So, I've tried 3 times to do an MRI with no success over the past several years. I'm claustrophobic…read morewhen it comes to these procedures. Even went to Sparks to try out the "open" MRI, which if my eyes were located where my ears are probably would've been OK, but they're not. My back has started to bother me to the point where I wanted to try again, so they can see what's going on. I was all set-up for total anesthesia at Carson Tahoe Hospital and about 20 minutes before my MRI appointement, their machine went down, so we were rescheduled to Great Basin in a couple weeks. I asked about the anesthesia and they said over there they don't knock you out like an operation, but give you Versed, which will relax you to the point that they can do the test. I'd already tried 2 Xanax at one of my previous appointments and it didn't work, so I was skeptical. Yesterday, I went to Great Basin and the 2 nurses Elouise and Vicky couldn't have been nicer or more professional. I really felt like I was in good hands. When we went to the machine, the technician, Russ was incredible. Explained everything that was going to occur, did some fancy things changing the color of the room to my favorite and a beautiful picture up above. Vicky administered a small dose of the Versed, as I was sliding into the machine. I was incredibly comfortable and awake for the entire 25 minute procedure and most importantly able to stay still so the MRI could do its thing. This procedure was a wonderful experience thanks to these 3 professionals!!! Thank You Great Basin!!!
