If you want a great lawyer experience then use Ms. Bates…read more When trying to rewrite our Will it was surprising how expensive other places were and very corporate in nature. We chose Ms. Bates because she provided a service at a value price and a private practice not a corporate machine.

I strongly caution against ever considering this firm for any family services, as Mrs. Bates consistently proved herself to be an attorney who is utterly inept and fails to offer any valuable strategic advice. To add insult to injury, I was forced to personally chase after my divorce decree a staggering two months after it had already been signed. It became painfully clear that Mrs. Bates's negligence and distortion of facts required me to seek the assistance of a competent law firm to rectify the mess she had created. Save yourself the headache and avoid Mrs. Bates and her firm at all costs. I am deeply frustrated with the appalling services provided by Mrs. Bates as an attorney. Sure, in hineysight a few things I would have not conceded to the b****rd ex, but aren't we all 20/20 after the fact? All in all, the price was very reasonable when others were charging by the hour yadayada. Keep in mind, none of these legal matters are easy to go through; I'm glad that was 12 years ago now:-) Hi, Jason.

They kept me grounded and prepared while building a strong strategy. They were organized and responsive, and I always felt prepared and supported. Jason knows exactly what he's doing in the courtroom. He's extremely sharp, quick on his feet, and handles situations in real time when they come up. His ability to think fast and stay composed makes a huge difference. The expectations they set were realistic, but in the end they exceeded them in a big way. I walked away with meaningful rights and real involvement in my child's life. He's worth every penny. If you're a father who simply wants to do right by your child and make sure your voice is heard, Jason and Katie will stand with you and guide you through it the right way. My advice: listen and let him work. He knows exactly what he's doing.

Talented. Gifted. Winning the Outer and Inner Game in Family Law…read more "Mary Jones was recommended to me by a well-known, recognized Austin family law attorney. This endorsement reflected confidence in Mary by her colleagues and the knowledge that she would work to the utmost to win. In my case this was a high conflict and complicated divorce which she won decisively. I have come to believe that Mary is talented and gifted lawyer. Over the 18 months I worked with Mary, I came to understand-though not knowing the law-that there are outer and inner aspects to a successful case. The outer has to do with the technical aspects of the law and knowing it cold. I came to believe that she knew the minutiae of the minutiae. But it is not only that Mary knows the law but she also continually works at fine tuning it to circumstances. In my case, Mary dealt with a pre-nuptial agreement executed abroad (Africa). Her brief to the judge was innovative and convincing even though she had not advocated before His Honor before. She knows what needs to be done and will have the client working effectively-saving legal costs- on needed detail of the case from the beginning. This non-stop drive to perfect a case insures no loss of momentum even if there are setbacks such as court reschedulings. She continually seeks improvement on the legal argument modifying as circumstances change which they did with my spouse. Importantly, her court performance is confident and very powerful. The inner aspect of the case is the work with the client; keeping them fighting and never giving up; helping him or her not to act from bad ideas or react from their worst instincts. This means getting to know the client well enough to make them their own best advocate. This also requires reassuring in case of client doubt or fear, and moderating client emotion and worry so that these feelings do not undermine the hard, cumulative work done by both attorney and client so that they both ultimately, as a team cross the finish line as winners. In summary, one wants a situation where when the court is over an unknown bailiff spontaneously tells you that you had a 'heck' of a lawyer." Mary is that kind of attorney. I have an addendum to make to my first review and that is to note that Mary is in the case even after the court has decided. She continues to support months after the decree has come down. She realizes that while the court decision might be positive the final victory is getting the client back on track, into a positive life. Perhaps for her the case never ends because it is about people not the least of which are the children involved.

There's a reason Sam is the #1 result when I searched for a divorce lawyer on Yelp…read more I went to Sam after my (not quite) ex-husband had been procrastinating filing our divorce for far longer than I'm willing to admit. I left him a message and he called me back the same day, even after business hours. We discussed my situation and he asked all the right questions to keep the conversation informative and efficient. He was very honest that I was almost finished and that I could very easily have finished everything myself. I appreciated his honesty (and he wasn't pushy about it) and felt even more sure of hiring him. He was able to schedule to meet me first thing the next day. In his office, we went over everything again once more for clarity. He reiterated that the process was already almost complete and I could have easily completed it on my own without him (just to make sure he was being very transparent), but to me it was worth hiring him just to make it not my problem anymore. We filled out a few pieces of paper and then I was on my way. Sam was able to get me into the courthouse the following Monday (rushing there on his own electric scooter). I went from hiring him on Wednesday evening to having a finalized divorce Monday morning. His empathy, sense of urgency, professionalism, and responsiveness made me wish I had hired him a year ago instead of waiting on my lazy ex-husband. If you're in the market for a divorce lawyer, you can't do better than Sam.
