Happy Tails Pet Boarding and Daycare

Happy Tails Pet Boarding and Daycare

(1 review)

I am a veterinarian in Cumberland just a few miles away from Happy Tails. I have known Bonnie a…read morelong time as she worked with me at the veterinary clinic for several years. She left us to start this boarding facility as it had been her dream to have a pet boarding business. I want those reading this to know that she has loved dogs and cats forever. She taught me how to "baby talk" to dogs and cats at the vet clinic. She searched with me when my beloved Baxter went missing one winter and she cried with me when he was never found. My clients at the vet clinic knew Bonnie and loved Bonnie as much if not more than the veterinarians (me included :) ) My clients at the vet clinic take their dogs to Happy Tails with Bonnie and the owners come back with nothing but positive experiences. They love the one on one attention she gives to the dogs and cats that come to stay with her. Some of my clients tell me how Bonnie has a special room with a couch just for their couch-potato dog. I have tried to use Bonnnie's services in the past but I am a last minute planner and so she usually doesn't have anything available for me-totally my fault as I will contact her the day before I need to bring my dog in for a 3-4 day stay. But this last weekend she had room and boy was my England lucky. One thing to know about me is that even though I could leave my dog at the vet clinic that I have worked at for 10 years and love and trust, I don't because he would be in a kennel all day with minimal interaction. When I have left town with my family in the past I either bring our dog (and cats sometimes) with us or I have friends take him. So for me to take England to a kennel is a big deal. So this was my experience: I contacted Happy Tails about vacancy and talked to Bonnie right away. She emailed me forms which included one information sheet and two very simple/short pages to fill out. Due to timing and logistics, I ended up filling out the paperwork and taking photos of them along with my dogs vaccine records and texted the photos to her and she was happy with that. (I did bring in the hard copies when I picked my dog up). My husband took England in during break at work and he said the check in process was very quick and easy. After the 4 days I picked him up. This was after a busy weekend and the boarding building smelled great and looked clean. No dogs were barking. Yes, that's what I said-NO DOGS WERE BARKING. I don't know if that's normal but still impressive. And yes, I did walk through to see there were at least 10 dogs still boarding at that time. I think they get pretty tired out from playing all day. Bonnie had several stories to tell me about England's stay and his new best friends (Remi and Reba). She does a lot of doggy daycare so she is pretty good at figuring out which dogs will play well with each other. There are two outdoor play areas for the dogs to run around in along with several enrichment toys such as tunnels and slides. The dogs get potty breaks plus a long morning recess and afternoon recess when they play together outside. England is home now sleeping. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful and safe place to take my dog when I go out of town.

Our dog, Honey, went to Neuman K-9 Academy for training a few summers ago which was life changing…read morefor her and for us! When we go out of town, we never ask family or friends to watch her for us - it's always K-9 Academy for boarding! We love that she gets to go back to one of her favorite places for some fun AND get to brush up on her training skills she learned a few summers back. Their land, facilities and staff are top tier. They do a wonderful job and we look forward to Honey being able to go back time after time for our boarding needs!

I can't say enough good things about Josiah, Summer, Mya, Jorden, and the entire Neuman team and…read moretheir approach to training. I sent my puppy, Sookie, to the 8-week program when she was 8 months old. I had been referred by friends who had sent their dogs to Neuman in the past, and while I knew it was a great program, I still went back and forth on whether to send my own dog given she was becoming a pretty good puppy already. However, I ultimately decided to send her knowing they would train her the right way and set her up for long-term success. What I did not expect was how the team was able to take her from a good dog to a GREAT dog. She now walks very nicely on the leash, waits patiently before coming out of her kennel or going through doorways, goes to her "place" while we eat meals, and can sit/down + stay like a pro. In addition to all of that, my favorite part has been her incredible recall. We take nature walks several times a week where she's able to be off leash. When we see other people, dogs, or wildlife and I call her back to me, she responds every time. I often get comments about how well behaved she is, especially for a young dog! I am so grateful for the freedom this training has enabled for her (and me!) - Sookie is able to go many more places and do more things than I ever imagined. While maintaining her training does require a couple extra minutes every day to run through the commands, it has been fun and rewarding to work on it with her. I look forward to sending Sookie back for boarding and participation in some of the more advanced training programs. I will always trust Neuman with Sookie's care and training as they truly feel like always-on partners/advisors in raising a dog. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering the program.
