She tried mightily to handle customer service, testing, sanitation, coordination with off-site staff, and more--and I do commend her for her efforts. But this is no way to run a health clinic. I was really taken aback by the fact that, once I accepted a telehealth appointment with a nurse practitioner, I was expected to discuss all of my symptoms and treatment options using the receptionist's phone--in full earshot of everyone in the waiting room (though there were only a couple people; one was a minor). I question the legality of practicing medicine in this manner, ie, who is supervising the clinic if no doctors are on site? Are nurse practitioners in Illinois licensed to provide care and prescribe without direct supervision? Furthermore, while the nurse practitioner I spoke with was as kind as can be, their medical advice wasn't helpful. For an unknown respiratory issue I described, they prescribed over-the-counter meds including a sleep aid (although they knew I already had an Rx sleep aid from my own doctor), and a common motion sickness remedy (although they knew I already had an Rx anti-nausea med from my own doctor). They also prescribed a cough suppressant that was just plain ineffective. I don't doubt their intentions, but when I was able to see my own doctor days later, he was frustrated that they didn't prescribe any antibiotics (not knowing whether my infection was viral or bacterial), and at the OTC choices I was given. Moreover, he immediately ordered a chest x-ray, which found that I had already progressed to acute pneumonia. I would return to this urgent care only if--like the day I went there--I had no other choice. And that would be silly, considering there's a reputable hospital right across the street.

I went to Dr. Donn Richards at Fast Track Urgent Care because I was struggling to breathe due to…read moresevere asthma and a respiratory illness. From the moment he walked in, he was dismissive, mocking, and rude. I told him, "This is not how you treat your patients," and he laughed and said, "I treated you way better than you deserved." I told him I would be reporting him and he said he didn't care since it was his last day. His behavior triggered a panic attack and worsened my breathing. He refused to review my chart appropriately or consider my medical history, and the nurses had to step in to help me. This was unprofessional, unsafe, and emotionally/physically harmful to a patient already in a vulnerable state. Thank god for the amazing front desk staff and nurses because they were the only ones who stepped in to make sure I was okay. I will be filing a report against this man's abusive behavior, and I encourage anyone else who has had a similar experience to do the same. My wife was up most of night with horrible headache from a sinus infection. Thought urgent care was best option, and the O'Fallon WellNow was most convenient. At 10:15am, I scheduled an appt online for earliest available 11:15am. Arrived 10:45am, was given a tablet to complete registration. I helped my wife fill everything out because her head hurt so much. Woman at check-in not sympathetic or empathetic. Finally shown a room at 12:10pm, doctor appeared 12:45pm (hour and half after scheduled appt). Doctor WAS empathetic, listened carefully, was capable and professional. So despite the disappointing upfront experience and amount of time involved, we were able to receive competent care in the end.
