Dr. Price at Know Allergy clinic is in the process of giving my husband his life back. Since 1982…read morehe has had severe reactions (fatigue, joint & skin pain) to mold (even just walking into an antique shop can set off an attack). All the other multiple allergists we saw blew him off with "I've never heard of that reaction - maybe you should go to OHSU". Dr. Price totally understood when he told her about his symptoms and tried some medications to alleviate his reaction. Now he is doing allergy shots after being tested for multiple mold strains. Yes it can take a long time for an initial appointment or even follow-up appts. For my husband its a small price to pay to get relief finally.

Avoid this practice if you value timely care…read more Kursteen S. Price, MD is a knowledgeable and attentive physician -- when you are finally able to see her. I was referred by my primary care provider for allergy evaluation, and it took four (4) months to secure an initial appointment. During that visit, Dr. Price was thorough, and her staff was courteous and professional. Unfortunately, the follow-up experience has been disappointing. The prescribed medication worsened my congestion. I contacted the office, left a message, and was told my concern would be relayed to the doctor. That was over a month ago, and I have not yet received any response. Dr. Price also ordered bloodwork, which I completed. The office confirmed receipt of the results, but said the doctor needed to review them with me. The first available follow-up appointment to do that in in seven (7) months. Seven months to review my results! Seriously? In short, while Dr. Price herself may be excellent, the inability to access timely follow-up care or communication makes this practice extremely difficult to recommend.

I have met many, many doctors in tackling my chronic illness, and by far Dr. Matin was the most…read moreattentive, knowledgeable of them all. I was in so much pain, there would be weeks when I was in a living hell from the pain and debilitation. Dr. Matin succeeded in pulling me back from the edge of hopelessness and despair, and not only restoring my health, but adjusting my lifestyle so I live healthier and stronger than I have ever been in the past 20+ years. He was an incredible listener, asking pointed questions and listening to the circumstances around my condition for a long time (~hour), longer than any other doctor, friend, or family member had taken to consider my illness. He was not satisfied with relieving my immediate symptoms, although that was a priority. He was determined to get to the root cause. We worked together to get to the bottom of an ongoing, enigmatic, and ever-changing condition. He was able to recommend high quality lab tests, and distinguish between what was relevant and what was noise. His prognosis was not a lazy wide net cast over a variety of possible causes, but rather a sophisticated, justified, and precise treatment. He drew from a large body of knowledge of how all functions of the body worked together, and was articulate in why he was recommending each of his treatments. Combination of lifestyle changes, herbal supplements, and dietary restrictions relieved the symptoms, and I was able to wean off my dependence on pharmaceutical drugs in a mere couple of weeks. He did not just recommend tests; he recommended the most accurate, visually expressive, high grade tests from the most reliable laboratories in the US. I nearly left NYC to return home because of how debilitated I was; Dr. Matin's treatment and solutions allowed me to stay here to pursue my work and my passion with more natural energy and fervor than I had before. He was always kind, polite and sympathetic, and kept in touch frequently to make sure my condition improved. For whatever hell you are going through, please see Dr. Matin!

