Finding them upon arrival was very easy, and we had little to no wait for our van. The staff was kind and professional, and I felt very safe throughout the ride. We called the day before our departure to confirm pickup, were told 9:30 a.m., and they arrived right on time. Overall, our experience was very pleasant. However, I gave three stars because my sister, who was on the same trip, did not have the same experience. She called to confirm her return transportation as well and was also told 9:30 a.m. While we were picked up without issue, she was left behind at the resort with my niece and nephew. She waited about ten minutes before trying to call Amstar, but no one ever answered. Had we known this would happen, we would have made sure they joined our van so they weren't stranded. I'm conflicted because our experience was great, but it's upsetting that my sister and her children were left behind after receiving confirmation. Just be aware that the experience seems to vary, and it may depend on the day.

They told us to confirm flight 24 hours before. We called 15 times, were on hold for 20 minutes and then the line disconnected each time. We spent hours while trying to relax on the beach trying to connect with them. We eventually decided to just plan to take a taxi. They emailed me 2 hours before pickup to tell us to be checked out and in the lobby. Poor communication, poor planning, poor customer service. The only reason I give 2 stars is because our driver on the way there was nice and friendly. Otherwise, you're better off going with another more reliable company.

I wasn't sure what to expect. I will say it's better than I anticipated…read more The set up seems pretty efficient really. You land and enter on one side of the airport and arrive, enter, and depart from the other. This makes things pretty easy for customs and such. There are three terminals now and another one is being constructed as I type this review. Our driver told us all about it on the way back. Very chatty dude! I had been warned about all of the predatory tactics by the taxi and ride folks outside so I was prepared and not bothered by them. If you come here, take note of this. You can and will get scammed if you allow yourself to become a victim. Luckily we had prearranged the rides and were looking for very specific attire as well as signs for us to find. Just note this as others have said over and over. I will say it again for those in the back! There are tons of people waiting out front trying to get you to use their services. Those services vary a great deal in scammy/usefulness/end up dead in a ditch. Don't do the last one. No Bueno. My departure was interesting as we did not know what gate we were going to until about 10 minutes before boarding. Luckily the place is not that big so it was not an issue. We got there a couple hours early when we were leaving. There is plenty to do and lots to see while here. Have no fear! Consumerism is alive and well in Cancun Mexico! The whole place runs on it! Margaritaville is always a good time if you partake in the libations. They have a Guy Firebird or whatever there too. The duty free is only a deal because of reduced taxation. I found the items to be slightly higher than normal retail, at least for liquor. All in all it did what I needed it to do. Fly in, fly out, not get searched on the way in, or the way out. Not sure if I will come back to Cancun or not. I may have had my fill. We will see if I can score another 100% paid vacation next year for work! If so, I will see you again Amigos!! If not, it will be ok! ;) '26 - 51

Arriving at this airport was a straightforward process as well as going through immigration. Our…read moreluggage took longer than expected and they had 3 flights scheduled for the same belt. That resulted in an overcrowded situation and a long wait to get our suitcases. I realized when I arrived to my hotel that my suitcase was opened at some point but nothing was taken. Exiting the airport will face you with tons of people trying to sell you tours or other services They will ask you questions or attempt to walk you to their desk. I personally just kept on walking as I knew my transfer was outside. If you have a transfer scheduled, you might want to find out the number where they will be located as they have over 60 different areas or numbers where you can find your transfer as well as many people trying to offer you a taxi and other services. Some drivers may be waiting with a signbut just be aware ofnhow to locate your transfer before you arrive as you might be bombarded by people attempting to help you. Checking in with Jetblue was very similar to the process in places like Boston where you print your boarding pass and drop off your luggage. Except they added zip ties to our luggage in Cancun. They were in place when we got to our final destination. Our terminal had many food and souvenir options available. As usual, expect to pay more for items at airports but that's the same everywhere. Gates are announced about an hour prior to departure so you might wait around at a central location until they are announced. In our case, the boarding gate printed on our ticket was not listed on the screen once we entered the gate area. We received a gate change text and saw a gate announcement on the screen an hour before departure as they don't make many intercom announcements. So don't trust your ticket and check an hour before for gate confirmation.

At the location, we were required to leave our phones in a locker without a clear explanation beforehand, which effectively forces guests to purchase their photo package. This lack of transparency significantly affected our decision. We were later told by the travel agency staff that the restriction on phones (as well as jewelry like bracelets, rings, and necklaces) was for dolphin protection. However, this explanation was never clearly provided by the staff at the dolphin facility itself, where the rule was simply enforced without clarification. In addition, these rules did not seem to be applied consistently. For example, I was wearing a bracelet and was not asked to remove it, which made the reasoning behind restricting phones feel unclear and inconsistent. There were also communication issues. The staff continued speaking to us in Spanish even though we only speak English, while speaking English with other guests nearby. This made us feel ignored and uncomfortable. After we raised these concerns, the travel agency staff were not willing to properly address the issue. They repeatedly suggested rescheduling the activity instead of acknowledging the problem, and did not offer any other reasonable solution. We were also told that if we wanted to go again, we would need to pay for transportation again. Throughout the process, our request for a refund was consistently dismissed. Because of all these issues, we chose not to proceed with the activity. We hope management can improve transparency, consistency, and customer service for future guests.

I was a little nervous because I had read some bad reviews about the Amstar services. However, those reviews were proven wrong by the service I received. When our plane arrived, we got through security and customs rather easily. We had been told to head out of the terminal and look for people in blue flowered shirts. We were able to easily find the Amstar employees. We provided them with our flight number and names and they found my husband and me on their list. They gave us a skip of paper with details about booking our pickup to go back to the airport at the end of our trip. Within 10 minutes, we were headed straight to our resort. We happened to be the only people on the small van, which was nice To return to the airport, we used the personal concierge team at our resort to set up our return trip. We waited in the main lobby of our resort and we were picked up about 5-10 minutes after the set pick up time. We gave the driver our names and the piece of parapet with the return details. The van that picked us up was full, but it was a comfortable ride back. Both drivers were nice and helped us with our luggage. We'd be comfortable with using Amstar services again!

