I won the auction of one phase of orthodontist treatment through Oakley orthodontist . He donated one complete phase! At the time my daughter was receiving services with a different orthodontist and we were just at the observation period waiting for all her baby teeth to fall out. Changing orthodontists is always an unsettling feeling, but I asked to speak with their financial department and I was told braces could range up to $7,000- $9,000. Through our military insurance, we only had $1,400 left in our account. I saved over $7000 by bidding on the amazing auction with Mothers Of Brentwood brunch! Zoe ended up getting braces with Oakley Orthodontic! After meeting them, switching over was easy! They were actually anxious to get her in that day! What is lacking is his administrative staff's competence. My wife switched jobs halfway through my treatment, and obviously her insurance changed as well. You would think this would be as simple as removing our old insurance and billing our new insurance. But instead his office staff continued to act as if we still had the old insurance.... which I told them multiple times we had switched. Then, when I called to make a credit card payment over the phone, they not once but TWICE charged the wrong card after I gave them the complete new card number. Their response was "Is it ok if we use the other one?" After all this, Dr. Hardyk then wanted to be paid in full prior to making my last set of aligners, never agreed to that in my contract. Don't walk, but run from this office.

Dr. Shelby had us come to her office for a quick consultation prior to starting services. Parents with children on the spectrum, (particularly on the higher needs end) know how anxiety inducing these appointments can be. I was a giant ball of unhopeful nerves. Praying my son would not be judged, or become too difficult to be helped. A staff member came in to assist/keep an eye on him for the duration of the consultation. My son jumping into this woman's arms at one point, and yet she showed no irritation, and reassured me as I apologized repeatedly. Maybe it was written on my face, maybe she is a part time mind reader, but Dr. Shelby sat me down in that office, looked me in the eye and assured me everything was okay, and my child would not be judged there. Embarrassingly enough, I broke down in tears. It was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders, and I was actually seen. Although my child did not tolerate the check up well, as I expected, the Dr. was still able to get X-rays, and did so as efficiently as possible! I was simply a mother, who hadn't had a job in over a year, asking for a small accommodation so I wouldn't have to miss work or pull my child out of school. Instead of compassion, the front desk clerk refused to even let me speak to the dentist -- someone we had trusted for years. I was so upset by how dismissive they were that I ended up in tears. One simple request turned into being completely disregarded, and it feels like something was said behind the scenes that wasn't true, because we were ignored and immediately dropped. When I respectfully mentioned I would leave an honest review about my experience, I received a letter dropping my daughter from care. They claimed it's their "policy" not to schedule young children later in the day, yet refused to show me any proof -- no signed document, no written policy, nothing. They also falsely claimed multiple attempts to contact me, but there was only one voicemail left. I returned the call and never received any follow-up. Six years of loyalty, perfect attendance, and a strong relationship thrown away over one basic scheduling request. This office does not prioritize patient relationships, communication, or professionalism. They will not advocate for you -- they will simply cut ties. If you want to be treated with basic respect and compassion, this is not the place for your family.
