I went here as they advertise on the radio that they see people on an urgent basis. I was expecting Orthopedic Urgent Care and a dedicated PA, NP, etc. Au Contraire. This is how it works. You come in, tell the receptionist your problem, then she attempts to triage you to the M.D. who best fits your problem. In my case, a foot specialist, as I had a dislocated toe and bone fracture in my foot. The doctor who sees you has an attitude that another person has been added to his overloaded schedule and you are off to a good start.
Doctor looks at my foot and I go get an x-ray. (x-ray techs the only ones with kindness and compassion.) Come back, he explains toe is dislocated, foot has broken bone and dislocation needs to be put back into alignment. Gives me 2 shots to numb foot. 15 mins later he starts to tug on foot. I screamed in pain. He says, "whats the problem, you got 2 shots?" Well apparently, doctor did not put novacaine in the right place. I then stated "Just put toe back into alignment, I will deal with pain. So he did and I screamed extremely loudly but it was put back into alignment. (I later learn that the fracture in my foot was bad which MD never stated)
After procedure, I ask doctor, "Can I go to work with this foot in boot? He says, "You work?" How insulting. Yes jerk, I do and I have insurance through my employer. So off I toodle with my foot in boot and limping to the car. Thank god my hubby took the day off work to help me. Foot starts to throb after I get home. I was never given any instructions regarding icing, elevating, no driving etc. Good thing I am a medical professional myself. So disorganized, unprofessional. No meds offered or given. No one told me not to take Advil but I later found out one shouldn't take Advil for a fracture. Had to call the next day for a painkiller as foot was throbbing. Again, given rudeness and sarcasm by nurse as if I was a drug seeker.
After deciding my treatment was barbaric and the staff was unprofessional, I followed up with my own podiatrist. He stated fracture was bad. Nice. I will never go to Orthopedic Associates again. I highly suggest everyone there, except for x-ray techs, go to customer service classes asap. This review was written by a medical professional, who is employed, and has commercial insurance, if any of that should matter.
UPDATE: I received a message from business manager to give her a call regarding my experience. I called and she was very apologetic about my poor experiences. She stated that she would inform the owner and then she thanked me for the information. That was all. read more
