I waited till I have been at this dental office for a couple of years to write a review. Lets start off with everyone is so friendly and professional especially Dr. Shirani! My kids love him and get excited to go see him. My daughters teeth were coming in crooked and Dr. Shirani suggested pulling out some baby teeth that should have fell out on there own but hadn't yet. He pulled the baby teeth out and her adult teeth came in and her teeth straightened up. So, thankful to him for that since her previous dentist didn't suggest that. I have had braces in the past and still had gaps between two of my front teeth he was able to correct that without braces or Invisalign. So, now I love him. I've been searching for five years for an awesome gentle dentist and from a childhood friend I found him. My teeth have been seriously neglected because of so many poor dentists I've tried in the last decade. I had an emergency from a broken tooth and an abscess in another. When I called yesterday as a first time patient I actually got to speak with this friendly professional on the phone first. When I went in the office he treated me at the door first to introduce himself and it made me so comfortable and relaxed immediately. I knew immediately he was an epic find. I've never had such a comfortable experience at a diagnostic appointment. He got me in the next morning with the best diagnostic equipment. When he found out the emergency I was in he referred me to an amazing endontic Dentist that got me in the same afternoon where I received two root canals painlessly and fast. Dr. Shirani didn't judge my neglect. We came up with a treatment plan together (teamwork) and I should have my badly neglected teeth back in 8 weeks including 4 crowns. He's a kind, genuine, caring professional. If I could give 10 stars I would. His team is just as friendly and caring. Comfortable office. Top notch and fast work, but not rushed and a very experienced Dentist so less time in the chair! I was so comfortable that my fear and anxiety of getting so much dental work was gone. If we had been notified about a balance it would have been paid. OMG! This place is absolutely amazing, Dr. Shirani is a Gem-as is he staff. From the receptionist to the dental hygienist they are all very friendly,professional and helpful. The worst experience I've ever had at a dental office in my life! If you're looking to waste your time and be manipulated into paying for unnecessary things, look no further. I showed up on time for my appointment and when I went to check in the receptionist was on her phone and seemed bothered that I had interrupted whatever she was so engrossed in. Now I understand why after filling out my new client paperwork I never received a call to book my appointment, despite being assured that the office staff would reach out once my paperwork had been completed. She clearly had more important things to do besides her job. I wish I had never reached back out and I probably would have never heard from this shoddy business again. After sitting in the waiting room for 15 minutes I was finally greeted briefly by Dr. Shirani and taken for x-rays... but the fake politeness didn't fool me for a second. I should have trusted my gut and walked out. After x-rays and fancy photos were taken of my teeth, they proceeded to leave me sitting in a room for another 15 minutes... 50 minutes for some x-rays?! Some people have jobs to get back to... utter disrespect for my time. Why even schedule an appointment? I asked to reschedule the cleaning because I needed to get back to work. I was met with unnecessary hostility and Dr. Shirani's true colors were shown. He conducted a shoddy "exam" where I was told I needed to be fitted for a mouth guard because I was grinding my teeth since my incisors weren't pointy enough. Excuse me? I've never been told that by any dentist my entire life and now suddenly I grind my teeth? No sir! Your fancy photos didn't dupe me. I saw right through the facade. Dr. Shirani couldn't find anything wrong with my teeth to charge me for out-of-pocket expenses, and voila, he suggested a mouth guard that I would have to pay hundreds for out of pocket. Beware! Besides the best bedside manner I have ever had she is a perfectionist (which all dentist should be). Everyone here is super friendly. From the office managers, To the dental hygienists and of course the dentist. They have an appointment system set up where they text you the days leading up to your appointment which is very helpful! Dr Shirani has been at it for decades and it's evident by the quality of his work and his superb customer service. He has a great attitude and he's very sincere. He's one of the best dentists in the state. The only downside is your appointments might be far apart because his skills are in such high demand. Today he filled a