 when we were heading out. Now, being the only ones in a tiny restaurant has its privileges. We got great service, glass of prosecco to start, and an overly attentive waiter. I was also impressed since going to an italian restaurant for me is tough (hi, I can't eat gluten, got anything I can eat?), but the entire menu d'jour was things I could eat (with the obvious exception of the pasta course). Menu of the day was grilled raddacio with a beautiful balsamic glaze, came with a piece of toast with melted cheese, hubby stole mine so I guess it was good, then the pasta course which for everyone else was fish lasagna, but looked really good with a green sauce; then roasted sea bass which was phenomenal. I was shocked when they came out and asked who didn't have the pasta (raise hand), and I got a slightly larger piece of fish.
Dessert was a choice, unfortunately my first choice (creme caramel) wasn't available, but I had the panacotta which was really nice. Dinner was expensive but really good food. The set menu was 49 Euros per person.
I only wish that I had looked at their menu and not gone with the menu d'jour so quickly. Probably a lot of other amazing things.
I had to laugh, we were in our ball gowns (ok, I was, he was dressed up in his "national costume" as regulated by the ball invitation... a black pinstripe suit) and people started coming in wearing jeans as we were getting ready to leave. It's definitely a white table cloth place, but I suppose you can get away with what you're comfortable in.
It's a tiny dining room, eight tables total the night we went; as you enter the restaurant you have to go down a set of steep stairs into the dining room itself. I was a little put off that folks began smoking in there later as the ventilation didn't lend itself to that. Ah well, a great evening and this was a fun way to start it. read more
