My first time here and it might be one of my new favorite bars in Chicago! First, I love the speakeasy vibe. It's located inside of a brightly lit liquor store, and it's a completely different vibe as soon as you enter into Osito's Tap. At 8:30pm on a Saturday, we were seated right away at the bar. There was a live DJ, but the music wasn't too loud which I appreciated. Sometimes with live DJs the music gets way too loud, but it was just some nice background music. The service was great, and our bartender was really friendly. We tried the For Ari, Nube Punch, and Jardinera. All the cocktails were delicious and unique. I typically don't like savory cocktails and usually cocktails with malort are intimidating, but the jardinera cocktail surprised me and I actually liked it a lot. I think the tomato flavor just worked really well with the malort. I would come back just for that cocktail, but there were so many other cocktails I wanted to try and didn't get to this time, so we'll definitely be back. read more

I was really excited to try Osito's! The space itself is lovely and moody. We tried a handful of things from the menu but would have tried more, but as they got busier, the service declined. Everything we tried was delicious--especially the salsas! Their drink menu was fun and interesting so I would definitely recommend stopping by for a few drinks. read more

Service can make or break a dining experience. In this instance Osito's failed miserably. Had reservations and I was looking forward to finally checking this place out. Started off with a couple drinks and appetizers. The drinks were mid, but the appetizers were promising so we ordered entrees. Our waitress appeared to be covering the entire restaurant solo, but did a great job checking in. Our entrees took a while, but I wasn't rushing. Just chilling and enjoying the vibe. When the food finally came, everything was cold, the tortillas were stale, the mole was overpowered by star anise, the chicken thigh was clearly cooked ahead of time, dry and room temp. Initially I was ok with taking the L, but the chicken dish was so bad we decided to send it back. After barely touching the unappetizing dish, the manager claimed she didn't have the authority to remove items from the bill. After an awkward yet non-confrontational back and forth we left 95% of the food on the table. I generously tipped the waitress (not her fault) before heading to another restaurant in the area. The manager took my info and promised the owner would follow up, but of course that never happened. They definitely need better policies in place to provide consistently great service. Mishaps happen in the kitchen. That's understandable especially for a small business. The key is managing them appropriately. Extremely disappointed. read more

Super solid bar. What the most intriguing aspect you ask? Well it's the prices. Drinks hover between $13-$18 but they're actually good drinks. Be careful when doing dealing choice drinks & asking for boozy as my bartender did just that but I won't complain. I didn't indulge in food but next time I will. We made our way to Osito's Tap to check out a Tripping Animals beer they had a few weeks ago. What a wonderful place! We ate outside on their patio, because we had our pup, but the inside looked suuuper cute and trendy. They had some cozy booths and a sexy, upscale ambience. It seemed like it would be good for date night. The outdoor patio was nice too, casual, and there are some cool murals to enjoy. They have a great beer and cocktail menu, something for everyone... and especially great for tequila and mezcal lovers. My boyfriend had the beer and I enjoyed a yummy mezcal cocktail. I think it was the La Dama. For food we had the quesaditzin, tacos, and wings. The quesaditzin was so good! We've never had anything like it. Highly recommend. The wings were OK and the tacos were pretty good. We can't wait to go back and try more of everything and wish we lived closer! read more

The drinks were so good, I was obsessed with the giant customized ice cubes in the Old Fashion. *Best part: The owner personally came and introduced himself to us. So disheartened to leave this review for a previously local favorite. But, we've noticed an unfortunate pattern of unprofessional and frankly rude behavior from one of the bartenders, Santana. Over the summer, he was rude, abrasive, and talked down on public schools to a group of public school teachers after he learned where we worked. We were disappointed to see that his generally rude disposition continued this evening when we came in looking for drinks as a staff, which started with group of 6 around 4 pm when they opened. We were waiting on other coworkers to join. He changed his story several times as to why we couldn't sit at an 8-top in the empty bar, due to the "potential reservations", despite the anticipated large size of our party. Within the same initial exchange, he changed his mind and he told us we could sit at an 8-top under the conditions that we were on a single tab. We expressed that we were waiting on a larger group, so we would wait at the bar until we had a definitive number. We eventually moved to the big top as we were promised when more members arrived. He then proceeded to tell us we had to move from the table he had initially promised, because he suddenly had a "big party coming in at 6:30". He then said that our entire party would have to leave by 6 because it was a private party??? Supposed party never showed up at 6:30 be so serious lol. Many of us have also clocked years in the service industry and unanimously agreed that this guy is not bringing good business for Ositos. If you don't want to deal with big top of people that are getting just drinks and not food, sure! I get it. I've been there. But don't tell blatant lies that fall apart in front of the people you're telling them to. Pretty cringe. Such a bummer- absolute gem of a place in La Villita otherwise! The other bartender, Diego, was so lovely and definitely helped to offset the **** vibes from this person. read more