couple cavities and repaired a cracked tooth.. I'm looking forward to getting a crown in December. I am sorry that I have to write this review as a negative one, because I wanted this relationships between me and this dentist to work out, I have had many dentist in my 72 years some making mistakes here and there, but I was always was willing to let them fix the problem, work it out, however this time it crosses the line, losing my confidence. He filled a deep cavity on my front tooth that fell out after a month or so, after me swallowing parts of it causing scratching, I texted him for an appointment to get it fixed, and was given a time of Friday 2:30, then the dentist called the next day to change the time to 3:30 on friday, I said Ok. When I get there on time, a worker comes out and told me that the office closes at 3:00 on Friday!, and the dentist had already left the office, then the dentist came the out of the back! to telling me that I had missed my appointment at 2:30 and must reschedule, because he said 2:30. Well, when I played on my phone a recording of his voice telling me that the time was changed to 3:30 he admitted that it was his mistake, however I must still get another appointment, next tuesday, was the earliest date, the time it took him to give me another appointment he could have fixed my tooth!! already! I have been going to Dr. Shirani for a couple of years now and I could not be more impressed with Everyone who works there. I have been going for routine cleanings and just yesterday I was in for cracked filling / cavity issue. I have always felt uneasy about going to the dentist for anything other than cleanings. I continued to support that African American establishment, because I wanted to support my own and also due to the fact I was familiar with him. This review is long overdue about 5 years...found Dr. Ali through reviews for my spouse who had just gone to another dentist in Brentwood that totally screwed up her teeth. My spouse was extremely scared & hesitant to go to another dentist to have the $6000 work that was just done fixed; but sooooo glad we found and started seeing dr. Ali. My spouse got the screwed up work fixed it was just beautiful and didn't break the bank to fix also appreciated. She continued going to dr. Ali and because of his & his staffs professionalism, exceptional customer service and the fact you can tell he genuinely cares about his patients, I decided to start seeing him for my own dental needs; which I hadn't seen a dentist in 10 years at the time since exiting the military. I hated going to the dentist in that I am a patient who it takes numerous injections to even start to feel numb if I even get numb. That can be extremely frustrating to a patient & a dentist; however Dr. Ali was patient and understanding, not once showing any frustration towards me or the fact it's almost impossible to get me numb. Due to his determination to help me We have since found a solution that has been working if I need to get numb for any dental needs; so grateful. If I thought he was awesome with us adults; he is even better when working with kids. My family and I have been going to Dr. Shirani for years. I have always been afraid of the dentist since I was a little kid due to a very bad experience. He made me feel at ease right away and I have never had a problem since. I also have 3 children 16 years, 7 years and 4 years old. They absolutely LOVE going to see Dr. Shirani!! Just a few days ago my 4 year old and I had our cleaning appointments. He got to hang out with the lovely ladies at the front desk while I got my x-rays and this time wanted to go by himself to the room for his cleaning. I was referred to Dr. Sharani's Dentistry early 2017 with a TRAUMATIC dental background from the age of 7 yrs old. In the pass I was strapped down and given laughing gas as my tooth was extracted feeling every bit of the excruciating pain!!! Since then my dental experiences had overwhelmed me with a great deal of anxiety that is until, I became a patient of Dr. Sharani's. At the time of my first initial appointment set up, he called me himself!!! He fit me in and has had a great deal of concern for my family and I as patients ever since (my 20yr old daughter, 13yr old son and 3yr old daughter). I wished there is a MINUS 5 star on Yelp, and only that can represent how horrible my experience was with Dr Ali. short version: 1, Can he read X-ray? He missed the deep cavity, which was obvious even to his hygienist (I later visited my friend's dentist and also my new dentist, they all spotted the cavity on the first visit). He said there was a tiny cavity on other tooth, but I had two teeth infected, the one he ignored was much more serious. Because of this delay and ignorance, I suffered another 3 month, before it got to a point where root canal and a crown were inevitable. 