24 July 2025: What a wonderful experience we had enjoying a tremendous meal with lots of delish flavor and zeal from the crew at Osteria AE Cravate. The manager of this restaurant "Adrion" really goes over and beyond welcoming customers with some wonderful tasty food selections. We didn't even look at the menu as we wanted to enjoy our last evening in Venice by letting Adrion give us his special recommendations for this evening. We started with two different appetizers for this evening; both came with an unbelievable tasty sauce...really tasty for sure. The entree was served and presented beautifully from the de-boning of the Seabass with vegetables to the serving plate. The pictures we took really gave us a treasured memory of great food and experiences with Adrion and his staff. Everyone was so friendly and attentive to our meal needs. I would strongly encourage you getting out to try this restaurant if you are ever in Venice...you will certainly be glad you did. I've visited Venice, Italy, a few times, but this was the first time I found a restaurant so enjoyable that I returned twice during a three-day trip. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful--special shoutout to Raj, who was amazing. The food was outstanding, and the prices were superb. It definitely felt like a local hangout spot, and I loved every dish I tried. Venice is a beautiful city full of history, and this restaurant offers the perfect touch of authentic, home-cooked meals to complement that experience. We stayed in Venice for two days prior to going to Rome for our cruise. Our hotel hohh Lu recommended Osteria ae Cravate and at a last minute reservation for eight. Needless to say, they did not disappoint. The food was absolutely fabulous and service just as good. Sadly, I compared all my other food ventures, while touring the Mediterranian , to Osteria ae Cravate. They won hands down in my book. I wonder if the ship to USA? They are just that good. read more

This restaurant was recommended by a vendor. We decided to give it a try. The food was ridiculously good. The truffle ravioli was to die for! We had grilled fish, bruschetta , tiger prawns, and dessert. The waiter was good, very much a salesman but the end of our night it really put a bad taste in our mouth. I noticed he would say to all the tourists tables asking for a tip which is fine, he never mentions it to the tables with locals. Our waiter was Adrian the manager he literally stood at the table after we paid the bill to see if we were going to tip. We were really uncomfortable with him standing there. We were so turned off that I left a 15% tip I would have done more but his behaviour really put a negative spin on the night! It was to bad the night ended this way! read more

AHHHMAZING FOOD! first meal in Italy and they lived up to all the hype. The antipasto burrata cheese plate was light, fresh, and so tasty. We got the gnocchi four cheese and I got their in-house spinach and cheese ravioli but honestly like nothing I've ver had! Their cream sauce had mint I think and dill?? delicious! One of my favorite meals in Italy. It was our final night in Italy and we wanted something close to our hotel. Glad we stumbled upon this place based in recommendations from Yelp. We ordered two soups, fish, spaghetti with olive oil and tomatoes, and steak. We love everything from our meal except the fish was seasoned too liberally with salt. We ordered one veggie soup and one fish soup but they gave us two veggie soup instead and gladly corrected it. Staff are nice and they had both inside and outside seating. read more

It's only fitting that our favorite hotel in the world (The Moresco) would recommend our favorite restaurant in Venice, Osteria Cravat. We've visited several times each of the times we were in town, having both lunch and dinner in this most warm and welcoming Osteria in Santa Croce. It's as if we were old friends as we walked by to confirm our reservation and Michael, the owner and Kamal offered us some cafe and water to say hello! My wife and I came by for an intimate lunch, the food was as delicious as we remembered from our last visits. We each had a lunch special, 2 courses of delicious pasta, mine brimming with clams, mussels and seafood in a delicious sauce followed by a gut busting second course of a fish fry that was out of this world. The next day, our time was extra special in that we had 6 of our children and 3 grandchildren with us for a celebration dinner. Cravat came through with a private table for us, magnificently served by Adrian, the restaurant manage along with 2 assistants. Adrian and Cravat were at the top of their game, easily accommodating all the special requests, providing all matter of extra goodies while serving DELICIOUS dinners. Adrian provided some very refreshing fruit plates washed down with lemoncello. It was a great night and we will be. Back on our next visit to Venice. read more

This place was so disappointing! Our hotel recommended it and it is such a tourist trap. I had the lasagna which was mushy and mediocre at best. My friend had a pasta with garlic, olive oil and chili which was good but hard to mess that up! The house red wine was very light without much flavor or body and a small glass was 9 euros which is outrageous in Italy! They also charged 7 euros each for what they call a cover charge. Its for bread and olive oil and I have seen that charge before in Europe but it's usually 2-3 euros, not 7 each! 14 euros for bread we didn't eat! The service was fine, nothing to write home about but got the job done. Except at the end when we asked for the check, they asked if we could pay in cash. I simply said no and paid with a card. Do not go here! It's a total tourist trap! read more