For almost 15 years I had suffered with unbearable hot flashes and stomach pain. I saw naturopathic…read moredoctors , internal medicine doctors, gastroenterologists with numerous endoscopies, colonoscopies, lab tests and different medication including antibiotic regimens too. None of these methods helped me fix my problems and, even worse, none of them provided any conclusive results, it was such a frustrating experience. I even tried a difficult and tortuously-strict gluten-free diet for a long period of time with no relief either. Finally I met Dr. Shamim Matin and immediately felt his goal was to simply find a source of my issues rather than get me out of the door with a new medication to "try and see how I do." He ordered 3 types of specific blood test as well as a stool test and after the results came back he sat with me and explained every small detail regarding the findings of the tests. He didn't rush through anything and truly felt motivated to educate me about my own health, an experience that I have never had at any other doctor visits. Dr. Matin was able to deduce at specific diet and supplement regimen that was based solely on MY lab results and physical examination rather than some generalization of symptoms that other doctors tried to constantly placed me into. Now after our visits, I am 6 months free of ANY problems I had before, I am a different person with no pain, no bloating, no hot flashes, more energy and I feel so healthy and happy that I was able to find a solution that actually SOLVED my problems rather than simply masked them with different meds that needed to be changed every few weeks because they didn't actually attack the source. I cannot emphasize how much of an amazing experience I had with the amount of attention and detail Dr. Matin provided me, it was the first time that I felt the doctor was as motivated as me to find a solution and it is an experience I hope every human being can have, we trust our doctors so much and to feel you're their priority when we go in with different issues is something that unfortunately has become so rare. What I learned from Dr. Matin and our visits was that certain bacteria in our guts, just like during infections, for example, can overgrow and cause a lot of different symptoms, and a lot of doctors simply give medication to control the symptoms. Dr. Matin showed me through every visit what his goal was, his reason for doing it, and also evidence and science of why and how it works to eradicate the actual source of the symptoms. Thank you so much for changing my life! I thought getting older meant learning to deal with more problems and pains, I didn't know it was possible to be completely symptom free. I wish knew you 15 years ago and didn't suffer all those years, but I am glad and hopeful that my experience can serve others going through similar chronic issues in finding a solution. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Matin for anyone that feels they have been passed around from one office to the next without any real change in their health problems.

We came home from vacation and after two weeks of various water activities in the pool and ocean, my daughter was in severe pain with a double ear infection. Fever of 103 and miserable. The unfortunate thing also about tubes is that you cannot use regular preventative drops. There are only a few you can use and they are prescription. It took 8 days to clear up they were so severe, and that means all night trying to keep a child comfortable. What was even more annoying is that his associate when I called prescribed drops that were too harsh for her and she would scream. After days of this, we went to a new ENT who was very annoyed that ENT's do not think in preventative care for children with tubes in their ears, and would prescribe drops that strong for a 4 year old. To say the least, we have switched docs. Unfortunately, I feel the association has done a doosy here as my friend's son also now has an ear infection who has tubes after receiving the same advice from her ENT.

If they are late, it means they take their time with their patients. And I don't need someone with a great personality. I just need someone who knows their stuff..... The few time I met with Dr Michaelson, she was reviewing my medical history with me and walked out of the room when I told her about my history with sexual assault. One year later her staff reached out (I am assuming by accident) to schedule my annual check-up. I went ahead and booked with her. This appointment, she openly admitted that she was shocked I came back to her. I told her I was too. I went to her a couple more times, where she consistently fat shamed me. I am a solid 20 pounds over weight. No one deserves to be fat shamed, ever. She also could not seem to keep track of which family member was dead (even though she took what seemed like detailed notes every time we met). She would constantly ask the same questions over and over again. My finally straw was when she ended up having to open her own practice (she moved around a lot), I am assuming because the previous family practices could not tolerate her. No one clearly liked her in the office. When I showed up to my appointment, she had double booked me. Informed me she had realized she couldn't take my insurance, and should have informed me before I came to the appointment. She canceled the appointment on site, after I had waited a full hour because of the double booking. She ordered blood work. Then charged me for the appointment. There is still no resolution. I can't encourage people enough - do NOT go to her. She is AWFUL.

Cold is fine if competence is high. In my two meetings with Dr. Michaelson she showed sprinkles of empathy, but for the most part wasted my time on both. Took my vitals and went through some standard questions: medical history, family history, etc where she rightfully pressed, but made me feel like I wasn't trustworthy in my responses or that I was lying. That made me feel a bit odd. It's important to get to know your patients, but when the line of questioning turned to my partner - not me the patient - and she asked ********if my partner was male or female************** that oddity turned to something more sinister and was unacceptable to me. If we were talking about reproductive safety, birth control, etc I could understand the relevance, but that was not the topic of conversation.