2, Of course, he wants out-of-patient's pocket money. Instead, he recommended an expensive night guard, with a price over than 500 bucks (by the way, other dentists usually ask for 200), and the insurance did not cover a cent for this. It was all because he subjectively thought that my tooth pain was from anxiety and grinding, and his speculation was not based on x-ray results. 3, After I insisted to fix my pain, he did fill my less severe cavity, but he did a lousy and perfunctory job, where he did not adjust the high filling - surely increasing my grinding behaviors in the future. He also did not clean up the tartar on the surface- because of his unfishied work, it costed me another 100 dollars later to fix the same tooth. 4, Oh boy, how dare he charged me this much? The comparison: Dr Ali : regular x-ray + teeth cleaning + 1 cavity （not severe, even he said so）= 625 dollars my current dentist: 7 cavities (including 2 moderate deep) + a Crown Tooth ！！！+ regular x-ray + teeth cleaning = 789 dollars. 5，He asked me to pay another 300 bucks eight months later, even when I received all the copay document from my insurance company last year and both of us did pay our share? I mean, my insurance covered 80-90% of the tooth filling and cleaning and 100% with the x-ray, which means plus the 125 dollars I co-paid last November should cover everything. Well, how could you just make up another 300 bucks for me to pay? Here is the whole story. If you were like me, being new in Antioch area and heavily relying on Yelp to find the right dentist, please look further, expand your search scope to even Concord, you can find a real professional, but definitely stay away from dramas in this place! Yes, at the beginning he promised free check-up and partial x-ray (believe me, he will request you to have a full x-ray the next visit), but things went horribly wrong for my formal visit (Nov 2017) -- I had bad pain on my left molar teeth but I did not which one or two. After the x-ray and tooth cleaning, the hygienist showed me two teeth had cavities. However, Dr A insisted that I did not have any urgent issue with cavity, and he said my pain was due to tooth grinding - and the root cause was anxiety. His solution was using night guard, even after he looked the full x-ray result. Although the hygienist reminded him that there were two cavities, he only fixed the less severe one and left me this message: "Your pain will come back if you don't wear night guard. " (In retrospect, he was partially right - yes, the pain would not go away, but just because you did not fix the cavity.) Within a month, I went to Tennessee for Thanksgiving, and my friend's 30-year-experienced dentist checked my tooth and was surprised that Ali did not treat my cavity, as it was deep enough to almost get to the nerves and he used the same x-ray results Ali sent to him. The dentist treated my tooth, and adjusted the surface to match the bottom tooth, that was when i realized that Ali did not do this step and left my filled tooth too high in its position. The Tennessee dentist warn me that maybe the treatment was not enough if the nerve keeps inflamed, and be prepare for root canal. In another two month, I had a new dentist T. Up till then the tooth pain was unbearable, and Dr T recommended an endodontist to perform root canal surgery on me and then he himself checked my teeth thoroughly, sugestting me to have all the cavities fixed (including the one Dr Ali fixed, because he did not get all the parts, especially the tartars on the surface). There were 7 cavities and teeth cleaning，and Dr T only chrage for less than 800 bucks, with a co-pay less than 300 dollars (since crown tooth is only 50% coverage). By contrast, Dr Ali charged me 625 dollars for just one cavity and tooth cleaning. I was speechless when I realized how Dr Ali overpriced his practice. I was a lazy person when it comes to write reviews, but sometimes I was wondering if most of his patients were tricked by his "first time" good impression - surely hard working and friendly, that was why so many good reviews were posted about him. But I do think it is necessary for people in similar situations to know more about this Dr, hence, here is my first ever detailed review on Yelp. read more

Where do I begin? When I walked in to Dr.Shirani's office I was welcomed with a handshake and 3 promises. The office is top notch state of the art with newest technology and the staff are immaculate. I had severe problems and needed extractions and immediates Dr. Sherani kept his promises that he had made upon my arrival and I'm beyond grateful to him for keeping his word. I would like to say he gave my smile back but in reality he actually gave me way more than that. Renewed sense of self and renewed trust in a dentist that actually cares. I can't thank them enough.