Osteria ae Cravate was quite the find on our first night in Venice. Located along a busy little street back from the canals, we dropped in here while exploring the local area not far from our hotel. Neither of us were particularly hungry & as a result, ordered a glass of wine, beef carpaccio & pasta cabonara to share. We got to this restaurant on recommendation of our hotel for lunch. The front desk call in and let them know we were coming. By the time we got there they were waiting for us and had a table, it was early lunch and there was no one there so we got a bit worry but we gave it a go. The service was amazing 'Rash' was so detailed oriented and help us explaining everything in the menu. By the time we were half way through the restaurant was packed with locals and I took that as a great indication that the place was good with good food. I was right, the food was excellent, the wine was superb and the ambiance was like you were at home surrounded by people you knew. It was a really good experience and a very good choice. We lost our way one evening and found Osteria Cravate for dinner around 8pm. Located off the beaten path on a residential side street off the canals. We must have had a dozen tourists stop and take a picture of us and other diners outside the quaint little restaurant on this particular evening. It sits beside a phenomenal local wine bar and across from another restaurant that was also quite busy. If you want a seat outside, arrive before 8pm or make a reservation. Cravate is owner run with 4 employees. The owner runs a tight ship and will be making sure you are well cared for. They have really high quality courses with a good selection. Wine list is stellar and you'll be welcomed with an aperitif and warm wait staff. read more

Eight tables, one chef owner and two helpers. You just know it's going to be good, because there's no where for anyone to hide if it isn't. You'll receive a warm reception and a very enthusiastic host. Be prepared to meet the owner half-way. HIs English is not much better than your Italian, but you'll get there if you summon up your Italian from menus at home. Gnochetta is still gnochi, etc. Spaghetti is still, well you get the picture. We found the eggplant appetizer and the very fresh salad caprese a great way to start. What followed was very fresh homemade pastas, obviously made right there. The eggy fettuccini was fantastic tossed with tomatoes and the linguini tossed with pesto so fresh it wasn't quite pesto yet was equally fresh and appealing. The gnochetta with seafood was just okay and frankly didn't offer a lot of flavor or seafood for that matter. Still, I'd go back again to have more of the pasta and seafood offerings. Make sure you stay for dessert. The tiramisu was predictably great, but the cream flavored with strawberries was equally stunning. Here's tip though. Don't just come for dessert. A couple arrived asking for dessert only just as we were leaving and they did not receive a warm reception. Either you are in for the whole meal or don't bother stopping by. read more

Excellent small local spot away from the heavy tourist areas. We were looking for someplace away from the tourist areas and close to our apartment. This is a small local place with maybe 10 tables. Communicating was part of the fun as their English was about as good as our Italian. We had a small meat appetizer (fantastic, but then this is Italy), mussels & clams with an outstanding wine sauce (we let the bread soak in it and it was pure heaven), tagliatelle with scallops (loved every bite), sea bass ravioli (with a wonderful tomato sauce) and a lasagne that while very simple was hands down the best any of us had ever had. We finished off the meal with some chocolate mousse. Not the best we've had, but still very good! The only debate was whether to go there again the next day or try someplace else! read more

I wish I could give this restaurant five stars but I cannot. There was an older gentleman working outside of the restaurant who was extremely pleasant. He was the reason we sat down to have dinner. The food and the wine was good. My husband did not care for his scallop appetizer. But I noticed as people were attempting to pay their check the staff was asking for cash instead of you using your credit card. One gentleman was told if you're going to use your credit card you need to go inside. There was no sign that it was cash only or cash preferred. Then we were told the signal was bad and we would have to wait 10 minutes. The table beside us decided to wait as we did. Then all of a sudden they had a signal. Just left a bad taste in our mouths. read more

The concierge at our hotel recommended this as where to eat if you want Veniceian Italian food in Venice. Although the gentleman owner is nice and with his broken English tries to explain items on the menu beware as food doesn't come as described. Only owner and another server handle the whole restaurant including patio, so service is VERY SLOW. Bread is stale and hard. Pasta dishes are bland and dry. They also change a cover charge (which may be the norm, at 3 Euros person). Our last visit we very much enjoyed Ristorante Ribot which was on the same street - recommend you go there instead! read more

We spent a week in Venice and ate at a different restaurant each night. This one was one of the best. It is easy to walk to from the train station, and also near several four star hotels. We stayed at the Carlton, and it was about a five minute walk, located only a couple of blocks from the Grand Canal. The service was professional and friendly, and the pasta and seafood selections were superb. Great local atmosphere. read more