Please, don't walk in and drop your towel) is a hidden gem off of the busy strip along 26th St. Osito sits nicely behind Moreno 's liquor store, a long time Little Village shop. Osito has a nice outdoor patio with heaters, and vinyl covers to help with the elements. The little Bear has great TO-GO DRINKS! This is awesome, as it gives you a chance to sip and walk along the 'hood to sample away from the street vendors. Got into Chi on a Thursday evening for a week long tour. Came to this spot for dinner. It's a cute lil spot. Looks like they have outdoor dining but Chicago was giving us his cold shoulder on this Thursday evening. So we went inside. Cute little spot. The lighting is hella low so don't expect a bright place. The staff was attentive and promptly greeted us and seated us (due to our reservation). We reviewed the menu and I was honestly not feeling it. There are several vegan and/or vegetarian options which are hella dope. But I wasn't feeling the menu at first. Felt like some of the items were busy or couldn't see the ingredients merging well. Instead of leaving we asked our server questions and he was awesome! After he was done we both decided on the Quesaditzin...one with shredded beef and one without. The pic is the one without. Maaaaannnn were we in for a pleasant surprise. The blend of all these flavors was perfect! You had melted cheese (which on its own is the bomb), then mushrooms, the caramelized onions were crunchy (amaze-balls!), and the pumpkin gave it a hint of sweetness. Now that spicy avocado salsa drizzled on top pulled it all together. Needless to say I cleaned my plate and so did my dinner partner! Highly recommend you check them out! P.S. Very fun speakeasy in Little Village that I was excited to try based on multiple friends' recommendations. From the creative Latin-inspired craft cocktails to the rotating house mole, the details of this place made me want to try the whole menu. I didn't get to picture all that we had but my favorite was the "to greener days" which was a green pozole inspired drink. I am personally a fan of mezcal and appreciate savory drinks done right, so I was more than satisfied with the variety of options on the drink list. Food-wise, the chicken wings and torta honestly hit the spot and paired well with the alcohol. Our server Pierre made us feel very welcome and was attentive the whole night. He introduced us to the house mezcal and reposado rosa, and even walked us through how to properly take a shot. Definitely would never expect a bar like this to be placed in the heart of Little Village right around 26th street. You walk in and it's like you're inside this above ground speakeasy with dimmed lights and elegant decor. The words chic and trendy come to mind. Honestly this is the type of joint you'd find in Wicker Park. Nevertheless, it was a nice experience to have a couple drinks here. They have craft beers on tap, specialty cocktails, along with a food menu. Brunch appears to be available on the weekend, which I'm looking forward to trying my next visit. It's kinda great to see a new modern business like this to bloom in this neighborhood. Places like Osito's might get talked down for encouraging gentrification, but at the end of the day so long as they're generating business for the neighborhood for their neighborly patrons as well as people from all over the city, I'm all for it! We spent about an hour here and never received our food. We came during brunch and it was very busy. Only one waitress and bartender. We ordered chilaquiles and 45 min after ordering our food was still not out. The waitress never checked in on us after she provided drinks. After asking 30 min into us sitting down, all she said was sorry the kitchen is a bit slow. After 15 min of that and not getting our food, we paid only for our drinks and left. I understand they are busy and brunch time is always chaotic, but 45 min and still no food is unacceptable. read more

Great speakeasy bar, I thought the place was amazing, I was a little tripped out by the fact that it looked to Ike the maps were taking me into the alley and the the entrance is a little hidden, but the drinks are so flavorful, full of traditional Mexican spices.
