It's open about six months and this was our first visit coincidentally St Valentine's Day. It was Saturday lunch time just after noon. The place was packed and I hadn't expected that. We didn't have a reservation but they were able to seat us.
Parking isn't generous and the spaces are tight. It's very cosy inside and the seating is wonderfully comfortable. I avoid chicken every chance I can. I do buy free range chicken breast to cook at home but as it's more than double the price of the battery chickens restaurants don't buy it. The difference in taste is huge and often the battery stuff has no discernible flavour.
We got a deep fried duck sushi style roll (8 pieces) and salmon and avocado (8 pieces) served with pickled ginger and wasabi for starters. The portions are generous and the proteins - duck and salmon - are also generous.
Mains were again generous portions - deep fried crispy hot teriyaki duck with boiled rice and sweet chilli chicken with fried rice, the coating of the chicken was wonderfully thin. Service was excellent and so attentive and courteous.
If I have a criticism it's the chilli and teriyaki sauces are incredibly sweet - uber sweet - so must be sugar loaded. Maybe this is how it is made in Japan or perhaps it's adopted for our taste. All in all really delightful leisurely lunch around £90 with two glasses of rosé and a Coke Zero. It's likely we won't eat much more until tomorrow.
Highly recommend and if you aim to go do think about a reservation as I'd imagine it must be really busy at nighttime. read more