I've been to a number of carribean all-inclusive trips, at multiple hotel/resort brands. I have to…read moresay this is up there as one of my favorites. The resort was clean (very clean), things worked as intended, the staff was EXTREMELY friendly and very helpful, and the food was good! It always helps when you're in Mexico and you get good weather (which we did) but these folks had the grounds and resort, itself, firing on all cylinders. My down-rankings were in the lack of daily engagement and night-time activities. Besides a massive party thrown for the superbowl, I didn't notice any nighttime activites (could be my fault for not looking into it more) and the daily activities existed but the staff didn't really try very hard to pull people "into the fight", if you will. Having said that, these luxuries that I've seen at other brands did not take away from the wonderful experience that my friends and I had!

Came here for a wedding and here is an overview of the stay…read more The best part imo is that it is about a five minute walk to Secrets, the adults only resort. If you have children, stay at Dreams, if you don't, stay at Secrets. I think it's honestly that easy. The only difference is if for some reason Dreams is super less expensive than Secrets and you don't have kids, you might as well stay at Dreams and walk over to Secrets every day. I didn't see a Secrets room, but I can't imagine it being better enough to warrant a huge price difference. Expect to see a wedding if you're here on a weekend, this place gets booked out early for weddings (like a year in advance). However, if you like to dance, it is the weddings that make the lounge fun. I heard the lounge can be pretty dead, but when there's a wedding party coming here for an afterparty, it livens the place up. I heard a couple who was leaving comment how our wedding party made that place fun. The food is like cruise food. Weirdly, a lot of restaurants were closed on certain evenings and there isn't a lot open at lunch. Look at closures before you come, so you don't spend a night eating at a restaurant that you could have eaten at when most of them are closed. I personally liked all the ceviche I tried (I know, brave of me for eating ceviche in Mexico) and disliked all the sushi I tried. All the octopus I tried was quite good too. They are very strict about mens clothes. If you go to a nicer restaurant, the men have to have sleeves. It was pretty funny that my sister and I were able to eat at the french restaurant in a crop top and shorts, but men were sent back to their room to put on a collared shirt. Bring some nice clothes. Room service takes forever, make sure you order ahead. They only bring out room service at certain times, so you go on the app and choose a time. If they are already filled at that time you could have to choose a time hours later. So either plan ahead or figure you'll be walking to a restaurant to get food. Restaurants can get very busy, so it's better to go right when it opens. Otherwise, you may end up waiting a while. There isn't a lot of activities during the day so this is definitely a lounge by the pool or beach type resort. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just be aware. At Secrets they have live music by the pool during the day which was nice. They have a good amount of workers walking by getting drinks. If you want more premium alcohol get a preferred room. They consider titos premium. Otherwise, the preferred room doesn't really seem worth it. The lazy river that only preferred guests have access to seemed really slow and there weren't a lot of people in nit. It's hidden for the most part, but since we were in the main building we could see it. The kids splash pad looked awesome for children. I would absolutely bring my kids here. The rooms are big, but depending on which building you are in, some are better than others. Get a room in the main building if you can. Originally we were in building 7 and it seemed older. The only downside to the main building was for the ocean view there was no shade on the balcony so we almost didn't use the balcony at all.

We enjoyed the expansive property with tons of restaurants, pools, and bars. All staff members were very engaging and friendly. We were underwhelmed by the guest room. A serious facelift is in order. The furniture was all scratched up, the drawers didn't close, and the sink barely drained (one of the stoppers appeared to be stuck). We almost got trapped outside on the second floor balcony because the electric key pad didn't work. Good thing we didn't shut the door! Housekeeping arrived at 4:45 PM on our second day, but we were already getting showered and ready for dinner. The only reason for the 3 Yelp stars is because of the Awaken Your Senses dinner. This was incredible! Unique and awe-inspiring. It was $195 per person, but it was multiple courses, wine/alcohol pairings, and digital entertainment. The service was impeccable. Some of the best we've ever experienced. This experience is a splurge, but if you're a foodie, check it out. We were offered a discount if we sat through a Timeshare session at 8:00 AM, but we hard-passed/declined. If you don't mind the room being a bit dark/dingy/old, then this could be a suitable all-inclusive option.

The resort is huge with tons to do, and we loved seeing wildlife like monkeys and capybaras around the property. Resort/Room: We stayed on the Heaven (adults-only) side and enjoyed a pool-view room. It was quiet inside despite the party outside, though the room did show some wear and tear (peeling headboard, slightly dirty tub). Still, it was comfy overall. Food: The food was just... okay. By no means authentic, and not AMAZING culinary revolutions, but it got the job done. Umo (Mexican restaurant) and Faro (buffet) were some of the better options on property. Staff/service: The real standout was the staff. Everyone was kind and welcoming and put it attention to detail to the smallest thing that real made a difference. Big shoutout to Alex (Bali bed attendant) at the Heaven pool for being super attentive and fun! Pro tip: Get off the resort at least once! You are doing yourself and the locals such a disservice if you just never leave. The area is rich with history and culture: Chichen Itzá, Tulum, Coba, 700+ cenotes, you name it. It's worth stepping out of your little paradise for 8 hours, I promise you. Overall: the amenities and activities were great, and the staff truly made the experience better. If you're looking for peace and quiet, I'd recommend staying on the Heaven side, though keep in mind it's a bit removed from the rest of the resort. If you want to be more central to everything, consider the family side instead.
